Moley Moley Moley Mooooollllleeee

This day started off on a super high note. How could it not with this for breakfast?

IMGP1389-1

Hello, fabulous. Looking mighty fine. I nabbed two thick slices of my Pumpkin Carrot Cake Bread I whipped up yesterday afternoon along with a banana for my breakfast this morning.

IMGP1390-1

It looks like a small breakfast, but it was actually really filling and satisfying. That bread is so dense, but still so moist, chewy, and nutty. It’s perfection. As Chandler would say. Winking smile

I also had two cups of coffee because I simply had to go back for a second cup. I didn’t have iced coffee ready (sad day) so had to settle with the hot stuff. I figured if I was going to make hot coffee and have some pumpkin flavah, then why not do some pumpkin coffee?

IMGP1393-1

I tossed a hefty sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice directly into my coffee grounds and brewed up my coffee. It gives it a subtle pumpkin taste, but such a rich aroma.

IMGP1376-1

How I get my pumpkin coffee fix most of the time. Have to save on the moolah.

After breakfast and reading/playing with the kids for awhile, I decided to actually shower before 10 am today. It’s a rare occurrence. I even remembered to put on my everyday body lotion with SPF.

Yet another thing I have been slacking on. I’m good at remembering the SPF face lotion, but I haven’t been on top of my game with the body lotion. Why did it matter today? Because in my mind it will keep  my dermatologist from scolding me for being overdue for a check-up.

Kind of like flossing the week you have a dentist appointment or taking extra time to style your hair before a salon visit. Winking smile

So, I had the pleasure of spending an hour of my day getting looked over head to toe. Well, only about 20 minutes was the actual check-up. Why do doc offices insist you spend most of your waiting time naked in paper robes staring at a white wall? Just how I want to spend my time.

The visit went well though. I had one mole removed to get tested…which seems to happen every time. I’m not too concerned but better safe than sorry. I’m just a mole-y, freckle-y gal. Which automatically makes me think of that scene from Austin Powers with the mole. Moley moley moley moley. Moooolllllleeeeeeee.

Well, I think I better end that post here before I spew any other randomness at you. Hope you’re having a great afternoon!

  • Do you regularly visit a dermatologist?
  • Do you do anything to “special prep” for certain appointments?

    That breakfast looks delish!

I use to put cinnamon in my coffee maker, would also leave a little flavor in the coffee for a change.

  2. I started going to the derm this year, I had a mole on my back since I was little, but it was changing shape, which is never a good sign. Luckily it was cancer free, just an entreprenuer haha. I’m the same as you, just freckly!

I love adding spices to my hot coffee, it makes it so much better!

  3. why have I never thought of adding pumpkin pie spice to the actual grounds rather than the finished product? you smartypants. 😉

AAAND I need to go to the derm. badly.

  4. Amy says:

I love the idea of putting pumpkin pie spice in the coffee maker for a subtle flavor! Brilliant 😉

…I am totally guilty of “flossing 3x a day the week before I go to the dentist”. Also, I’m kind of a sporadic vitamin taker, so I always make sure to be diligent with that the week before any doctor’s appointments.

  5. Whoa, are you supposed to style your hair before you go to the salon? Is that a thing?? I never do that. Usually my hair looks like crap when I go!

  6. I don’t see a dermatologist. I do go to my regular doctor at least once per year so if I have concerns I can just ask her.

Adding pumpkin pie spice to the coffee grounds is such a good idea!

  7. I’ve never been to a dermatologist… my aunt is a PA who works for one, so I just have her check out anything I’m concerned about. Love your $ saving idea! 🙂

  8. ohhh yeah I’ve had 2 moles removed on my back (both benign!) but I have a nasty scar from one of them that’s right where the edge of my sports bra is.. so it’s still irritated all the time! No good 🙁

  9. Dude, I want some of that bread! Actually, funny that you put pumpkin spice in your coffee. I had never thought of doing anything like that until last night when I noticed my boyfriend adding brownsugar to his normal coffee for the morning. Genius! Guess I’ll be trying pumpkin next!

  10. Whitney says:

The breaky looked yum-o!! I had a Green smoothie and everyone in my ER said it looked nasty!! haha! It really did! And I go to the dermatologist once a year because my Mom had melanoma and I want to be safe! I had one taken off my toe in December when I was 7 months preggo!! BTW, we are having lots of little 5Ks in the big LG, if you wanna drive and hour to run! lol

  11. Amy Lauren says:

I went to a derm last December to get a mole removed. I’ve had several removed, but none have been cancer. My mom has had skin cancer (melanoma), so I try to keep an eye on things. But, my derm just said to come in if I’ve noticed a change. It’s super important, I really realized that when she had melanoma. They removed it all, so she didn’t have to deal with chemo or anything, but imagine if she hadn’t caught it, ya know?

