I Aced It!

Posted: October 5, 2011 at 7:01 am

After I left you last night with my crazy stories, the day finally decided to settle down. Thank goodness because I don’t think I could have taken any more “excitement”. I wanted to keep things as simple as possible for the remainder of the night – starting with dinner. I don’t think you can get any easier than leftovers!

IMGP1876-1

Or any cozier than a bowl of homemade tomato soup and a grilled cheese + hummus + tomato sandwich. Yep. That food kick is still kicking hard.

My sister was sick this week, so last night’s sister night got cancelled. Sad smile

It ended up being an okay thing, though. I broke out the flashcards for a long round of review, then took a practice quiz on the NASM learning center.

I aced that section! Whoop! I have obviously been studying my little booty off. Going over my personal mountains of flashcards every chance I get. Taking every single quiz/test/review I can in the learning center. My OCD self wants to ace the actual exam too. I’m going to do my best to make that happen! Just have to do my CPR training in a couple of weeks and schedule my test.

I also spent the night watching Glee instead of The Biggest Loser. A show that ended at 9 instead of 10 pm was a must last night. I had an early wake-up call this morning. I would like to tell 4:40 am – you stink!!!

We have some special plans later in the day, as long as Makenzie wakes up 100%. The only time I could fit my workout in was first thing in the morning. I’m apparently all about making my workouts happen this week, so I set the alarm for beyond-too-early and got my booty to the gym shortly after 5 am.

I did some upper body weights in a half asleep state.

  • Superset One: Narrow Lat Pulldown + Machine Bench Press
  • Superset Two: Overhand Barbell Row + Dumbbell Chest Press
  • Superset Three: Hammer Biceps Curls + Triceps Kickbacks

Nothing to write home about, but I got it in and could feel the blood pumping.

Then, I pedaled myself awake in spin class. I had never taken a class with this instructor before and had never even heard of him. I think he was half asleep too. It took a long while to feel any sort of energy for my workout. I don’t know how you early birds do it.

Time to go check on Makenzie! I hope she’s all better so our little field trip can happen. Be back later with an update…and that lasagna recipe I keep promising. Until then, Happy Wednesday! Smile

  1. Katie says:

Congrats girl! You will rock the actual test when it comes time, you really have been studying I see ; )

    Happy Wednesday! xoxo

  2. Lauren says:

You are so ready for this thing girl! I know you’ll ace the real thing too.

  3. Khushboo says:

Wow great going girly! I love Biggest Loser and aint so much a fan of Glee so that one’s easy! I was totally OCD about grades…like yourself, I did every single practice test- sure helped :)!

  4. Glee last night was AWESOME! That song that Brittany did about Girls was so incredible. And umm… sometimes shows have to end at 8 for me. I wish I were joking, but after the show ends I have to get lunches packed, breakfasts prepped and into bed BY 9!

  5. awesome test score! did you know you can do the cpr course online? i did that when i was a nanny – it’s so simple!

  6. Sue says:

Wow, congrats on your results, and on getting your workout in at 5 freaking am! I’m not a morning person, so I’m extra impressed.
I used to be very OCD about my grades back in high school, but loosened up a little in college. It’s enough to be “good”, I don’t need to be the best to be happy anymore.
I’d rather watch Glee! But sadly I can’t watch none of them right now.

  7. WootWoot! Congrats girly! You rock 😀

  8. Holly says:

Awesome job on your practice tests!! I’m kind of OCD about them, too–I took my Teacher’s Licensure Exams a month and a half ago and I knew I wanted to do way better than the 80% minimum passing requirement.

I would rather watch Glee, although I love both and am really behind on both. :/ I work when they air and I hate watching things online, so I always fall behind!

  9. oh girl, i was definitely OCD about grades! a B was NOT ok and i would cry if i got one! how terrible is that? but it helped me with my work ethic!

  10. I would definitely rather watch Glee than the Biggest Loser. I actually don’t watch either of those shows, though.

Great job on your practice test. I wasn’t OCD about grades in high school or college, but once I started taking my master’s classes, I was. Weird how that works.

  11. Lee says:

    Great job Tina!

I would rather watch Glee. I’m not a huge fan of either show, but I find TBL rather boring.

Have fun with your special plans!

  12. Kelly says:

I have never seen Glee and the Biggest Loser annoys me…so that’s a hard one for me. I usually spend my Tuesday nights watching Castle that I tivoed the night before because Monday Night Football was on.

