Blog Changes

Posted: January 3, 2011 at 12:11 pm

Good morning! How’s it going? Are you catching up from the weekend? Check it out:

The Attitude to Achieve 2011 Goals  /  How I Spent NYE  /  Gift Exchange Round-Up

Although I know I have seen a few of these posts around blogs recently, I still wanted to address it here as well. Blog changes. What to expect from FFF in 2011. What you would like to see here in the upcoming year.

I think we can all safely say that this year will bring some changes for me. As I classify this blog as a “healthy living blog” (because its the broader category), those changes will obviously express themselves here. Anyone who has read Faith Fitness Fun recently knows the excitement I share on getting back in shape post-pregnancy …and feeling more like me again in that area.

tina

For that reason, I will certainly talk more about food and fitness. I find the blog a great way to hold myself accountable to achieving my dreams. I also find it a great resource to learn more, while at the same time also providing an example to others that the journey is tough, but possible in a healthy way. I want to more regularly share what I eat and cook more recipes. I plan to post most of my workouts – strength training plans I use, fun cardio ideas, ventures into running, etc. Finally, as I work to achieve my “happy place”, I will also discuss my progress and post pictures displaying said “progress” every 2-4 weeks. Even with all those changes, I must express one thing…

Faith Fitness Fun will NEVER be a weight loss blog where I talk about my weight. I refuse to use a scale, remember? It will NEVER be a food blog where I focus on what I ate each day. My food would bore you if I did that. It will NEVER be a training blog with a focus solely on fitness goals and accomplishments. Been there and done that with my fitness competition. Faith Fitness Fun will continue to live by the tagline “because life is more than diet and workouts”.

 life

Yes, I will write a good deal more about my “diet and workouts”. In fact, I have my next “Body After Baby” post in the works, where I will detail my food and fitness plans for post-baby. However, I will still focus on the overall picture. Adjusting to becoming a mother of two and life’s normal stressors. Taking each day one at a time to see where life leads me. Having fun with new adventures, like blog conferences. Working towards new places with the blog itself and hopefully watching it develop. And most importantly, putting myself out there in every way possible to continue the personal growth this blog has brought to me already.

I’m ready to embrace the changes 2011 has in store for me. I’m ready to let Faith Fitness Fun fully reflect those changes. I’m ready to share it ALL with you, my amazing/fantastic/stupendous/couldn’t-live-without-you readers. Now, let’s get this party started!

Question of the Day – While I will always do things in a way I feel comfortable, please share any ideas you have for things you would (or wouldn’t) like to see here at FFF. This blog wouldn’t be what it is without you. YOU are important to me, so give me what you would like to see in the comments. I will do my best to make it happen.

  1. I can’t wait to follow your progress! 🙂 You are going to rock it and I can’t wait to read all about it. 🙂

  2. what you’re doing and your future plans sound great to me, and it is what keeps me coming back every day. i love your approach, especially since you have been down the road with restriction and the scale that revolves around a fitness competition, and have learned that this is the best approach to health and happiness!

    • Tina says:

I refuse to go back to a place like that! I’m so excited to start things the healthy way. Just like I did after M, but not working towards a comp in a year either.

  3. Kacy says:

I just can’t wait to meet the new little one 🙂 I know you will do great at getting back in shape because, well, you rock!

  4. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for you!

  5. Ya know I am just excited to watch and learn about how you find your happy/healthy/balanced place with your body after having your little guy. This year might be the time for us to consider having a baby and I have learned so much from you about being healthy and vibrant, especially since I (and so many other readers) have also come from a place of restriction, heavy dieting, bingeing, etc…

    I can’t wait for FFF in 2011!

  6. I am a fairly new reader, and I love your style, so I’m excited for any new content that you offer! 🙂

  7. I love your attitude and approach – I am VERY excited for you, and looking forward to following along with the progress.

  8. Karen says:

One of the very first bloggers I started following is hoping to start a family soon and wondering about how pregnancy will impact her amazing weight loss. I am going to share your blog URL with her for inspiration:)

  9. Mellissa says:

You should add in sections about balancing it all, you do such a great job as a wife, mom, friend and it is inspiring for others to see how to balance it all.