Haha, I always brush my teeth before the dentist (why? they already clean them there!). But the salon… nah.

  12. I usually pull the ‘floss my teeth the week before the dentist’ thing…which reminds me, I’m going on Tuesday!

I wish I had thought of adding pumpkin pie spice to my coffee before I bought {okay, my mom bought it} pumpkin spice coffee at Fresh Market!

  13. I am very moley too and have had numerous amounts of moles removed. There have been some atypical moles but fortunately I haven’t had any that have been cancerous. I am religious about putting sunscreen when I am outside but I don’t put it on if I am not going to be outside (except for my face).

  14. Ashley says:

    How about some Guaca-mollllleeeee?

    Love that scene 🙂

  15. I made my 1st trip to my dermatologist this year and had a freckle removed. I’m glad I did – still cant believe I had never been before. Good job for going!

it is better SAFE than sorry – i really don’t want to die because of a freckle…that would just suck…

    xoxo from Trinidad

  16. Pumpkin carrot cake! Ummm..yum!!!! 😛

  17. We have a Keurig, so I just ordered some Pumpkin Spice K-Cups..can’t wait!! Smart idea making your own!
I go about every two years (bad, I know) to the dermatologist to get checked.

  18. Ha love this post, made me laugh all around 🙂

I totally relate to the flossing 3x a day a week before a dentist appointment, yep that’s me! 😉

  19. Ha, I love that Austin Powers movie. It still makes me laugh. I’m sorry you had one removed. My mom is like that too. It’s like she has something taken off every time she goes to the doc now.

  20. I always floss and brush my teeth before I visit the dentist. I don’t want to be that girl who had food stuck in her teeth…not to mention I would feel so bad for the hygenist and dentist having to clean that!!

  21. Love the spice in the coffee idea! I will have to try that out and stat!

I go to the dermatologist at least once a year, if not more. The funny thing is that even though I go often, there is always a different issue! Haha. Weird. But luckily my doctor is super nice 🙂

  22. That’s a great idea to add pumpkin pie spice to the grounds…who needs Starbucks?!?

Actually, I totally still need Starbucks 😉

  23. WOW! What a great idea with the coffee and spices! I am sooooo gonna try that!!! You have the best ideas and recipes. Oh my.

    😀

  24. Lauren says:

I had a mole biopsied, then later removed at the dermatologist. It came back moderately atypical, so it’s a good thing they could catch it early and remove it. I didn’t expect the surgery to leave a 4 inch scar from stitches though!

  25. I love adding the spices of pumpkin pie to my coffee grounds when I make it. I do the same for gingersnap style coffee.

I get a check up every year after some suspicious moles. I don’t ever want to get that scared again.

  26. I have actually never been to the dermatologist, I probably need a good check up, but sadly it just never seems to make the list…bad I know!

    • Tina says:

Hey – I was told to come back in 6 months…2 years later… LOL And before I finally started going to the dentist regularly again late last year it had been over 5 years. It’s hard making it to the doc sometimes. 😉

  27. Jessica says:

I’ve been going regularly for a few years…so far I have had to have 4 moles removed. As in: cut out and stitched up and scars to boot. All different places. All zero percent fun. BUT way better than cancer.

  28. Hilary says:

I’ve only ever been to a dermatologist once. I, too, am very mole-y and went once for one that looked a little funny.

  29. STUFT Mama says:

What a great idea to add pumpkin pie spice to coffee grounds. Genius! 🙂 I missed out on all your Friends fun (I was really trying to think of a funny one to add to your list, but couldn’t). I’ve only been to the dermatologist once. I should probably go again. Love the “special prep” question. 🙂

  30. Mac says:

Agreed! Fantastic idea… never in a million years would I have thought of that!

  31. I haven’t seen normal body lotion with SPF added — what brand is it? PS: Genius to add the spice to your coffee! Genius!

    • Tina says:

Eucerin. It goes on really light. The only complaint I have about it is it does have a slight sunscreen smell…but I don’t really notice it too much.

  32. This cajun/irish girl needs to go to the dermatologist more than likely! My dad has had several melanomas removed; and that’s where my grandpa’s cancer started (on the skin) before it spread to his lungs and liver! But being a nurse makes one slightly more stubborn than everyone else 😉

  33. Khushboo says:

That breakfast looks delicious..it always amazes me how things like larabars, homemade breads, etc can be so filing and satisfying even though they don’t seem that big! I am glad u went to the doctor about the mole–> defo better safe than sorry!

  34. Mac says:

I tried it! It is awesome! Posted it in tonight’s post 🙂
