Greetings From The Road!

Posted: June 11, 2011 at 8:16 am

Hey, ya’ll! Greetings from South Georgia! We’re currently taking a bit of a pit stop at the halfway point for our road trip to Daytona Beach. Peter likes to get a super early head start on our travels. We loaded up the car last night, minus a few last minute items to toss in before leaving, and managed to get on the road by 4:30 am.

We had high hopes of the children falling back to sleep. I laugh at my own cruel sense of humor. Braedon did fall back asleep relatively quickly, but a particular little girl remained bright eyed and bushy tailed in her excitement for the beach.

I love seeing her anticipation!

Her energy ended up rubbing off on me, so instead of dozing back off myself, I cracked open my netbook for a little productivity while Peter drove. I had to get started on a more detailed outline to send to my fellow HLS panelistsLisa, Beth, and Janetha - sometime soon. When you’re a busy mom, you make use of time wherever you can find it, including on the road! Nothing feels quite as nice as banging out a good portion of work before breakfast. And speaking of breakfast…

IMGP9920

We stopped at Starbucksto get a quick, satisfying oatmeal breakfast. And I told you I planned to use that almost empty peanut butter jar I hoarded!

IMGP9922

To make my travel OIAJ, I added a Starbucks oatmeal with dried fruit to my jar…and proceeded to stick my tongue out at all the gawkers checking out the weird girl with her own peanut butter jar. Okay, not really. I want to leave a good impression and all since I’m sporting one of my new Faith Fitness Fun shirts.

Well, now that we have reached the pit stop time quota set by Commandeer Peter, I better get signing off. But not without leaving you with the FFF Features first!

She just started a personal blog to share about her 2nd pregnancy (!!!), a healthy lifestyle, and her life as a mom and (amazing amazing) photographer. Please give her some love!

Alrighty…I hope you all have a good one. Catch you later at the beach!

  • Are any of your “real-life” friends also bloggers? For the record – I hate the term “real-life” friends. You all are very much REAL friends to me. We need to find a new term to express friends outside the blog relationship! Suggestions?

  1. Ha, if I had seen you emptying your oatmeal into that jar, I wouldn’t have thought you’re weird, I’d just have been SUPER jealous that I didn’t have one, too! Enjoy the rest of your road trip, Tina!

  2. Haha! Glad to hear the road trip is going well so far! I love how you brought your own peanut butter jar to Starbucks. I get weird looks from my own family when I have OIAJ at home, I can only imagine how weird it must look to “outsiders”.
    Enjoy your weekend! 😀

  3. Yay for road trips! I love going on road trips. I hope you have a great vacation!

  4. Lee says:

My cousin Emily also blogs – her blog is http://emilylevenson.com/custom-made-blog

  5. Oh my gosh, can her face get any cuter!? Little kids at the beach are just adorable, can’t wait to see pics of them once you get there.
I have totally brought my own pb jar to Starbucks before too. I bring a baggie filled with my own toppings as well. Their oatmeal is my go-to any time I’m on the road. Good luck with the rest of the trip!

  6. I think I need my own FFF t shirt to sport! what do ya say?! have a good time at the beach!

  7. Would you believe me if I said that I’ve never been to Daytona Beach? And I’m only about an hour away! How weird!

    Enjoy your vacation!!! 😀

  8. Amanda says:

I love that you brought your peanut butter jar with you! That made me smile. I am also a proud follower of your friend =) I don’t have any “real life” friends who blog consistently; they’ve started but as life happens, the blog takes a back seat.

  9. Jolene says:

ha! GREAT idea to use the peanut butter jar that way. GENIUS! I do have a couple of friends ‘real-life’ (know what you mean about that term! so true) that do blog, but most do not. Good question though! Have fun in Daytona!!

  10. Alisha says:

Where in South Georgia did you stop? I’m from Warner Robins and have traveled 75 well in all of our trips to Florida. I think it’s a great idea that you added the oatmeal to the pb jar…genius!

I have a friend who is blogging right now about her 30 days decked out as Princess Leia. She’s a pretty good writer and I told her she should continue it. She said it’s a lot more work than she thought. I don’t know how she found the time at all. She’s probably the busiest person I know.

    Have a great trip!

  11. Amy Lauren says:

Haha, yeah I guess it would be kinda odd for the Starbucks worker to see someone bringing in their own peanut butter jar for the oatmeal. They probably see people bringing in coffee cups all the time but oatmeal jars, not hardly :). I hope you guys have a great time on vacation, too!

Only a few of my real life friends blog… and most of them aren’t super close friends. A lot of my coworkers blog, but it’s techie blogs about software, haha, so I don’t read much!

  12. Mandy says:

Too funny about M being wide awake!! I know B would have been the same way!! Love your OIAJ… mmm 🙂

Thanks for the blog shout out–I promise to be good about keeping up with this one!

Have a great drive and tell Commander Peter I said hello 😉

    xoxo

  13. I was just in Daytona Beach — I missed you by 2 weeks, but would have loved to have met you!

  14. lindsay says:

safe travels friend. Enjoy the down time!

  15. Your little girl is adorable! Have a wonderful vacation. 🙂

  16. Jess says:

None of my friends even know about my blog!! Haha, only my boyfriend/family. Most of my friends are not really into fitness/eating well..so I don’t think it would interest them much. But I wish I had real-life blogger friends. Someday 😀

  17. Karen says:

I love the smile on B’s face in that picture! He looks so happy! I have a few “real-life” friends that have personal blogs where they share stories about their families and kids but no other bloggers that talk about workouts/foods/healthy living.

Hope the rest of your trip is smooth! Have a great time at the beach!

  18. um… that cheesecake looks DIVINE! YUM!

  19. Anna says:

I am saving a near empty jar of peanut butter for an upcoming road trip for a job interview ^_^

There a couple of my friends from college that have blogs. One of them introduced me to the world of blogs 🙂

    Enjoy your trip!

  20. Becca says:

Your kids are just so cute!!!! (Notice my multiple exclamation points.) Love that pic of B + Grandpa!! 🙂

One of my “real-life” friends has a Tumblr, if that counts… Two or three of our pastors have blogs, but they don’t update them as much as they used to…

  21. i’m so jealous, i want to go to the beach with you guys! i totally crack open the laptop to and from work sometimes (when nate’s driving obviously)…makes such a difference to know that i have almost everything done before we get home!

  22. Kacy says:

One of my non-blog friends started a blog after I started mine. I was so excited about it!
I consider you all real friends too!

  23. That photo of your dad with baby B is so cute! You should print and frame it for him for Father’s day!

Can’t wait to hear from you 🙂

It’s kind of funny. I become a certified personal trainer and the first workouts I turn to this week come from someone else. The book came in for me at the library last week and, after flipping through it, I couldn’t wait to give the circuits a go. Making The Cut includes a lot of […]