  10. Juliene says:

Hi Tina, I have been following your blog for a bit now and have to say in recent weeks you have made a lot of impact on me. I recently lost a good amount of weight(over 100 lbs) and now even more recently found out I am pregnant. I had been struggling with the thought of gaining weight back and reading your blogs has definitely helped me keep things in perspective. I wanted to thank you because there aren’t many pregnant bloggers out there who can share the same thoughts as me and I really need it sometimes! Thanks!!

    • Tina says:

      Congrats on the pregnancy!!!!

Most importantly trust your body. If you eat as well as you can and stay somewhat active (as your body allows), I fully believe the body gains just what it needs and then it comes off fine as well. Remember, you were successful once before and found a healthy place…you will certainly keep that health and be successful getting back to a feel great weight again. I’m always here if you have any questions or just need a pregnancy vent. 😉

  11. Excited to follow you in 2011! Happy New Year!

  12. Sarah says:

I really appreciate your attitude about healthy living, and I like your plans. I don’t have any new ideas for you, but I am looking forward to reading about how you implement your healthy life ideas.

  13. I think it’s always good to take a step back every now and then an “reassess” what you want your blog to be– I know I do that every once in a while!

Can’t wait to see what 2011 brings to FFF!

  14. What an exciting year you have ahead!! Looking forward to reading all about it 🙂

  15. I think these changes sound great! I am confident that while you focus more on food and exercise, you will still maintain balance, both in your life and on your blog. Looking forward to 2011!

  16. So looking forward to continuing to read your blog throughout 2011. 🙂

  17. I love your blog the way it is – I’m excited to see the changes!

  18. I can’t wait for more of your wonderful blog in 2011!

  19. I’m so glad you’re sticking to your principles! I love your blog as it is 🙂 I used to read a healthy living blog, but post-pregnancy it became ALL about weight loss and the scale! You have such a brilliant outlook though- I love it!
Can’t wait to read more throughout this year! 😀

  20. Dorry says:

I’m with everyone else – I love you approach and your honesty and can’t wait to see your progress and the transition into being a mother of 2! I know I’m looking forward to hearing about the realities – good and bad – to the next steps in your life. And I’ll be here to comment and support you!

  21. Angela says:

I love how the new year makes us so motivated to make positive changes. The one’s I’ll be making this year (http://wp.me/pSUCS-1rq ) are already underway and I’m so excited about them. What I’d love to keep seeing on FFF is how you balance your healthy lifestyle while having a family. Although I’m nowhere near ready to have children right now, I’d love to learn from a pro (ie YOU!) so that the thought of having kids someday doesn’t seem so scary. Happy New Year Tina, and thank you for your continued inspiration! 🙂

    • Tina says:

Many days I feel like I’m stumbling through life, just doing my best…but that’s all we can do, right? Thanks for calling me a “pro” though!

  22. Heather says:

I think it will be great and inspiring to see your progress! Can’t wait to read and hear all about it. 🙂

  23. I can’t wait to read what’s to come in 2011!

  24. Stefanie says:

It sounds like you have great blog plans for 2011. Can’t wait to meet your little bundle of joy! And I’m excited to follow along. 🙂

  25. Katie says:

Have to say I am glad you aren’t changing to posting only daily eats/food and workouts. I like how you mix so many things up and encompass everything!

    • Tina says:

I would go stir crazy only writing that stuff! You can rest assured the blog will not go that route. I have too much going on in this rambling mind of mine anyways. 😉

  26. Shayla says:

I’m a fairly new reader and I absolutely love your blog. I love the approach you’re taking and I’m excited that you’re taking us readers on this journey with you. I too came from a place of heavy dieting, overexercising, bingeing, etc. and I’m now finally in a happy place. Though I still have my good and bad days, it’s so nice to hear your reflections on it and to know I’m not alone. This also may be the year that hubby and I will start trying for our first baby and I know I’ll feel lost on what to do after having the baby, so you sharing this experience with us all is so helpful and inspiring and will help me along the way when that time comes. Thanks Tina, you’re awesome 🙂

  27. As long as you just keep being you – no changes!!! 😉

  28. I’m excited for FFF in 2011! And really really excited to hear all about you and the growing fam! 🙂

  29. I love your approach for after the baby! I think that it is YOUR blog so you should be able to do what YOU want!

  30. lindsay says:

your blog is so well balanced, please keep that like you said. Its great to have that positie attitude while still keeping in check wth reality. CHeers Tina!