  13. lindsay says:

look at you, get in the early spin! it is tough and takes time, thats for sure!
I’m all about GLEE vs. Biggest loser for sleep reasons too.
    haha.

  14. I know you will ace the exam! I am very OCD when it comes to certain exams and classes. In culinary school, I HAD to do well and I did! I know I’ll be the same way when it comes to my nutrition coach exam!

  15. Oh yes, very OCD about grades. You’re going to rock that test!! Then I need you to tutor me 😉

  16. Sarah says:

Biggest Loser for sure. I used to watch Glee but I’ve just been disappointed this season.

  17. Awesome job on the flashcards! Remember doing those too – studying for that exam actually made me happy – it was hard, but well worth it!
    Thanks for the shout-out, girl!

  18. Congratulations! Way to turn that day around and kick ass on your practice test, girl. What a confidence booster. 🙂

Oh, and Glee. Hands down, Glee.

  19. I LOVE grilled cheese and tomato soup! Mmmm. Great choice for dinner – you can never go wrong with it in my opinion!

  20. I am really disappointed in Biggest Loser this season. It seems really boring and non of the contestants are holding my attention. I stopped watching Glee in the second season, when the plot line got ridiculous and it seemed like all of the kids were just trading sleeping buddies. I usually LOVE the music, so I will get it on itunes even if I haven’t seen an episode, but I wish they would do more songs that weren’t so already played out on the radio. Instead of watching tv I made invitations for my daughters birthday party.
Way to ace the practice test! You’re gonna do awesome!

  21. Jen says:

You are my hero for getting up so early to get in your workout! Early am workouts will be my only choice after baby arrives, and I just hope I have as much motivation as you 🙂

Great job on acing the quiz!

  22. Cynthia says:

I used to watch Biggest Loser religiously. But then it annoyed me because it became all about the game and not about losing weight. Plus there was so much drama with all the contestants. So I haven’t seen it in a couple of years. But I am a total Gleek! So I would definitely watch Glee any day of the week. 🙂

  23. Tina says:

Good for you for getting up early and getting the workout in! That sandwich sounds really good! How do you make your grilled cheese?

    • Tina says:

The old fashioned way but with hummus and tomato added in. I use a bit of smart balance spread on the bread slices, put a thick layer of hummus, two tomato slices, and a slice of pepperjack or sharp cheddar on the inside and cook on the stove. Yum! 🙂

  24. Rebecca says:

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAY for good scores!!

I’ve failed a couple of tests so far this semester. A few of them we’ve gotten to redo for more points, but I don’t think that’s going to continue. During the last failed test, I seriously started crying in class because I could not remember any of the information. I got like… not even 50%. I looked at the questions and just blanked and started crying. 🙁
I got worse than an “Asian F,” haha.

I watched Glee last night on a livestream that kept freezing. But it worked. And then my roommate watched the last little bit of BL before something else came on.

  25. Oh I’ll watch both! We record a lot of TV in our house. Hubby and I will watch BL when we do cardio. I’ll watch Glee myself sometime from the treadmill. I’m actually pretty behind and haven’t seen any of the new episodes this season of Glee yet.

  26. The Biggest Loser, though I only ended up watching about 20 minutes of it last night.

  27. jobo says:

Congrats on acing your test! Not that I am surprised in the least 😉 How is BL this season? I have DVRd it but yet to watch it. Sort of thinking I may skip it…really not loving the new judge switch!

    • Tina says:

I think its better than I expected. And I really like the 3rd new trainer – Dolvett. And I just aced the practice exam. Still felt pretty great!

  28. Hilary says:

ALL about the morning workouts…and I had an awesome spin class at 6:15 today, so sorry to hear about your less-than stellar one…I’m also trying to fit in as many workouts as possible this week, because this weekend is Canadian thanksgiving…so major eating ahead!!!! I’ve never watched Glee…and I DVR’ed Biggest Loser last night to save for later ’cause I was busy. And yes…OCD about grade…totally relate!

  29. glee, glee, GLEE! always! I’m obsessed.

and I’ve always been an overachiever, so I was most definitely OCD about my grades.

AND. hummus on grilled cheese. WHY have I never tried this?!

