There’s No Place Like Home
Posted: January 12, 2011 at 8:31 pmWe got to come home today! Technically, our discharge should have been tomorrow but they allowed us to leave earlier since the roads may worsen for Thursday. We took advantage of that offer. Although going home did present a few problems.
First off, we had no car. We headed to the hospital via ambulance, remember? Peter’s dad helped us out. He drove up and then picked up Peter to take some of our stuff home and pick up the car seat. When they made the original pit-stop to our house, they quickly discovered that our neighborhood’s roads are still not driveable.
What did that mean for us? We still went home. We had to park the car at the front of the neighborhood and walk up to our house.
The fun just never stops, huh? Luckily its a short walk and we made it safely. We also managed to get Makenzie home. I wish you could have seen the excited look on her face when she first saw him!
It feels so incredible to be home with my family!
Question of the night – What makes your home feel like home to you?

ah… welcome home Beautiful Family!!
home for me is where Jason and Basil are… <3
Congrats again Tina! What a beautiful family you have!
Being around all my family members makes me feel like home no matter where I am 🙂
Awww! M looks so happy to see her new baby brother! Besides just being with my whole family, feeling like I’m home also includes my mother’s cooking. Without it it wouldn’t feel like home.
So glad you are home! What amazing memories to tell baby B one day about all the snowy adventures at the very beginning of his life. He has a great head of hair to keep him warm! 🙂
Home for me is taking off my shoes and putting on slippers, sipping tea or drinking water from my “D” water bottle and snuggling with Billy on the couch.
That sounds nice. A perfect way to spend the night in my book too.
honestly, the photos of your little family brought tears to my eyes! i’m so happy for you guys and i’m glad you’re all home together.
i really feel like home when i’m with my family and my fiance. i live alone right now and my apartment feels like MINE, but it doesn’t feel like HOME. sigh…soon that will change! 🙂
I just have to say, generally speaking, I am so far away from starting a family (ie, need to find husband first!), but reading your blog makes me so excited for when the time finally comes.
Back to you! I can’t believe you had to walk through your neighborhood! Glad you’re home, and M must be so excited to be a big sister.
Braedon is perfect. Just….perfect.
The gentle yet joyful expression that Makenzie is wearing in that first picture says it all to me: we’re going to be just fine. Thank you for showing me the love that a sibling can stir in his sister’s heart.
Hugs to you all.
Welcome home! I’m glad you guys made it safely. Home is wherever my husband is . . . and my dog, too of course. 🙂
So glad you guys made it home safely. There are so many things that make my home “home” that are hard to even describe. It’s my things, it’s family photos, even the smell is mine.
Aww, the “coming home in the carseat” moment is SO precious, snow or no snow!
Hope you’re doing well, mama x2!
oh tina, these pictures just warm my heart. your family is so precious. it makes me so happy for you!
Beautiful pictures! So glad you made it home safely – even with the neighborhood walk – BOO. it’s SO cold here!
I’m so glad Makenzie was excited to see him! Braedon looks adorable! Enzo and I can’t wait to see him!
oh em gee M’s face in that picture is PRICELESS! Welcome home, mama!! 😀
What a welcome to the world he has had! Congratulations on your sweet lil boy!
I feel so blessed. The love and support from friends, family, here on the blog, and just the intense love in my heart overwhelm me. Thanks!
Welcome home to you and B! Home is where all 3 of my boys are. Enjoy your family!
I bet M was so excited! And I bet you are ready for a real shower and your own bed. 🙂
such a cutie!
Awwwwwwww, welcome home Baby B!!! The picture of M meeting him is sooooooooooo sweet!! What a story you have to tell him when he’s older!! 🙂
I can hardly believe my sons were tiny like that once… but they were. Amazing 🙂 Enjoy that family of yours!
What make my home feel like home to me? My family does. And the pets.
Okay, sometimes I could do without some of the animals. Like right now, when the litter box is in need of maintenance. Speaking of which, I really need to drag myself away from the keyboard… gack!
Welcome Home !!!!! What a story to write down in the baby book !!!!! He has already had an adventure just to get home. Glad you all made it safe and sound !!! I always love seeing my friends pics of bringing their second babies home, and seeing the expression on the “older” childs face, its always so precious. I’m so happy for you and your little family!!
Home to me is wherever Dustin and Reagan are… I know it sounds cheesy — but it doesn’t matter where life may take us, as long as I have them I don’t care where we are!!!
Welcome home! M does look very happy to see the baby. How exciting for your entire family.
Jason finally got home from work (he was there for 48 hours) and that makes my house feel like home. It felt very odd to be trapped in the house without him.
Oh good! I’m so glad you aren’t stuck there by yourself anymore. I would go crazy.
There is no place like home….these moments are so precious and so perfect. You are a shining mom!!!!
OMG! I’ve been so out of touch! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! He is perfect Tina! 😀
Wow…I can not get over how much snow there is!! Goodness! I am glad you made it home safe and sound though! M’s face is priceless in the first picture. What a beautiful family you have!
I know it sounds cheesy but home to me is wherever Keith is.
