Month 6 Progress

Posted: July 7, 2011 at 4:00 pm

I first want to say thank you to those of you showing support for me as a Fitfluential ambassador! I wouldn’t have the chance, or guts, to reach for any of my goals without your support. You all are so awesome! If you missed it this morning – and think I would make a good fit to represent my area - feel free to keep the support coming now. 🙂

Back to Body After Baby…

Braedon turns 6 months old on Monday. Another four weeks have passed since my last check-in and update on the Body After Baby progress. Those four weeks included quite a lot of excitement – picking up half marathon training, a week long vacation to the beach, and officially stepping out to begin personal training certification. Despite a busy month with quite a few out of the norm events and occasional added stress, I put in effort to remain consistent with my eating habits, workouts, and self-care.

Yet again, consistency makes little changes that add up over time.

Boy I look sleepy in my recent pictures! Hahaha!

Month 6 Progress Stats

This Month’s Progress Overall Total Progress
Weight - 2.0 lbs - 18.0 lbs
Stomach (Smallest) - 0.25” - 3.75”
Stomach (Belly Button) - 0.25” - 5.25”
Hips - 0.5” - 4.5”
Butt - 0.5” - 4.5”
Thighs - 0.0” - 2.75”

I didn’t expect to see much change this month. Not only because of a vacation, but also because I know I’m very close to the goal I had set out to achieve. I managed to get back into my goal jeans after all! So where do I go from here?

For starters, I am retiring the scale again. I think it worked great as a tool to help me lose the baby weight. Now, I feel I have done that and don’t want to find myself caught up in trying to reach some arbitrary number or lose more more more. I maintained a healthy relationship with the scale, but also don’t see a need for it from here on out where simply knowing my body and noting how clothes fit will provide enough information for my current goals with my body.

I plan to focus on my half marathon training and keeping consistent with regular workouts.

I plan to focus on maintaining healthy eating habits.

I also plan on continuing my monthly progress check-ins with photos and measurements. Mainly because I planned to document my body and how it changes the first year post-pregnancy and I want to follow through with a full year’s experience. I want to continue to share this journey with you all. I also believe my body will continue to change over the remainder of the year as I challenge myself with new fitness goals and workouts. I want to document these possible changes as a natural part of my lifestyle, beyond the “lose the baby weight / get back in shape” goal.

In short, I know I have achieved my original goals and what I set out to do. I have reached my “happy place”. However, the healthy lifestyle doesn’t end. Consistency will continue to make little changes that add up to the happiest, fittest, and most energized quality of life and self I will continue to grow to see. I feel there now, but that doesn’t mean my decisions and habits won’t  keep building upon that solid foundation. So where do I go from here? I live. The healthy lifestyle I adore.

  • What do you usually do when you meet a goal? I usually find a new goal to work towards (half marathon training, personal training certification!) but still focus on building the habits and actions that helped me achieve previous goals.

  1. You are amazing, Tina. GOOD WORK! 🙂 And love that you are being smart and removing the temptation to obsess over numbers now that you’ve reached your goal; that takes discipline, too — especially after having such success. I really think that you are inspiring, encouraging, and motivating people when you are sharing your journey. I especially applaud that you plan to keep showing that health is something that we can still build even after the “weight is off,” etc! Health is not just about pounds, and I love that you emphasize your story isn’t ending here; there’s always more to do to nurture our health (because health will look differently in different seasons of life)! 🙂 Go you!

    • Tina says:

Thanks so so much Katie! I really hope to show these things through how I live, my journey, etc and it means a lot that it comes across. Have a great Friday!

  2. Tina you look AMAZING! Congrats on all your hard work and efforts and for proving that moms don’t have to just drive minivans. We can rock bikinis too 🙂

    Seriously great job!!!!

  3. Girl you are so INSPIRING!!!!!!! You make me want this baby to come out even faster because well, for one I can’t wait to meet him, but now also because I can’t wait to challenge myself and get my body back!

  4. Katie says:

Looking good, Mama!! You’re such a motivation…I’m working on that post-baby-belly too, and it’s so encouraging to see your progress!

  5. Chelsie says:

It’s amazing what you can do in 6 months! You look fantastic.
I love working towards goals, when I achieve one I find a new one to work towards.

  6. Amanda says:

You are such an inspiration! Each month I am in more awe of how great you are doing and your positive attitude! Im glad to hear you are becoming a personal trainer, you will be a great one!!

