Starts to the Morning

3 Poor Ways to Start the Morning

1) With another cold.

The whole lowered immune system during pregnancy thing has certainly taken its toll on me with the cold weather. I think this is my 3rd cold in the past 2 months?

2) With spam.

spam

Are there really this many people out there spamming blogs with their ridiculous comments? And that would be after clearing it out 2x yesterday.

3) Forgetting to say “Happy Birthday” to your husband right away because of your exhausted, stuffy-headed haze.

IMGP8130

I love you, Peter! Happy, happy, happy birthday!

3 Great Ways to Start the Morning

1) A green monster with breakfast to get in essential nutrients.

IMGP9059

We don’t have OJ. I can’t take a lot of other remedies. Greens it is!

2) Bible reading.

IMGP9061

I don’t think there’s a better book out there.

3) A hot shower in preparation of a hot lunch date with the birthday boy.

I like it scalding. Added bonus? It helps clear out the congestion.

How did your morning start today? What is the ideal way to start your day?

  1. oh no! girl i’m so sorry you’re sick 🙁 on the bright side you got in a ton of greens and goodness with your GM and Bible reading 🙂 my morning was a bit rushed since i overslept (OOPS) but ended up ok since i feel good and was on time 🙂

  2. Boo on not feeling well! Hope you get feeling better soon.

Have a great date with your Birthday Boy 🙂

  3. Sorry you are not feeling well! Happy Bday to your hubby!

My day started ok — the bed was sooooo warm though, so it was hard to get out, but then I thought of breakfast and then I got right up!

My “ideal” morning is getting up without an alarm clock and having no place to be for a few hours. Just to sit in bed, talk, read, eat breakfast, etc.

  4. Becca says:

Not feeling well is never fun! I think I’m starting to get a cold—been getting headaches/sinus pressure and feeling like I have to blow my nose a lot recently. Icky!

I got to sleep in yet again! My phone was on vibrate and I must’ve slept through the “announcement” that I had a text message—I woke up after 9:30 and the text was sent about 8!
Sleeping in is always nice. 🙂

I have to admit, my God-time hasn’t been very frequent lately (read: in the last year or two). I SHOULD be working on the stuff the JH kids are, because I told myself I would, but I fell out of that. I used to do it every day, or try to, and then… *poof* The discipline went away. 🙁 Same with all the devotional books I have—I do it for a week, and then put it off for a day, and a day become a week and… it’s hard to get back into it. Really sad. What happened to the determination I had two summers ago to go through my devo book every day?? =\ My dad told me last night that he’s been reading Genesis in the mornings. I think I’m jealous. I need to get back into a regular God-time!

    • Tina says:

I sometimes put it on my to-do list when I start slacking. It reminds me and then I like crossing it off my list. Feels doubly good. LOL

  5. I’m having the increased spam problem too. Gettting really tired of sorting through 50+ people telling me “In my opinion you are not right, PM me to discuss!” I know it’s not real, but it’s not fun reading so many negative things first thing in the morning.

Hope you’ve just got a bug and will be back to better soon. That green monster will certainly help!

  6. Happy birthday to Peter:)
I like to start my morning with blogs and breakfast, or a great workout!

  7. Happy Birthday to Peter! Sorry you aren’t feeling so great. I am having throat problems, but I think it is from the dry air and the fire place! I hope you have a great lunch date with your man!

  8. Lisa says:

Happy Birthday To Peter! =) Hope you feel better!

  9. Happy birthday to your hub!!! I hope you feel better soon, Tina!

  10. lindsay says:

oh yes, enjoy that hot lunch date and happy bday to peter!
    LC

  11. Astrid says:

My morning started with the cat yelling at me to give her treats. But then I did some yoga while watching Bones. Then I made myself a breakfast that wasn’t my ordinary breakfast. And I think that did the trick to put me in a good mood. Plus lots of morning organizing and cleaning. Parts of the apartment now look unrecognizable!
    Happy birthday Peter!

  12. Anna says:

Sorry to hear that you are sick again 🙁

My morning started out with two finals but the good news is that they were my only two finals of the semester and I am done with undergraduate finals forever ^_^

  13. Sorry to hear you are sick! Steaming hot showers are the best for clearing up a cold. I’ve also heard good things about the Neti Pot, though I haven’t tried it yet!

  14. Oh a hot shower is the BEST way to start your day!! I haven’t taken one yet today because I knew I’d get cold and want to warm up 🙂 Such a nice treat on a cold day!

  15. Ugh, sorry you’ve got another cold. Hot showers are always the best aren’t they!

  16. Dorry says:

Happy Birthday to Peter! I hope y’all have a great celebratory lunch!

I love scalding hot showers, too. My morning started off with a troubled laptop (maybe it has your cold?) but it seems to be feeling better now. I hope you are feeling better, too! It sounds like you did all the perfect things to get there.

  17. Julia says:

Have a great lunch date! And I hope your cold goes away quickly!

  18. Heather says:

Hope you feel better soon – I bet your lunch date will help! 🙂
I love waking up and spending time in bed before I have to get up and start my day. It doesn’t happen very often but when it does I treasure every second!

  19. Another cold? This winter definitely has not been nice to you!

I hope you feel better quickly!

I started this morning with my resistance bands. Found out they don’t wake me up nearly as much as The Shred does… Guess we all know what I’ll be doing tomorrow. 🙂

  20. Hope your cold goes away soon. My day was off to a great start too because I was able to workout for an hour at the gym! That always put me in a good mood.

