Rah Rah Sis Coom Bah! for a Giveaway

You may remember my stellar 10K race experience from this past weekend. You may also remember seeing some cuteness like below…

Seeing little Miss M cheering on her mommy with some awesome racing yard signs really gave me a spark of energy each of the four times I got to pass my family. See?

I have always heard other runners talk about the value of support from race spectators. I would think it sounded nice, but didn’t understand the difference it truly makes. I quickly learned. There were certainly a few times along the course on Saturday that I could feel my energy waning, but then in the distance I would see a bright green sign waving around and BAM – instant energy shot. Like tequila…but better…and safer when running.

Awhile ago, Megan from Signs on the Cheap (that’s a name I can get on board with) contacted me about reviewing some of their create-your-own products. My newfound love of racing sent me directly in the direction of cheering signs. We tossed around some ideas and she created these great personalized signs.

IMGP1581

I don’t have much creativity dwelling inside me and she worked it out to somehow give me exactly what I wanted. Awesome!

The signs worked perfectly. They are a durable material so we can continue to use them in all my future races. They are lightweight and easy to handle. The bright colors stand out so I can easily spot my personal cheering crew. Other people loved the signs as well and commented on the great idea of using them. Clearly, this won’t be the last time you see the appearance of “The Finish Is Worth It” or “You’re Kickin’ Asphalt” on FFF.

Would you love to create your own cheering sign? Simply leave me a comment telling me how you appreciate support from others in your fitness goals for a chance to win your very own creation!

Winner must be a U.S. resident *excluding Hawaii and Alaska. Giveaway will end Thursday evening at midnight. Winner announced in Friday morning’s post.

  1. I love when strangers yell loud for you during a race. It always puts a smile on my face 🙂 I try and reciprocate after I’ve finished to give the remaining runners some inspiration to dig in hard at the end.

  2. So sweet! Love this post and the little cutie with those signs are too much – you’re kickin’ asphalt made me laugh – perfect! Seriously – I can’t think of a better sign!!

  3. Cool giveaway!

I love love love people who watch races that I am in — hearing people clap, whistle, yell, etc is awesome. Just having people WATCH gets me fired up and motivated to keep on going.

  4. feener says:

those are great, i love when kids line the side and wait for high fives from the runners !!!

  5. This is an awesome giveaway! My number one supporter for fitness is my mom. She’s at all my races, cheering me on – rain or shine. I also love seeing spectators cheering on strangers. It makes races so much better!

  6. So fun! I love the signs you had made and I’m sure they really helped you dig deep and push hard in your run.
One of my favorite parts about races are all the spectators. It’s so nice to see so many people out there cheering for people they know and don’t know at all! But I especially love searching for and seeing a friend who I know is there for support. It means so much to me and really pushes me.

  7. I love the signs! So cute.

Racing is so much better when you have loved ones cheering you on!

  8. What a neat giveaway!

My sister and bf are my biggest supporters! I love it when they listen to my workout stories or better yet, workout with me. 🙂

  9. Jolene says:

OMG I LOVE this giveaway so much!! I’d love to have support like this during the half marathon in August because I am DETERMINED to kick its ‘asphault’ vs it kicking mine (like the one I ran last year). There is nothing like supporters cheering you on, but sisters truly make the difference…they are my biggest support!

  10. lindsay says:

i like the cheerleader that comes with the sign. Now that would be even cuter!!
I appreciate the little things from others, like a simple hug afterward a hard race, etc.

  11. Wendy says:

I have never had anyone come cheer me on at my races so to me the support of strangers is very valuable. The cheers and the signs they hold up are such and encouragement. I would like to win one of these and be able to offer this support to others.

  12. Michelle says:

I think those signs are fantastic. I always love seeing creative signs along my race routes, they always give me a little extra boost. I’d love to give a sign to my friends (if they’ll ever come cheer me on) to hold up for me.

