Snow Day!

Posted: January 13, 2011 at 12:39 pm

After a bit of a rough start to the night last night, we finally settled in and had a good evening. Braedon is a super-star nurser and slept relatively well too. You know…for a 2 day old. I figured I would sleep better without him inside me.

So far we have started the day out nicely. We all woke up around 7 am and then got everyone fed. After doing my share to fill the little man’s tummy, I made myself this glorious bowl.

Yes, glorious. I’ve been eating hospital food so glorious describes it perfectly. 😉 Some oats cooked with cinnamon, a container of peach chobani yogurt, a dollop of pb, and a handful of raspberries. I had to add that special touch to reflect my mood right now. If you didn’t already notice – I am extremely happy these days.

We will likely just chill here the rest of the day, unless we can get out to the pediatrician appointment they had us make. Otherwise, that will wait until tomorrow.

With that, I leave you some photos of Makenzie on her first big snow day. She is too adorable to not share this moment I had with her. We took her out on Monday morning to play and she loved it. Especially the snow angels. Although, it is hard to tell from that picture. LOL Hard to believe baby B was still in me in these photos…waiting to make his appearance about 12 hours later.

Question of the Day – Are there any ways you don’t like oats? I can eat them hot or as “yoatgurt” but hate hate hate them as overnight oats. GAG!

Congratulations on your baby boy! So glad to hear you all are home safe and warm on such a blustery day. Along with that nothing beats being at home and eating your own food.

  2. Looks like a great snow day!!!

Sounds like you’re already enjoying your new little guy 🙂

  3. man, did you see my snow day post in December? my snow angels aren’t near as cute as M’s! 😉

and agreed.. not a fan of the cold oats. I feel like I’m eating one of the three bear’s porridges.

  4. Wow, I can really tell how much better you feel now that baby B has arrived! I agree, overnight oats are not my thing, cold and gelatinous is not appealing to me. Hot with mashed banana is how I like em’.

  5. overnight oats are disgusting!!! amen sister!!

  6. aw M is so cute! how is she doing as a big sister?
I like oats anyway, anytime. I don’t really ever get sick of them!

  7. erica says:

i’m not a fan of overnight oats either…i prefer them hot! i have yet to try yoatgurt ;p

  8. Lori Lynn says:

I like oatmeal just about in anything, but I don’t like it with just raisins. I think it’s from my childhood that my mom used to make oatmeal with raisins and it was so unbelievably “gummy,” that I used to gag trying to eat it! Had I known to add yogurt to it, I think it would have helped.

  9. Kelly says:

    M is adorable!!! LOVE!

As for oats…I actually hate them when they are creamy! I can not stand creamy oats. They have to have some texture for me to like them…dare I say a crunch? I typically us less water than you are supposed to and cook them longer. Makes from some good textured oats. I know most people think that is crazy but I don’t like creamy foods.

  10. Love the smiley breakfast 🙂 You have so much to be happy about! You are truly blessed – enjoy every second!

  11. Monique says:

CONGRATS!!!! 🙂 I love the bowl, it’s so freaking cute haha

  12. Cute pictures of your family playing in the snow! 🙂 Even though snow is normal for us, my kids get excited with every new snowfall. It seems to be magical for kids.

I prefer cooked oats to the raw overnight oats, too. I only tried them once. They were okay, but I’d rather have my usual hot oatmeal.

  13. Anna says:

    Snow is so much fun!

I was leery of overnight oats (I have texture issues) but I love them! Whipped oats is my other favorite way to eat oats when I have a few extra minutes to cook them in the morning.

  14. Ela says:

Great pics– is that your doggie too? I love M as the snow angel especially: how cool that she’s old enough to appreciate those aspects of snow.

Glad you slept well and he’s nursing well.
    love
    Ela

  15. laura says:

Love oatmeal! I have it almost everyday — stovetop. Never had overnight oats, or yoatgurt.
    Adorable pictures. 🙂
i wish i was a mom, well not yet, but later in life.

  16. Love the snow photos with M! I took some of H today in the snow… it’s like a whole new world to them 🙂
I’ve never had yoatgurt, but may have to try. Since you and I recently shared our dislike for overnight oats, maybe we have similar taste buds!
Happy to hear B is nursing well. I’m sure it helps make the transition a little smoother!

  17. Lee says:

She looks like she’s having so much fun playing in the snow. How cute.

I am sort of meh on oats. I’ll eat them occasionally, but don’t ever really love them. I do like overnight oats better than hot oats though.

  18. Heather says:

Love the smiley face oats! Great snow pics! M looks so cute all bundled up!

I have yet to find a way to make oats that I haven’t liked. Overnight, raw, sweet, savory…doesn’t matter, I’ll take them all!