  7. Mandy says:

YOu look great girlie and very fit 🙂 I hope I bounce back as quickly as you did after this next baby!!!

Also, glad to see the scale go away for awhile 🙂

  8. You look great Tina! I’m not a big fan of going by the scale, inches & clothing are the way I keep track of my progress. I think a lot of us tend to become obsessed w/ the scale & there’s no need for that! 🙂

  9. I can’t believe it’s been 6 months already! You look fantastic and I admire all the hard work you’ve put into maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. I think it’s great that you’ll be ditching the scale and focusing on other things like training now. Good luck with everything!

  10. Amazing progress!! Happy 6 Month Birthday, to Braedon!

  11. Woo! Lookatchu! You look great, Tina. 🙂

I’m still working on post baby tummy. 2 years later. 🙁 But…it’s getting there. Setbacks are a *bleep*.

I usually set a goal after I complete one. 🙂 But, that doesn’t mean my head isn’t full of ideas ALL the TIME.

  12. Set a new goal and keep trucking! I have decided that if I can I am going to do something for myself for meeting goals, like a pedicure or getting pink highlights.

You are doing awesome btw! 🙂

  13. Beth says:

    Tina-
You look awesome! I can’t believe the transformation! Your total weight loss of 18 lbs seems less than I would expect (based on your pics), does that mean you only gained 18 lbs? I hope you don’t mind me asking:)

    • Tina says:

don’t mind you asking at all. The 18 lbs is from when I started tracking with the scale after one month already into post-pregnancy. I gained about 25 pounds when pregnant and had already lost a good part of that weight before I started tracking my Body After Baby progress. I would guess I’m about 10 lbs below pre-pregnancy weight.

  14. You are doing so great! Keep it up girl!! Looking good 😉

  15. Alicia says:

    Tina! You look wonderful!!

  16. WOW!! You looks SO SO SO great, Tina!! Ugh, you give me HOPE for my Operation Post Baby Booty haha. I get down sometimes when I don’t see the inches coming down, I know it’s only been 2 months, but overall I am staying positive! You are such an inspiration and your positive attitude is awesome! you should be so proud to rock that bikini!

  17. You are so awesome, Tina!!! I love love loveeeeee your healthy approach to everything! You are a true role model, through and through.

  18. you are an incredible person!

  19. […] Featured Post: Reaching the Happy Weight Goal […]

  20. Tina, you look amazing! Your arms especially. I guess I should start following your weight workouts 🙂

  21. Geraldine says:

You look so brilliant! There is nothing better than fitting into a pair of goal jeans, is there? Thank you for being such an inspiration for new mothers out there and people like me who aren’t mommies yet but hope to be one day! It makes me less scared 🙂

  22. Congratulations on your amazing progress! I’m going to be bold and ask if you would do a post of a beginning back to body photo and 6 months photo side by side? I just got back from a week at the beach and I hope I didn’t totally fall off the wagon and gain like 5lbs or something. Your posts are always inspiring which is why I keep coming back. It’s so refreshing to see another fellow mama reach her personal goals!

  23. always amazing me tina! you’ve done it AGAIN! 🙂 congrats.

  24. Céline says:

    You look incredible 🙂
Congratulations on reaching your goal in just six short months… So inspiring!

  25. Dang girl! Lookin’ good! You are totally my inspiration for getting my body back after my baby! I used to be scared to death about gaining weight during pregnancy, but I think it has actually taught me how to be healthier in general, listening to my body during workouts and also my hunger level (Lord knows I can’t fit in nearly as much food as I used to!). I have no doubt in my mind that I can get back to where I used to be, and you have definitely shown me that it is possible. So, THANK YOU for that!

    • Tina says:

I know I definitely gained a healthier mindset with food when pregnant. You have to learn to honor your body after all!

  26. Amy says:

You look amazing as usual! I agree about the scale too, its so easy to get caught up in numbers!

  27. You look absolutely amazing Tina!! You’re so very inspiring…it’s just so awesome to see you doing this in such a healthy balanced way, and you’re proof that it is possible! We just have to love ourselves and give our bodies respect with healthy foods and exercise and love….thank you for showing your progress and honesty throughout all of this, it’s truly inspiring 🙂

  28. Jennifer says:

    Tina,
I find your blog’s focus to be so refreshing! I don’t remember how I came across your blog, but I am so glad I did!

Thanks for being so transparent with us 🙂

    Many blessings!