  30. 5am! That is so early! Good for you I don’t know how you did that! And Glee last night was AMAZING. Best episode in a long time in my opinion:)

  31. Yey! Congrats on acing it, Tina. I might just have to hire you to be my personal tutor when I start studying for the exam myself 😉

  32. Woo hoo – way to go!! I’m such a sucker for Glee!

  33. Great job on your ace! 🙂 Glee vs. Biggest Loser is a tough one for me, but I think I would go with Glee. I’m a big fan of flash cards, too! I just bought neon flash cards and they are making clinical nutrition a little more fun!

  34. You are an inspiration. I am going to lift my ace off of the sofa and get my tush to kickboxing class. I promise. Right after this coffee.

  35. I did the sandwich and tomato soup thing last night too, it was yummy. I split Biggest loser into half last night and half this morning before heading to the dentist, I haven’t been into Glee yet this season, it is starting to bore me.

  36. YAY on your test! I always practice with onlince quizes before my tests and I feel like such a nerd when I ace them, but I love it! I’m a Biggest Loser girl. I always feel so motivated by their stories!

  37. Wooohoo girl! You will OWN that test!

I was beyond OCD about grades. I didn’t get anything less than an ‘A’ all through highschool and college. It wasn’t until my 2nd year in Grad school that I got my first B+ and oddly enough, the world didn’t end. Go figure!

  38. I’m SO impressed that you were able to drag yourself out of bed that early. I sooooooo want to be that girl that gets up early to workout, but I just can’t do it. I have to squeeze it in after work, which I hate…but not as much as I hate getting up early 🙂

  39. Nice! You’re going to be a kick butt trainer Tina!

  40. I always watch Biggest Loser and DVR Glee for later. I like to watch shows where someone is voted off as they air, so I don’t accidentally found out later if I haven’t watched.
I’m not feeling Glee as much this year- I think it started to decline last season. And I definitely miss Jillian on TBL.
I have way too many shows on my rotation and not enough time to watch – need to start breaking up with some of them!

Congrats on the 94%!!! When I did my practice exam for ACE I barely scored about a 60%. Time for a lot more studying!!

    • Tina says:

I have a lot of shows too that I think I need to start breaking up with. It’s just so hard because I still like them okay.

  41. Kara says:

Flashcards are the best! I still have stacks and stacks of flashcards for Arabic vocab…not sure why I’m saving them, lol.

    • Tina says:

Because you’re going to find a 50 miler through the Arabian Desert to make yourself even more kick ass and will need to communicate needs for water and bodyglide. 😉

  42. Great job! I’m a little OCD about my grades, but it’s gotten a lot better. I’d rather watch Biggest Loser. Glee kind of annoys me.

  43. Man grilled cheese and tomato soup is the BEST EVER! I’ll have to try it with hummus on it soon. Yum!

  44. Getting up early is hard, especially if you’re not used to it!

I was totally OCD about grades throughout school (K thru MBA). I hated anything less than perfect, although in college I started loosening up. It’s hard to work full time and go to school full time and be perfect at both.

I’m a huge BL, although I desperately miss Jillian!

  45. That dinner looks so good!!

I am more of BL fan than a Glee fan this season 🙂

I was SO OCD bout grades in college, not so much in High School, I was too busy dancing to care hahaha

  46. Congrats on acing the practice test!! I’m finally starting to feel more confident with my studying. I just finished chapters 7 and 8 and finally didn’t feel like an idiot while reading through them! It’s definitely a lot to learn, but I’m loving it. My mountain of index cards is piling up VERY quickly!! 🙂

    • Tina says:

It sort of suddenly all falls into place. I realized that I had to get through all the reading then go back and study deeper because things “clicked” so much better then.

  47. I tivo both shows, but honestly I hated last night’s Glee so much, I would have rather watched just about anything else! I will probably always watch Biggest Loser, but it just isn’t the same for me without Jillian!

  48. Amy Lauren says:

Congratulations on acing the practice- hopefully that means you will ace the actual test, too! I haven’t watched Glee OR Biggest Loser in forever. I’d actually rather watch House or some of the other shows on Fox.

  49. Ela says:

congrats on your ‘ace!’ Good preparation, sure you’ll do great.

    Hope M gets better soon!

  50. Kace says:

    1) LOVE grilled cheese and tomato soup – perfect fall food!

    2) GLEE

    3) OH I was soooo ocd about grades. I graduated with a 3.93 and I still think about that one damn b….
