Confessions

I had a variety of Faith Fitness Fun t-shirts made through Spreadshirt.

Though slightly self-indulgent, I’m more than a little in love with them.

This morning was the first time I had showered since Tuesday night. Yeahhhh. Don’t know why I find showering daily so difficult.

I wish tanning didn’t harm the skin. I could go for the sun-kissed bronze skin of my yesteryears – before I got all freaked out from numerous mole removals/biopsies and forever banished myself to under the tent.

I can understand why parents used to leave their kids in the car and run into the store quickly. And I sometimes wish it was still socially acceptable – like today when I had to unload two kids to pick up ONE thing at the store.

I have a bad habit of never having cash on me. I had to use my credit card for said purchase at the store this morning – all $2.05 of it.

As much as I love green smoothies and as much as smoothies make perfect beach food, I honestly don’t plan on consuming a single bit of greens in smoothie form next week.

But I will bring my near empty jar of peanut butter along so I can have OIAJ. I clearly have my priorities in order. Peanut butter > spinach. Always.

I often have to take my own advice – like my healthy travel tips. I admit that vacation to me includes quite a few less nutritionally sound dining choices.

And I would be lying if I didn’t tell you I feel a wee bit anxious that could mean losing progress. I simply must remember to take things one decision at a time.

Lastly, I asked Peter if we have children’s Benadryl so Makenzie will sleep for the car ride down to Daytona. I was only half-kidding.

  • Are you good about having cash on hand?
  • Do you feel comfortable putting your blog name in the off-line public?

  1. those shirts are all sooooooooooooo prettyyyyy! I love the navy color, and I love the overall look of the yellow 😀 I always have cash with me!! always.

  2. Anna says:

Cute shirts! I am terrible at keeping cash on hand anymore 🙂

  3. Karen says:

I love all of your t-shirts!! I can relate to so many of your statements! I very rarely have cash and swipe my debit card for practically everything! I have definitely have used my card to purchase $2 worth of merchandise.

  4. Kristi says:

    Cute shirts!
I’ve thought the same thing about leaving my daughter in the car if I just have to run into the store. If only times were safe again.

  5. Your shirts are cute!

I never have cash… it’s a bad habit. I actually spend less when I use credit cards. If I have cash on me, I feel like it’s ‘fun’ money and spend it all on junk… like Starbucks…. and now I feel guilty for calling Starbucks junk 😉

PS- as a fellow many-mole-bioposies blogger, I feel your pain on missing the tan look 🙁

  6. I love those t-shirts, they are so cute!

  7. Love the shirts! And don’t stress about losing ground — you’re doing amazing and not every meal has to be perfect 🙂

  8. Jess says:

Cute shirts! Your vacation will be TOTALLY fine and you’ll come back ready to get at it again 🙂

  9. oh my gosh! The car thing! There is a mom at my gym who has 2 kids and always brings one in and then goes back out and gets the other. One time she came in and ate with the older one while the youngest finised napping in the car.

I am NOT judging, because I don’t know their situation, etc. etc… but it made me worried and scared!! I mean, sure it was only 5-10 minutes that she was sleeping in the car and the mom checked on her a couple times, but WHAT IF??!!

I don’t know about the blog/shirt thing…. I think if my blog got popular enough then I would definitely make them, maybe to wear to a race or something? I don’t know. Probably not casually around in public… like while grocery shopping or something? Ha. . Hey, bring more more visitors to the blog, sure why not?! 😉

    (sorry longest comment everrrrr!)

  10. Holly says:

We use our debit cards unless the place only takes cash. Makes life easier.

  11. Jess says:

OMG I love the shirts – and the comment about benadryl, what a riot. I would NOT blame you in the slightest!! I hope you have an awesome beach vaca and enjoy every second of it, guilt free!!

  12. Heather says:

confession: I have designed shirts on tehre before but never got them printed! I may have to do a couple before Healthy living Summit!
    have fun!

  13. Love the t shirts! I never have cash on me either:)

  14. Jennifer Rahn says:

Don’t worry about your loss of fitness. Nothing that you do this week can compare to the SEVEN pounds that I put on between Tuesday and the last time I weighed myself a month before. It was pretty depressing in the moment, but I identified the culprit: too much midnight snacking, and have eliminated it.

