Music Moves Me
Posted: May 11, 2011 at 6:07 pmThanks everyone for the encouragement on my recent Body After Baby progress post! It really was a challenging month that still turned out successful and informative. π
There is something about music that inspires me. Something about the lyrics to particular songs that touches me deep to the core. I can hear a song and almost instantaneously feel uplifted. Understood. Capable. Worthy.
On a tough day recently, I heard all three of the below songs on the radio while driving. I think God wanted to tell me something. I think He wanted me to pass it along to you too.
You are MORE.
There's a girl in the corner
With tear stains on her eyes
From the places she's wandered
And the shame she can't hide
She says, "How did I get here?
I'm not who I once was.
And I'm crippled by the fear
That I've fallen too far to love"
But don't you know who you are,
What's been done for you?
Yeah don't you know who you are?
You are more than the choices that you've made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You've been remade.
You are BEAUTIFUL.
The days will come when you don't have the strength
When all you hear is you're not worth anything
Wondering if you ever could be loved
And if they truly saw your heart they'd see too much
You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are treasured, You are sacred, You are His
You're beautiful
You are WORTHY.
You might be the wife, waiting up at night
You might be the man, struggling to provide
Feeling like it's hopeless
Maybe you're the son who chose a broken road
Maybe you're the girl thinking you'll end up alone
Praying God can you hear me?
Oh God are you listening?
Am I more than flesh and bone? Am I really something beautiful?
Yeah I wanna believe, I wanna believe that
I'm not just some wandering soul
That you don't see and you don't know
And I wanna believe, Jesus help me believe that I
Am someone worth dying for
Yep. Music moves me. Does it move you?

YES it totally does. Thank you for sharing. π
I am such a music-oriented person, and have always loved music. I heard the song “Me and Jesus” by Stellar-Kart the other day, and I had forgotten about that song. It was one of my favorites, and hadn’t heard it for awhile.
Music tells my life through a melody. It can change my mood. Make me burst in to tears (when I am in a good mood) or make me slap a smile on my face) when I am already crying. It is amazing how much it can impact me.
Music most definitely moves me! It also inspires and motivates me for whatever comes my way. π
i love you are more by 10th ave north. so uplifting! “stronger” by sara evans is pretty motivating and it can be related to things other than a bad relationship
You must listen to K-Love 24/7 like me π One of my favorites right now is Blessings by Laura Story. It chokes me up every time!
Music definitely moves me. I love when I get so moved that I start crying from listening to music — it doesn’t happen too often.
Lately it has been happening when I hear “meeting for the first time” or whatever it is called by The Script — he talks about being unemployed and how hard it is, and it makes me think of Jason and me. It somehow makes me feel like I need to be extra strong for him.
Um.. 3 of my FAVORITE songs!!!
I love these songs, thank you, it’s just what I needed tonight
such moving music!
and youre looking AMAZING, Tina!! Just caught up on the 4 mo progress pics…wow! Consistency is key, you are so right. And also nursing, lack of sleep, new human in your life…what women who dont have kids dont realize is, is that it’s not always so predictable or easy π And you’re right, it’s not linear, ups and downs happens. That said, You’re looking great!
Awesome songs, music can be so moving! At the Christian summer camp I work at, I love seeing all the kids and staff get into the songs (fun/dancy and moving/inspirational ones) we sing after meals and campfires. They really get into it, and it’s awesome when the kids actually take in and listen to the lyrics. One of our staff members sang “set the world on fire” at campfires, and it’s a really beautiful song! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66sQmu6fnxc
OHMYGOSH! I LOVE that song! Britt Nicole is a favorite. π
At our Bible Camp, during our last meal together (lunch on the last day–or is it at supper the night before?), we sing a song where each table (cabins sit at separate tables) gets a thing to be instead of a camper—farmer, flight attendant, baker, baby doll, whatever. And then we go around the room and sing our respective verses. It’s so much fun. I miss it a lot. π
For example,
I’m glad I am a camper; there’s nothing I’d rather be!
But if I weren’t a camper, Mr. Rogers I would be!
Hi! How are you? I’m glad you are my neighbor. Bye!
*And pretend to be feeding fish while you’re singing.*
SO. Much. FUN!! π
LOVE this song!!!
oh my gosh, that 10th avenue song has been stuck in my head all day, the lyrics really moved me. God’s peace was truly felt!
Yes! Music definitely moves me. I find that when I listen to songs that matches my mood…I automatically feel better about everything. π
Those first two I’ve heard and LOVE. The third I’ve never heard before, but it’s awesome!
I love music. I blast it in my car on the way to/from anywhere, and I geek out a little when I hear a song I recognize in a random place (like on TV). It’s even better if it’s a “Christian” song in a “non-Christian” area–like hearing a Kari Jobe song on a Scheel’s commercial yesterday! That was epic.
Tonight was so weird. It was our last music night of the school year. Someone pointed it out to me, and I went, “…Yeah, it is. Sad. :(” But tonight’s music was so moving. I was raising my arms and dancing in my seat up in the sound booth! π It was fun.
“I’m Letting Go” by Francesca Battistelli is one of my “just trust God” favorites.

I love that second song. I’ve never heard it before, but I turned it on and even the dog stopped and listened. π
Music totally moves me. Im always amazed by how much. Love Like Crazy by Lee Brice chokes me up everytime I hear it. I swear that song was written about my Grandpa.
Music is not only fun, but can deeply move us. That’s the beauty of it!
I’ve been having these songs playing in my background as I answer emails, so I figured I better comment on how great they are π
I’ve recently been reading a Christian book series by Karen Kingsbury and I believe it motivates along with beautiful songs like these.
I love music, especially when I’m running. I feel like I’m in a music video π
Music moves me too…I love it. It can completely change my outlook on any given situation. I also wanted to comment on 2 things from your body after baby post yesterday. First, your stomach looks AMAZING!!! I can see a huge difference between month 3 and 4. And second I loved how you said weight loss isn’t linear. That is so true and I think people forget that all the time. Healthy lifestyles mean progress not pefection! <3 U!
The You Are More song gets me EVERY time I hear it, haha! It really is such a beautiful song and I love it. I hadn’t heard those last two songs, but they are both beautiful as well. Music so moves me. Thanks for sharing this, Tina.
Also, I can most definitely tell a difference between month 3 and 4! I cannot believe that you had a BABY just 4 months ago. Tina, you really look fabulous!
I love these songs!! They are so awesome!! Have you heard “Lead Me” by Sanctus Real yet? That one almost makes me cry.
Love that song!
Wow, what great song choices! I am going to have to download these. I love songs that are so moving with their words. My fave lately is from OneRepublic (Good Life)
I LOVE this post!! I love all those songs π
Great message.
And your after baby bod is rockin’! Hope I can be like you when the time comes!
These are 3 of my favorite songs right now! Music moves me, too. I think that’s what it’s supposed to do. π
[…] How often do you revamp or switch up the music you listen to? I like to switch up my playlist every week or two, but I only add new music every few months. I mix it up between stuff like above and my favorite Christian artists. […]