  21. Emily says:

I also started this morning out with a cold 🙁 So I improved my day by a trip to Trader Joes, dusting my room (so gross but so necessary) and now a warm mug of tea and a multivitamin 🙂

  22. Hope you feel better!!

I get a crazy amount of spam too – its very, very irritating. I cleared mine out 3 times yesterday.

  23. I started this morning with a kiss under the mistletoe in our house 🙂 And a good workout that actually incorporated lifting and I liked it.

  24. Becca says:

Feel better soon Tina! and enjoy your lunch date!

… my morning started with a sink full of dishes. Yuck! lol

  25. Best way to start the day? Knowing it’s the weekend and then making a big delicious breakfast!

  26. Leashieloo says:

I also like scalding showers 🙂 That stinks about the cold, I hope you feel better! A good morning for me is when I’m not rushed and have time to get my coffee and feel calm.

  27. Angela says:

I love hot showers in the morning too! My morning started with teaching my spin class. I love starting the day with so many like-minded individuals who all like to have fun and work hard. They give me energy for sure!

  28. Tatianna says:

My ideal morning starts with a big mug of coffee 🙂 I don’t function too well if I don’t have at least 15 minutes of quiet with a hot cup just to get going.

Sorry about the sniffles! Perhaps you should go the chicken noodle soup route?

  29. My morning started with a great workout at the gym which I literally bounded out of bed to go to! 🙂

  30. Shannon says:

I hope you feel better and can enjoy celebrating with you hubby 🙂

Today was a good morning here…Noah slept long and hard, and let mommy get in 8 miles on the treadmill before knocking off a chunk of the housecleaning.

  31. Have you ever tried one of those “Shower Soothers” to go with your scalding hot shower? They work WONDERS and really make you feel better when you’re all stuffy.

  32. I love scalding hot showers, too! My family always gets made because I take all the hot water!!

  33. Lauren says:

Hope you feel better! I’m getting over a cold and all my coworkers are getting sick, too, so I feel ya. I too am a fan of super hot showers 🙂

  34. Sarah says:

My ideal morning starts without an alarm clock, at a relaxed pace. I have plenty of time to cook, eat, drink coffee, and read…and if we’re talking about “ideal,” go for a run or take a yoga class!

  35. Cynthia says:

My morning started with a migraine. 🙁 Luckily, I am feeling a lot better now. Hope your cold gets better!

  36. My morning started out with me running late, a rushed breakfast, and a forgotten wallet, YIKES! It turned around due to a great lunch date with the boyfriend, and some quality time finding new blogs (and twitter’s) like yourself! I’m your newest follower! 🙂

    xo- @heyyyyitsSARA

  37. Boo 🙁 I hope you feel better soon.

Happy Bday to the hubby 😀

  38. Happy Birthday, Peter. Feel better, Tina! I started my day obsessing over my Toastmasters speech, the impending winter weather that may impact my weekend trip to see my family! But all is well now, hope the same is for you! (Plus I’m super excited about your soup recipe!) I think I could eat soup all the time.

  39. I started my morning with a 5 mile run in 5 degree weather! Quite a cold one but man did I feel good after! 🙂

  40. My day started about an hour earlier than usual with a trip to the base hospital for blood work 😛 boo! But I think it’ll end good because we have vegetable chilli in the crock pot 🙂

  41. Allie says:

The Bible IS the best book out there 🙂 Happy Bday to your husband! I hope you feel better!!!!

  42. Nichole says:

Ah, I think we are all getting sick. The hubs is sick too, and he is never sick. Congestion, bllleeeerg. Glad you took a relaxing shower.

Hope the birthday is fun:) Happy birthday Peter!

I got my buns on the spin bike early, although the only buns I was thinking about were cinnabons. haa

  43. my morning started with a long & much needed spin on the bike, steel cut oats, and organizing my christmas list! happy birthday to your mannn!

  44. Lindsey says:

I’m sorry you are sick. Your green smoothie looks so good! What do you put in your smoothies? I just started making green smoothies recently.

  45. I hope you feel better soon!!!

My perfect morning would be waking up without an alarm clock (at a decent hour), sitting down to breakfast, spending time with God, working out, then showering (I prefer mine super hot too, hubby thinks I’m crazy) and then off to my day.

  46. Ugh I’m so sorry you are sick again! Good news is your little angel is almost here!!

My perfect morning would be waking up around 8:00am going for a run and then to a hot yoga class and then making it home before the hubby wakes up (luckily he would sleep till noon every day if he could) and make a huge batch of whole wheat pancakes!!

P.S. I LOVE the water scolding as well. I want my skin to be red when I get out of the shower! 🙂

  47. Aww happy birthday to your beautiful husband!!

I love starting my morning with a tall glass of water and some self growth reading and positive self talk!

I hope you feel better soon doll and get all rested for christmas!

    xxoo

  48. Summer says:

My morning started with freezing rain slush on my car 🙁 Fun, fun!

I always feel better in the morning after a hot shower, too. Feel better soon!

  49. I am always amazed at how much spam my blog gets. I hate when I forget to empty it for a day or two and get slammed with hundreds of messages.

  50. Bonnie says:

Great post! Doesn’t it make a big difference how your day begins? Today mine started with a great sunrise and some early morning clients -the sunrise is such an incredible reminder of God’s faithfulness to cause the sun to rise and set each day. I really appreciate when I’m able to sleep in next to my husband, get up before him (he’s a slow-to-rise kind of guy) and make him a healthy, tasty breakfast with some good coffee. This is my favorite way to start my day! Thanks for the reminder to think of that…