Anyway, bottom line: you can always undo the damage with careful, consistent, healthy habits.

    ENJOY your VACATION! 😉

    • Tina says:

That’s the approach I’m trying to take. Enjoy within reason and if it sets me back a couple pounds, so be it. Like you said – not like it won’t come back off and it’s the whole “it’s a marathon not a sprint” thing too. Thanks, Jennifer! 🙂

  15. Priyanka says:

    Cute Tshirts!

i don’t keep cash on me and use card all the way.

  16. Oh I’m digging the shirts! And I’m pretty bad about keeping cash on had. Way too used to plastic.

  17. I never have cash! ever! my husband gets so mad at me. He’s the type to have hundreds on him at all times, I whip the credit card out for a pack of gum.

  18. Cute shirts!! I love em’!

Eating on vacation is one of my favorite things…you get to have all this delicious food that you don’t normally do. I definitely indulge A LOT! Have fun! 🙂

  19. Naomi says:

oh i hardly have cash and if I do, i never have enough to use it for whtaever im getting…yeah I get coffees with my debit too haha

  20. I usually do have a bit of cash on hand since I babysit from time and time and they pay me in cash. And I LOVEEE your tee-shirts.. I’ve actually been thinking about making shirts for myself but a) I don’t know what to say (yet) and b) heddleston is such a long name lol.

  21. You have two children to take care of, that is a legitimate reason not to shower every day. Im not sure what MY excuse is though. 🙂

I never, ever, ever carry cash on hand. I always have a dollar in my purse for the grocery cart, but thats it. I pay for everything with my debit card, its just easier.

  22. Bari says:

    Cute shirts!

Cash? Yep, I usually have some cash. Hubs got tired of all the $5 debits, so I get an “allowance” now. The funny thing? I spend less now too.

  23. Alisha says:

I never have cash on me and I also hate taking Sydney anywhere that take 5 minutes. It will end with her possibly throwing a fit that she didn’t get to wander and explore for 30 minutes. I pretty much only take her somewhere that has shopping carts. If I had 2 kids, forget it! I also don’t shower daily though a one day skip is my limit unless I’m sick…especially if it’s a cleaning day. I don’t want to get dolled up and then clean for 2 hours.

  24. Coco says:

I try to keep cash on hand, but with two teenagers it vanishes quickly. Have a great vacay!

  25. Jolene says:

I want a t-shirt!! those are awesome! giveaway??? 😉 And I hate that I love being tan, I just love it. Guilty pleasure…but I should not do it either!

  26. I typically NEVER carry cash, which my parents think is crazy. Generational difference, I suppose.

  27. Lauren says:

    The shirts are so cute!

  28. Allison says:

Aww such fun and cute shirts!!! There is no one better to market you then YOU! Pretty sure i read that on a business motivational poster somewhere….

And i was cracking up about giving Makenzie benadryl lol though it would probably be easier for everyone even her lol!

  29. I love the shirts! Hope you plan on rocking them on your vacation! And I am sure 80% of the population doesn’t carry cash; we live in the technology age. Although I must admit I always feel odd when I do have to use my debit card for a purchase less than like $4.00 — don’t know why lol.

And I think if I had a long drive with kids .. I would probably take the benadryl myself lol since I am not good with kids haha

  30. LOVE THE SHIRTS and girl, you are looking amazing. This post was awesome. I NEVER have cash either and that must be so frustrating to unload the kids just to get one thing. PS I HATE showering and avoid it at all costs! I do feel comfortable putting my blog name out there:) Hope you are having an amazing weekend gorgeous girl!

  31. Erica says:

The shirts are adorable! Have you done spray tanning? I really want to try- a lot of the other instructors go. Enjoy the vaca! Whoop. I totally never have cash 🙂

  32. Love the t-shirts Tina! The colors look great! And an awesome way to get the word out about your blog too! I think I could do something like that before I could just tell a group of people about my blog. I find that it’s just easier if they see it for themselves vs me trying to explain it to them…”um, so you take pictures of your food??” Yeah, that’s not quite it! 😉

I hardly EVER have cash on me! I got you beat…today I bought a bottle of water with my debit card…grand total = 0.89! Haha!