  31. Melie says:

I am very excited to see the post-baby FFF! I bet it will be awesome! But first the baby please! I can’t wait to meet baby B 🙂

  32. Looking forward to reading as you re-engage post-baby. I’m all giving your URL to my prego BFF. 🙂

I’m always looking for new/creative ways to get a good workout – would love to read about how you do it!

  33. changes changes changes! I had no idea that was you in the magazine article, by the way! I just saw someone else blog about it (ironic after I was blogging about magazines) and was like “no way!” when I originally saw that, I thought the picture was so cute! now I know it was you 🙂

  34. Nichole says:

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  35. Love your blog! Best of luck with Baby #2 and beyond!

  36. I love the variety of things you write about- I really am looking forward to seeing your post baby progress because I have a lot of friends going through the same thing and would love to know some tips 🙂

  37. Jen says:

I think all blogs should be a mixture of what makes the writer who they are 🙂 I don’t think it has to fit into a certain category. I love your blog and I’m so excited to see what 2011 shapes up to be 🙂

    Jen

  38. Happy New Year! I’m so excited to read about getting back into things after the baby – it’s exactly what I’m going through!

  39. I can’t wait to hear about your post baby journey because I’m on mine right now and definitely can’t wait to have someone there with me!

  40. I love how FFF blends nutrition, fitness and life lessons! I can’t wait to read all about your progress, and everything 2011 has in store for your family! 🙂

  41. I love your outlook!!! And so excited when baby comes!!

  42. I’m excited to see you tackle the new year as a mom of two! I think your plans for the blog sound perfect:)

  43. I really look forward to reading all of your body after baby posts! I hope baby B comes sooner than later!

  44. Great post! I’m just looking forward to following your progress and to seeing your workouts and recipes – FUN! I love to get ideas in these two areas so yay!

    • Tina says:

There will certainly be more of those. I haven’t been much into trying new things since my tastes are so off during pregnancy. And of course workouts aren’t the most exciting right now. LOL

  45. emily says:

I love reading your blog! You motivate and inspire me! I love the way you are so honest with us about ur everyday living and feelings! Keep up the great work!
    Much love and hugs

  46. Lee says:

Personally, I’m very interested in reading about how your get back to your pre-baby body. Jason and I talk about having kids in the next couple years, so it’ll be useful info for me, should that happen.

    • Tina says:

And I’m ready to share! I think too often its one or the other extreme – the media showing women who do it in a month (HA!!!) or people saying its impossible and things will never be the same. While, yes, changes do happen…you can still reach a great place and fitness level with time. I really hope to do that over the year after baby B comes and show its possible. I’m hoping doing it once means it can happen again. I know I’ll do what it takes (within healthy reason) to make it though.

And can’t wait for part of that journey to include blog meetups with pals like you too. 😀

  47. i love you blog and i’m excited to see what 2011 brings for you! as for blog content, i really like how you keep your topics fairly balanced and don’t only focus on workouts or food – i’m glad you’re planning to continue doing that.

i would like to see specific strength training plans that you do – i’m always looking to mix it up with strength training because that’s where i get bored the quickest! also, i noticed in a past post that you want to try out insanity and i’d love to hear what you think! i have it, but haven’t quite committed to doing the whole program – i just use it as a good at-home workout when getting to the gym isn’t going to happen.

  48. instant blog crush. Instant:)

  49. Melissa says:

Your appoach is so awesome:) Can’t wait to read about your adventures this year!

  50. amy says:

I’m looking fwd to seeing ur training and progress. as someone who is having a hard time myself reaching my fitness goals I’m looking fwd to see how u keep balance and do it. I’m 5″4″ 106 and i weight train 4 days a week and cardio 2 and i’m having a hard time showing definition in my lower body and I’ve been told by personal trainers to quit cardio that its making me burn off the muscle I’m trying to build since I’m so small. I’m confused. Any advice???

    • Tina says:

If you are focusing on building up lean mass, then from my experience you don’t need the cardio. What you’re eating plays a big role too though. You have to eat enough to gain muscle. Have you considered changing your cardio to be more explosive training (like plyometric drills). Those always helped me with definition, but that’s also just based on my personal experience.

No matter what, I’m sure you already look GREAT!

It’s kind of funny. I become a certified personal trainer and the first workouts I turn to this week come from someone else. The book came in for me at the library last week and, after flipping through it, I couldn’t wait to give the circuits a go. Making The Cut includes a lot of […]