Welcome home! What a precious picture of Peter, M and B!
I’m so glad that you made it home: such a nicer environment for a baby, let alone mom! So glad that M is excited about B and that you can all be together now.
I have the warm fuzzies!
love
Ela
Yes! I was able to sleep even more because we didn’t have nurses coming in every hour to check me, his vitals, give me my meds for my tear, and on and on and on.
all of these posts are making me smile and warming my heart 🙂 not even kidding, I love it, so glad you are home safe with your beautiful family!
Exciting for you to bring the baby home early. M looks like she is going to be a great big sister. She is so cute!
Home is where you feel at peace in your heart. My husband and dog make the best comfort company.
Man, momma, you’ve been roughing it, haven’t you? So glad you guys made it home safely.
The best thing in the work, I think, is seeing the excited, curious looks on the older siblings’ faces when the babies come home. I’ll never forget Hannah’s.
Home to me. Home to me is when I see Maddie come toddlin’ around the corner with purpose, saying in her squeaky voice, “Mum mum! Mommy!” Or when Herrick and I are watching a movie and Hannah comes smirking down the hallway trying to get out of going to bed. 🙂 Home to me are the people I love being in a place that we keep warm.
PS: How are YOU feeling?
I’m feeling GREAT! It’s been going so well. He is a fabulous little kiddo – eating well, sleeping well.
Tina, congratulations to you and your beautiful family!! You are such an inspiration and blessing to so many and it’s a joy to see God’s blessing on you. Congrats!
Oh my goodness Tina he is just perfect! You are seriously super women! You had a baby in the middle of a southern style blizzard and you still manage to smile, inspire everyone around you, go home from the hospital early, take wonderful pictures, and blog!! You are amazing! I wish you and your wonderful family all the blessings in the world! 🙂
Those last photos make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Your family is beautiful!
B will love the stories of his birth and homecoming someday – I like how you have a good attitude about all those obstacles you’ve had to face.
So happy that you all are home safe and sound, Tina!
Oh.my.Lord. I am so late to the game on this one! Baby Brandon is just beautiful (and perfect) – what a blessing! Congratulations to you and your family! Love and light, lady!
Congrats again Tina. Your family is beautiful! Glad y’all were able to make it home safely today.
I can’t believe your roads are still not drivable! That’s insane. I’ll bet it feels good to be home. I know some women say they want to take advantage of the time in the hospital and stay as long as they can, but I couldn’t wait to get home.
My home feels like home because my family is here. 🙂
Well the roads were manageable…we just have this one hill at the front of our neighborhood that traps everyone in. It is literally a sheet of ice that covers these 2 steep back to back hills. Everyone just slips and gets stuck at the bottom of them if they try to drive them.
That pictures of little M with B is just adorable. I am so happy for you!
B is going to be one tough little guy for all he’s endured in his first few days! Such a great story to share with him some day.
I’m so happy to hear everyone’s home, safe and healthy! Those first photos of Makenzie with B are so precious 🙂
AHH! Look at how sweet M is looking at him. Oh my goodness… I’m melting.
oh my gosh her face is PRICELESS!!! she just looks like she adores him already 🙂 our neighborhood is pretty crazy right now too with tons of snow and ice and stuff…but the good news is 4-wheel drive is standard here and we are able to get in and out reasonably well!
we both have 4 door basic compact/sedan cars…we were certainly stuck! LOL
Home to me is sitting with both of my daughters tucked on each side of me wile we read a book or watch a movie. I just love knowing they are near 🙂
Beautiful pictures!
omg you are just like me!
i gave birth, and BAILED on the hosp within like 6 hrs. I hate hospitals…woulda shoulda coulda had a homebirth, chickened out in 2nd trimester, had hosp birth, and RACED home 🙂
Nothing like schlepping your new bundle of joy up a snowbank with a 2 yr old and lactation and lochia. Girl. I feel your life right now. As only another mom could.
xoxo
Wow, you were just in and out, huh? Lucky girl! M looks adorable as she’s in awe of Braedon. So stinking cute! I told my mom all about your ambulance ride and delivery today – she couldn’t bleieve it!
your family is precious!!
Just have to tell you that picture of Makenzie looking at him is precious!!! So happy for you!
I CANNOT believe you had to walk home! What a story!
M and B look like a perfect sibling match! So happy you are home safe!
He’s beautiful! Congrats 🙂 I’m late coming to the news because my own niece and nephew have been in town all week and I’ve been soaking up every possible minute with them, but I couldn’t believe that I started to tear up a little while watching your vlog. You’ve become an important part of my day and I am happy for you and your family! All the best!
Aw, thank you so much! The love and support I’m getting from all of you brightens my world. Thank you!
Ack he is so gorgeous! I soooo want a newborn again. You’re making my uterus ache.
Home is kids running around, toys everywhere, hearing “Mommy” ever 2 seconds. Drives me crazy, but I love every minute of it 🙂
Enjoy your first night at home as a foursome!
What a tale your little boy will have to tell when he get’s older… man oh man! So glad that y’all are home safe and sound 🙂 I hope you are able to get some well-deserved rest!