    • Tina says:

Last night at the restaurant our waitress was questioning me about my food photos. I told her I’m a blogger and I think that made her even more confused. LOL

  33. rofomom says:

Rarely have cash. Working on being more confident with my blog offline. Love the shirts oh and I’ve had several moles removed/biopsys, too. Sun screen and tents for me, too!! Another advantage is fewer wrinkles 🙂

  34. Rach says:

I so love your teeshirts! How cute is that! And girl, I am all about shame-less self promotion. You are doing what you love so why not share it?! 🙂

I’m awful about having cash on me. I try to keep $5 on me for just-in-case times, but it’s rare I remember, haha!

  35. Becca says:

    I like the shirts!! 😀

I don’t tan; I BURN. And it sucks. Summer of 09 was the worst; I spent like two hours in a pool with the youth group and neglected to put on sunscreen; I had red shoulders for at least (no joke) two months. Oops!

I almost always have cash in my wallet. I am terrible at recording things in my checkbook; cash is so much easier for me! But I don’t spend a whole lot; I’m a saver. My sister’s the spender–spends faster than she earns, it seems. 🙁
My parents told me that sometime before I move in August, they’re going to make sure I have a credit card for kind of just-in-case situations.

My blog is kind of my personal little diary, so I haven’t shared it off-line much at all. If people happen to stumble across it somehow, great, but as of yet I’m not really promoting it. Maybe that’ll change this fall when I move (thinking about changing things up just a little bit), but we’ll see…

  36. I NEVER have cash. Kind of embarrassing! I also routinely forget my credit card…

  37. I love the t-shirts, especially the Keep the Faoth one! I am going to check out that site now and I may just make some of my own shirts to inspire during my workouts.

I hear about the kids. I now have three of them and avoid going to the store with all 3 of them as much as possible!

  38. Pre-waitressing, I NEVER had cash and always used my debit card for every purchase.. no matter how small!
    Have fun on vacation!

  39. Danica says:

LOVE those shirts! Are you selling them? You should 🙂

    • Tina says:

I could open a shop through Spreadshirt, but question doing so. I would love to make them available to those who want them but don’t want it to be “selling out” like I’m trying to get $ off of you lovely blends!

  40. Mac says:

Terrible about having cash on hand! It is annoying to me when I swipe my card for a $1 item, but what are you going to do when you don’t carry the green, right? The shirts are very cute!

  41. Lee says:

I never have cash. I’ve definitely used a card for a soda at a gas station before.

I don’t like my blog name, so I feel sort of silly telling it to people. I think it’s the tummy part. Tummy is a silly word.

  42. I neverrr carry cash on me! I don’t like to see the money I’m spending 🙂

I love the shirts you had made! Super cute..

Yes, peanut butter is > spinach for sure!!

  43. Amy Lauren says:

Those shirts are awesome! I love the one that says More than diets and workouts. That’s my favorite :).

My parents used to leave me in the car to go in the store when I was a kid. I really don’t see anything wrong with it, I mean, I turned out just fine :). I was like 7 or 8 though, and knew to just stay in the car until they came back, but I also grew up in a small town. Pretty sure if I raise kids where I currently live, I’ll be much more paranoid.

I wish more of my offline friends read my blog. I don’t think they really care, haha.

And as far as cash goes, I almost always pay in cash. When I try to spend cash, I spend less money overall, it really helps with saving. The only things I use cards for are gas (because I really don’t like carrying more than $50 cash), things you *have* to use cards for (hotel room, etc), and the occasional meal out. Really, ever since I started using cash envelopes I have spent less… it’s a Dave Ramsey principle and I don’t agree with him on some things but I will say it’s worked…

    • Tina says:

I have heard of the cash in envelopes thing. It’s funny though because when I have cash I find myself spending more, so I don’t do that. We do have a budget spreadsheet that we update EVERY night to make sure we’re on track with spending. So important to stay on top of, huh? 🙂

  44. vivoir says:

what did you think about McDonalds’ breakfast options? Given how much bad press it’s had about it all

    • Tina says:

I haven’t had McD’s breakfast in I don’t even know how long so I’m not sure how I feel about it. I do think their oatmeal has a lot of unnecessary sugary add-ins though.

  45. Karolina says:

Love the shirts that you’ve made:) I’m really really bad at keeping cash on hand. In fact, i almost never have any on me, which gets me into trouble if I happen to stumble upon somewhere that only takes cash. yikes…