  13. Brittany says:

I love the signs! They’re so exciting and motivating to see along races! When you’re a half-marathoner walker, alot of the spectators are gone when you are walking… so it would be nice to have signs there motivating you and pushing you along!

  14. Coco says:

The signs are fantastic! The first time I had a cheering section was at my 10 miler in April. (My husband usually is at the finish line). I looked forward to seeing my friends and was so thrilled when I saw them on sidelines waving. It really gave me energy to keep going.

  15. Kelley says:

When others encourage me to achieve my fitness goals it makes me much more likely to achieve them 🙂 when people were cheering at my 5k it put me on cloud 9! I think I even ran faster.

  16. NOTHING is better than hearing someone say your name during a race! Even if it’s a total stranger, it’s the best feeling. At mile 22 of a marathon, someone looked me in the eye and told me they believed in me- it still gives me chills just thinking about it!

  17. I was so excited to see my mother and Sean during my race and it provided me with just enough motivation to keep going.

  18. Way to go on your race!! YOu are amazing!! I am super proud of you and in awe at your speed, dedication, and determination!!

Those signs are super cute too! I think seeing those cute little faces (and signs) would be a huge mood booster for any runner!! 🙂

I appreciate support from others for my fitness goals when they tell me that I motivate them – or they see a difference in my own journey. It affirms that my hard work is showing. 🙂

  19. Miss M and the signs are both super cute! I bet she melted hearts as everyone passed 🙂 I love it when spectators/other racers/volunteers say something funny, clap or even just give encouraging words. You are right it is like that extra shot that you need. I recently watched my friend compete in a tri and was her cheerleader I think I had as much fun as a cheerleader as I would have as a participant. I made sure to cheer her on as well as all the other participants 🙂

  20. Kat says:

I especially love it when strangers are cheering you on! and knowing my hubby is at the finish line makes that last mile a little easier 😉

  21. sian says:

Cute signs! I always wondered how people got such professional looking signs!
My hubby encourages me to work out and takes the kids when ever I ask….thanks babe!

  22. Cheering really improves my race time. During my last 10k, spectators yelled “Go orange and white!” I didn’t know them, but that’s what I was wearing. I wonder if they know how much their support really energized me?!?

  23. It’s crazy, but I’ve never had someone come cheer for me? I hope one of these days! My husband always seems to be out of town, or I don’t bother to tell people, or whatever the case may be. It would be great!

  24. Lisa says:

Your daughter is ADORABLE holding that sign!

My boyfriend supports my fitness in so many ways. He fixes dinner on week nights when I am at the gym so when I get home, dinner is almost ready. That means a lot to me and helps so much!

  25. Having support from others in my fitness goals seriously is key! I love when my boyfriend gives me the extra push I need to get to the gym or get a run in and having my family and/or friends at my races always gives me the extra boost of energy that I need when I run past them on the sidelines! Its such a great feeling knowing that they are there to support you!

  27. Vanessa says:

You had the cutest cheerleader ever cheering you on!! This is such an awesome giveaway! I’d love to win and make a sign for my Mom who is running her 1st 5K in the Fall. It always makes me so excited and happy to see that my family, friends, or just awesome people get up early to come cheer me or their loved ones on in a race. It def makes me want to run faster!! I can’t wait to cheer my Mom on like she has done for me since I started running in road races 14yrs ago. She never complained about how early she had to get up, how far we had to drive at times, or how much the race entry fee was. She was a super Fan!! 🙂

  28. Heather says:

My family has been at everyone of my marathons and it makes a HUGE difference. At my last one, I truly felt like there was no way I could finish, but at mile 20 I saw my family screaming and cheering, and telling me I could do it and that I was kicking butt, and it was the spark I needed to not only finish but finish with a PR!! Having support at races is AWESOME!

  29. Brooke says:

it means the world to me that my hubby comes to my events – even the endurance ones that require him to hang out alone for an hour or two at a time.

  30. […] Faith Fitness Fun posted about some signs made for her blog for a race, which I thought was adorable. […]
