Month 6 Progress

Posted: July 7, 2011 at 4:00 pm

I first want to say thank you to those of you showing support for me as a Fitfluential ambassador! I wouldn’t have the chance, or guts, to reach for any of my goals without your support. You all are so awesome! If you missed it this morning – and think I would make a good fit to represent my area - feel free to keep the support coming now. 🙂

Back to Body After Baby…

Braedon turns 6 months old on Monday. Another four weeks have passed since my last check-in and update on the Body After Baby progress. Those four weeks included quite a lot of excitement – picking up half marathon training, a week long vacation to the beach, and officially stepping out to begin personal training certification. Despite a busy month with quite a few out of the norm events and occasional added stress, I put in effort to remain consistent with my eating habits, workouts, and self-care.

Yet again, consistency makes little changes that add up over time.

Boy I look sleepy in my recent pictures! Hahaha!

Month 6 Progress Stats

This Month’s Progress Overall Total Progress
Weight - 2.0 lbs - 18.0 lbs
Stomach (Smallest) - 0.25” - 3.75”
Stomach (Belly Button) - 0.25” - 5.25”
Hips - 0.5” - 4.5”
Butt - 0.5” - 4.5”
Thighs - 0.0” - 2.75”

I didn’t expect to see much change this month. Not only because of a vacation, but also because I know I’m very close to the goal I had set out to achieve. I managed to get back into my goal jeans after all! So where do I go from here?

For starters, I am retiring the scale again. I think it worked great as a tool to help me lose the baby weight. Now, I feel I have done that and don’t want to find myself caught up in trying to reach some arbitrary number or lose more more more. I maintained a healthy relationship with the scale, but also don’t see a need for it from here on out where simply knowing my body and noting how clothes fit will provide enough information for my current goals with my body.

I plan to focus on my half marathon training and keeping consistent with regular workouts.

I plan to focus on maintaining healthy eating habits.

I also plan on continuing my monthly progress check-ins with photos and measurements. Mainly because I planned to document my body and how it changes the first year post-pregnancy and I want to follow through with a full year’s experience. I want to continue to share this journey with you all. I also believe my body will continue to change over the remainder of the year as I challenge myself with new fitness goals and workouts. I want to document these possible changes as a natural part of my lifestyle, beyond the “lose the baby weight / get back in shape” goal.

In short, I know I have achieved my original goals and what I set out to do. I have reached my “happy place”. However, the healthy lifestyle doesn’t end. Consistency will continue to make little changes that add up to the happiest, fittest, and most energized quality of life and self I will continue to grow to see. I feel there now, but that doesn’t mean my decisions and habits won’t  keep building upon that solid foundation. So where do I go from here? I live. The healthy lifestyle I adore.

  • What do you usually do when you meet a goal? I usually find a new goal to work towards (half marathon training, personal training certification!) but still focus on building the habits and actions that helped me achieve previous goals.

  1. again, so impressed! you look great!
    small changes is definitely key!

  2. Absolutely amazing!! You rock my friend!!!

  3. You’re amazing and inspiring!

  4. You rock and every single way possible! 😉
I’m currently working towards a goal of trying to shed a couple lbs…nothing crazy, and I don’t really even blog about it. But when I notice all of my clothes getting tighter, that’s when I know I need to buckle down. Unfortunately, it’s not going very well…ahem, my latest baking project proves that one!

    • Tina says:

If its any consolation I think you look beautiful and fit. 🙂 But I know what you mean. Clothes don’t lie and simply making more conscious decisions is never a bad thing. I bet you’ll be back to normal soon. Especially since things like the 4th and baking sprees will probably be slowing down. Although I’m personally glad you did yours. It was all so delicious looking! And I’m making those cookie brownie things next chance I get.

  5. I am so impressed Tina! You have done so well and you look great!

When I meet a goal, I make another one, but not until after I celebrate/get my reward for meeting the original goal 🙂

You look freaking amazing!! I’ve been looking forward to reading this post this week!! I can’t believe it has been six months (fully that we both wrote six month posts today) since you had the baby and you just look fantastic. I love how you have approached this, I love that you are retiring the scale and I love how at peace you are with your body. I hope to have peace with mine soon too (getting there). 🙂

  7. You look incredible!!! Love your attitude towards exercising and eating 🙂

  8. So proud of you!!! So beautiful my sweet friend 🙂

  9. You are SUCH an inspitration. You have such an amazing attitude towards everything, I am constantly impressed 🙂 Great work! Good luck on your half marathon training!

  10. lindsay says:

watch out peter!! you got one hot mama!

  11. Awesome job! You look fantastic! 😀

  12. 1. I can’t believe it’s been a month already, I feel like I JUST read your last update post.
    2. You look amazing, seriously.

  13. Keren says:

    Tina-

You look AWESOME! I can’t even believe that you had a baby 6 months ago. Congratulations!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. It is inspiring and takes the “scary” out of having a baby (at least for those of us that are childless and wonder what will happen once the baby comes….). You are my role model!

I am having a hard time setting a fitness goal. I set one for the 4th of July (it was a time endurance on the elliptical). But now that I have met that I am sort of at a stand still. I, too, am trying not to use the scale as a measure and would much more prefer to complete a physical task. Any suggestions? My husband was no help. He said I should do 100 push ups on my toes by Labor Day. Who does he think I am? She-ra, princess of power?

Anyway, congrats on your reaching goal! 🙂

    • Tina says:

I know there are push up challenges out there – I forget what its called – but something like that could be fun. Maybe not 100 in a row but still something like that to work towards? Or a goal of trying anew workout once a week? Tons of options!

