Yummies

Thanks to Gabriela and Allie, I started my day with some delicious food – oats topped with pumpkin granola and TJs Cranberry Apple Butter.

IMGP9385

Followed by my 36 weeks appointment. I have officially reached the 9 months pregnant mark. Insane!

IMGP9428

As for the appointment - nothing too exciting to say about that. Things all look healthy. I got a Q-Tip swabbed up in me. He’s still in there, sitting pretty. And refusing to cooperate any time I try to get a quick video of him dancing around in my belly. Stubborn kid. It looks so cool & I want to share! .

After the appointment we did something a little crazy. See Peter acting crazy?

IMGP9389

We headed out to the mall area to run a few errands, like Trader Joes. It’s been a long while since I have hit up TJs and I wanted to take advantage. I used to shop here once a week. After having a kid,  the 30 minute trek became too much and I decided I could get by fine at my local Kroger, Publix, Walmart, etc. There’s just something special about Joes.

Plus, you can’t find their fabulous sauces/salsas/etc, treats, and convenience type items at the regular grocer. I miss those items the most. Picking up items to freeze for easy meals after baby B’s arrival was the focus of our shopping excursion.

IMGP9405 IMGP9407

Some other things inevitably snuck in – like cinnamon almonds, honeycrisp apples, and a spicy peanut sauce.

IMGP9409IMGP9427

And wine!!!!!!! This TJs Cabernet will be consumed with family the night I get home from the hospital. Oh! And I do like my hair when I style it myself. Thank goodness!

Where was I? The wine got me all excited. Oh yea. We also took a pit stop to Babies R Us while out. Would you believe that $80 can buy you this much little stuff?

IMGP9418

2 swaddle blankets, 2 packs of baby socks, some nipple cream, wipes, and pacifiers. I think the nipple cream was the most expensive, yet worth every penny for a mom planning to breastfeed.

As exciting as I know you find the talk of nipple cream, I do have to say something even more exciting made its way into my day. Behold the yummy of all yummies!

IMGP9413

I have been dying to try a gourmet cupcake – more specifically a lemon one. As luck would have it, a gourmet bakery shop opened up right by the TJs. I showed my puppy dog eyes to Peter and lured him into the shop.

IMGP9395IMGP9393 IMGP9394

I didn’t have to do too much luring though. He saw the caramel toffee cupcake and became weak in the knees. We quickly boxed up the his & hers cupcakes to have for a special dessert tonight. Who cares if I’m making more of my fudge tomorrow and Christmas is two days away? I wanted my cupcake!

And I got it. And I loved it. I will now fall into bed in a sugar coma that will likely continue another few days. And don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about.

Question of the night – What yummies have you been enjoying lately?

Mama pea’s dough balls! I made them for my family, and we all collapsed into sugar coma naps.

  2. Cynthia says:

I bought a couple Pecan Pie cookies from Whole Foods today. They were so unbelievable. I didn’t even care that I would be eating my weight in cookies tomorrow and this weekend. Those cookies were the best thing I have eaten in a long time!

  3. laura says:

I want to live near a TJ’s or even whole foods!
    Love the christmasy cakes.

  4. I had cupcakes yesterday!!! The one you had look great!

I’ve had a lot of chocolate lately…. my body was doing a natural detox today. I was craving fruits and veggies!

  5. Angela says:

oh my goodness.. those cakes look ahhhaammazing!

  6. Oh my goodness–your blog is teaching me SO much about pregnancy and labor. It simultaneously makes me want a baby now and never.

A Caramel Toffee Cupcake sounds incredible! I once had a coffee-toffee-caramel cupcake and it was really yummy. No treats that I am currently eating can compete.

  7. Oh TJ’s…and cupcakes… and wine..where do I start?
I made fudge and cookies today and let’s just say, I’ve had my fair share
    !

  8. Jenn says:

haha i’m right there with ya! boooo UF!

and I am SUPER jealous you have a trader joes! I’m two hours south of one… maybe it’s worth a few road trips =) I’m thinking so!

you picked up sooo many goodies! congrats on the pregnancy! <3 happy holidays!

  9. So glad to hear baby B is healthy 🙂

As soon as I kick this bug I got, I’ll be enjoying all the goodies 🙂

    Merry Christmas!

  10. You look gorgeous in your 9th month! Good luck with everything once the little guy comes.

I agree with you about Trader Joe’s. It’s such a treat to go grocery shopping there.

As evidenced on my blog, I have been eating way too many German chocolates lately.

    Have a wonderful holiday Tina!

  11. chelsey says:

What a great day! I’m so glad you got to go to TJ’s – it’s my favorite place!

  12. if u want a lemon cupcake, glad u found one! not exactly the most common thing, honestly, ive never even seen one for sale…so glad u found it!

that, and the lansinoh. Btw the Motherlove brand of nip cream is excellent. It also doubles as diaper salve and umm, ‘roid balm if that happens after delivery. God sorry bout the TMI in this comment. I am a mom and so are you…we KNOW what life is like after a birth 🙂

    • Tina says:

You know I don’t believe in TMI. Give me anything you got to share. 😉

I’ve never seen the Motherlove brand. I used lansinoh after M and loved it, but it was between that, Playtex, and Medela and I hated the other 2.

Anyways, have a great holiday with the family and a wonderful rst of the time in Aruba!

  13. Anna says:

I came home to stay with my parents for a few days and they have an assorted box of chocolate that I am finding hard to refuse.