  14. Ow, Ow! You look amazing!! I can only hope to look that great after having a baby (or two). Congratulations on reaching your goal; you are an inspiration to us all with your amazing attitude (and good looks!).

  15. Jess says:

A-MAZING my dear!!! I can’t get over it – you’ve done such a stellar job of getting your body back in the most ridiculously balanced way possible and I SO respect you for that (even more than I did before!). My husband was peeking over my shoulder at this post so I showed him your one-month pics and then your pics today and he was like “Wow! She looks great!” so see – there ya go, some male perspective too. You’re a hot mama!! PS. I LOVE that you are ditching the scale again, very cool.

  16. Anna says:

Congratulations! You are doing so great having such a positive mindset that focuses on what truly matters! You are so encouraging!

  17. I continue to be impressed with your progress! You should be sooooo proud. 🙂

    Killer abs!!!

  18. Dani says:

You look great!! Good job! I think putting away the scale IS a good idea 🙂

  19. You look great and are such an inspiration! I am glad you are retiring the scale since you reached your goal. That is all that matters! Keep up the good work.

  20. Congratulations! You look amazing!

  21. Congratulations on your amazing progress. You really look fabulous! It’s hard to balance it all as a mom. Keep it up! You’re an inspiration!

  22. Wow, you look amazing Tina!

  23. Alexandra says:

You look great! You should be so proud of your progress!! 😀

  24. Dorry says:

You are such an inspiration! Not only because you look great, set and goal, and met it, but because you’re retiring the scale at just the right time! It served its purpose, and now it could pose to push you to a place you don’t want or need to go. When I reach a goal, I usually switch gears to another goal – maybe something completely different and unrelated.

  25. Jill says:

Thank you for sharing your journey and helping realize that I too can do it. You are a true inspiration to me and I feel so lukcy that I found your blog! You look GREAT!!!

  26. Erica says:

whooooooooop! Love that you are THERE! ah! So awesome. a 6 month celebration for you and the peanut!!!

  27. Sarah says:

You look amazing! I’d never ever believed you had a baby 🙂 Good luck with the marathon training, etc.

  28. Cynthia says:

    You look so amazing!!

  29. You look great and I always appreciate your honesty on your blog 🙂

  30. You continue to wow and inspire me Tina, you look gorgeous and your mental approach to this whole thing is just great!
Thank you for sharing this journey 🙂

  31. Tina, I know I don’t comment very often, but words can’t begin to express what an inspiration you are to me. Your philosophy about health–and what defines it–encourages me in my no-longer black and white life. Sometimes it’s easier to live in the extremes. Balance, after all is a fuzzy place that requires effort. But it’s totally worth it, and your posts are always an affirmation to that fact. 🙂

Congrats on the progress you’ve made!! Your beauty is radiating both inside and out!

I’m on my way over to support you as a FitFluential Ambassador!

    • Tina says:

Thanks! And it can sometimes be hard for me too to want that black and white thinking but then I remember all the difficulty it gave me before.

  32. Congrats!! You look great!!

  33. May says:

Congrats, you look great! I, too, have given up the scale as of last week. My little boy is 6 1/2 months old, so I’ve really enjoyed following you there past few months!!

    • Tina says:

How fun to have our baby boys close together! Love when there are others in the same place. And good job for retiring the scale if its not needed for you either. Freeing, no?

  34. Michelle says:

Woot Woot for almost meeting your goal!!! AND fitting into your goal jeans. You look amazing!

When I meet one goal — I set another. Maybe it’s the Type A in me, maybe it’s the thrill of reaching a goal, but goals give me something to LIVE for. I know I can ALWAYS be better.

  35. GO you!!! Both for what you have accomplished and for putting the scale away!!

  36. get it girl!!! you are my hero!

  37. SO SO impressed – I can’t believe the progress! you’re gorgeous!

  38. Lauren says:

You are one hot mama! 🙂

  39. You look fabulous!! Yep, I’m like you. Meet one goal, make a new one.

  40. Rebekah says:

You look awesome Tina!! Congrats on getting into your goal jeans!

Come to think of it, I usually just reward myself to a treat of some sort (dinner out, a movie, shopping) when I reach a goal, but they do tend to be more short-term. My current personal goal is to creat a budget and actually follow it! Eek!

  41. Helen says:

You look great! It is wonderful to see your progress after baby, and such an inspiration to people that are preparing to enter into the world of pregnancy/babies soon.

I am the same with making a new goal once I have reached one. You must keep goals in your life.

  42. Dawn says:

Sometimes we all need a break from the scale. The progress pictures show that what you’re doinf is working. Keep it up!

  43. First of all I cannot believe its been 6 months already. Holy man that flew by!
Second, you look phenomenal. You have worked so hard, and it definitely shows. Way to go Tina. You’re such an inspiration. 🙂

  44. Katherine says:

Those are amazing goals – good luck and I’m excited to read your progress!

What personal training program are you doing? I’ve been looking into a few, but it’s hard to decipher what’s the best.

    • Tina says:

I chose nasm based on what is popular in my area, their reputation, and the support in continuing education I have heard.

  45. Amanda Perry says:

You look incredible! You are such an inspiration. I posted my one month progress today and definitely have a similar plan of attack to yours. I always tell my friends and clients that it’s best not to do anything crazy and just to work at making good decisions by eating well and working out. That’s what truly works in the end. You have shown that! 🙂

  46. Katie H says:

Tina you look amazing! I cannot believe that you gave birth six months ago. You are such an inspiration!

I love having goals. Once I meet one I start thinking about the next one. 🙂

  47. Anne P says:

    Girl, you look fab. 🙂

  48. I think it’s so awesome that you were able to use the scale and then realize when you didn’t need it anymore. I am very inspired by that!