  14. Stefanie says:

I have been enjoying way too many yummies lately! But it’s all been delicious, I can tell you that much! Mama Peas dough balls, sugar cookies, marshmallow butterscotch bars…the list goes on.

You look so amazing [and full of energy] at 9 months! But I’m certain that first glass of wine will taste great! 🙂

  15. lindsay says:

oh yes, wine is must post baby! I will have a glass for you tonight just to warm it up! hehe!
Trader joes is magical, wish we had one here!

  16. Shannon says:

You make 36 weeks look really good!

I got to preview some of my mom’s Christmas candy this week….definitely yummy!

  17. Katie says:

I like your hair in those pictures 🙂

  18. Natalie says:

Cranberry apple butter sounds delicious. I love TJ’s but there isn’t one near me…usually my mom or sister will send me a package of goodies from California!

Yay for month 9, you’re almost there!!!

  19. “I got a Q-Tip swabbed up in me.”

May I just say that your frankness about such matters both slays me and is simultaneously refreshing! 🙂

  20. Ela says:

Love to hear you sounding so upbeat and happy. I think that sometimes getting what you fancy is the healthiest choice, sugar or not!

I am in a sea of yummies – have been making chocolate after fudge after everything, and I have no appetite at all. A bit of a downer, really, but at least I’m not worrying about any jonesing.

Good luck with these exciting days!
    love
    Ela

  21. I got given a vegan cupcakes book as an early Christmas present, and have been enjoying making (and eating!) those! 🙂
I’m so excited for you! 9 months!!! 😀

  22. Jen says:

The closest Trader Joe’s is also a 1/2 hour drive and doing that with a 2.5 year old who hates riding in the car and then makes wherever we are going miserable….we don’t go to TJ’s often 🙁

Oh man that nipple cream worked wonders!!!! Totally worth every single penny. It’s magical 🙂

    Merry Christmas!

    Jen

  23. That lemon cupcake looks so fresh and light… yet sweet, creamy, and wonderful at the same time.

I’ve been enjoying cake balls, peanut butter fudge, various cookies, and more. It’s getting to be too much. After the pumpkin pie tomorrow, I think I’m done with sugar for a while.

  24. Kelly says:

A lemon cupcake sounds amazing!!! YUM!!! The best treat I have ever had was 5 years ago. It was from the bakery that we ordered our wedding cake from. I went in there to pay for our cake and she gave me a snickerdoodle on the house. I dream about that cookie on a regular basis. Unforunately we didn’t get married in Austin (we we now live) so I don’t have the opportunity to go back and get one again!

    • Tina says:

Don’t you hate that? When you find something so incredibly delicious and its something you will likely never have again?

  25. Tatianna says:

I’m so glad to hear that the appointment went well! You must be getting anxious in anticipation of the little guy!

  26. Camille says:

Do you think B will be a Christmas or New Year’s baby?! That would be so cool!

    • Tina says:

After tomorrow night I will be ready for him to come any time! Sadly, I think it will be closer to sometime the first 2 weeks of Jan though. Boo. I’m ready!

  27. Jess says:

Tina, your 9-month pregnant pic is awesome! you look so healthy and are glowing, I love it!! It’s too bad Baby B isn’t ready to come out, I’m sure now that you’ve got wine in the house, you’re looking forward to a sip or two with the little one under the same roof as you, M and Peter! Almost there! Yay! Merry Christmas, friend!

  28. I love TJ’s! Great choices! And girl – 9 months looks good on you! You really look fabulous lady!

  29. Mellissa says:

Just wanted to say you look really good!

  30. Congrats on reaching the 9 month mark! This could be the best Christmas present ever. 🙂

Oh! I gave my BFF her Boppy yesterday and she LOVED it. Thank you sooo much!

I’m the same way with my hair – they never do it like you can. (Not that I blame them – I’m tragic with hair!)

Is that a Gigi’s cupcake store???

  31. I’ve been in Saigon and they have some AMAZING bakeries there, and a lot of weird savory stuff like “pork floss” and sausage buns and some other ridiculousness… but I’ve just been eating my way through the Asias Bakery and Confectionery in an attempt to try everything. I failed, though.

  32. Wow, you look great Tina! Congratulations 🙂 Wishing you and your family a Blessed and Merry Christmas!

  33. Laura says:

How did manage to ONLY eat a cupcake with the tree standing in front of you?!

  34. Susan says:

You and your fair look fabulous! As for yummies – I have been abstaining. Except when I bake. I will allow myself one of the cookies I bake. That’s it. No more. I guess when I make it myself, I don’t care for it as much.

  35. You’re looking so great! Trader joes should definitely be included in a “yummies”-titled post. I love them!

  36. Kristina says:

Just stumbled across your blog-so congrats a little late! Hope you have a Merry Christmas (I have no idea what is being served as far as yummies go so I will say i’ll be stocking up A LOT!)

  37. Allie says:

I’m so happy you enjoyed the granola! It’s awesome of your husband to take you to TJ’s and the cupcake shop, what a sweetie!! You look awesome and so healthy! (I have the same shirt-from target I think?) Also, your hair looks great. I bet you can’t wait to pop open that wine!

  38. Merry Christmas Tina!!! Soooo happy to have stumbled across your blog I love it!!

  39. Sounds like a great day! I love days like that, only I don’t need nipple cream or baby things, but awesome! So happy. I’m going to TJ’s today 🙂
