Daily Feats Add Up

Posted: August 12, 2011 at 7:00 am

Guess what. It’s Friday, y’all! Wow. I felt like the biggest redneck typing that. Even living in the South my entire life, I have never been a big “y’all”-er. But it’s Friday and Friday deserves a little crazy. So – Happy Friday, y’all!

Just like the past couple of weeks, Friday now means a rest day for me. Though, it still a little odd resting on Friday instead of Sundays (my standard rest day of choice for years). I feel like on a weekday I should get up and do something just like all my other weekdays. Then, I remind myself the rest prepares me for my Saturday long runs and gives me the chance to have a less stressful and crazy morning one day of the week. Much needed and both good for the health.

Besides, just because I’m not getting my workout groove on doesn’t mean I don’t do things to better my health in other ways. I think we too easily forget about all the many, many, many ways we affect our health beyond our eating and fitness habits. Like flossing, sleeping, taking care of our money, hydrating, taking the stairs, or saying “I love you”. But you know what? Those DO count!

You know what else? Those can also count and add up to moolah in your pocket. You heard me. Cash. Money. Bills. Well, more aptly…Starbucks. iTunes. Amazon. Fandango. SpaFinder.

Yes. I’m for real.

Earlier this week, I received some information about a new site called DailyFeats.

DailyFeats1

At first, I thought “whatever…another product pitch”. Then, I took a closer look. You sign up. You check in daily or throughout the day (they even have an app!) to mark off certain feats you accomplished. You earn points for every little thing you do to better your health. Your points add up. You cash in your points for prizes – like gift cards to iTunes, Amazon, Fandango, and Starbucks. Ummm…why the heck not?!?!

I have received nothing for this. Nothing. I simply had to share it with you all. I love that DailyFeats offers a site to focus and reward a broad spectrum of healthy behaviors and positive actions.

I can finally get something for the incessant laundry and dishes!!!

There are so many things to earn points with. Not just workouts or meal choices, although those are there too. Just like I enjoy checking in with my budget to remain aware of my spending, this is a cool way to check in with my habits to look at my lifestyle and how I care for myself. AND earn some free new running music down the line…helping me rack up even more points.

Sure, it’s another thing to keep up with online. Sure, there are some ways they could make the site more user friendly – such as allowing you to check in more than one feat with one click instead of individual clicks for each. Sure, it can take a bit of time to rack up 2000 points for some of the better gift cards (although I have racked up over 200 in just a few days). Even with all that, I still think its a pretty cool site. I’m signed up. I have the app. And I’m working towards a free movie night with the husband. We don’t have a huge entertainment budget, remember? 😉

  • What are some ways you take care of your health beyond the standard eating and fitness habits?
  • Want to sign up for DailyFeats? Earn 50 points to get you started by entering the code faithfitnessrun50 when signing up. 🙂

**I cannot express enough that I received nothing for this post. I was simply made aware of this site and decided to give it a try out of my own personal will. The opinions are 100% my own, honest thoughts.

  1. For years, I watched Paula Deen and wished I said “y’all” as naturally as she did. 🙂 I’m going to check out the daily feats website!

  5. Amy says:

Other than eating well (most of the time) and exercising I make sure that I write something everyday. It might be on the blog, it might just be some lyrics for a song I’m working on, or it might be a letter to my darling man, having some creative outlet everyday feeds part of me that food can’t nourish, and uses muscles that cardio and strength can’t flex.
Great idea for the Daily Feats!

  6. jobo says:

I have heard of this from my sis (shocker) and LOVE the concept. It is awesome. Enjoy your rest day today! I am enjoying NOT doing a long run today (Fridays have been the day for it for me) in anticipation of Sunday’s half!

  8. What a cool website! I am definetly going to check it out. I try to make sure I workout and eat right, but still rest and indulge every now and then. It keeps the body and healthy in my opinion. Enjoy your rest day 🙂

  9. Lee says:

I don’t say y’all either. But I’m not originally from Georgia, so that’s probably why. I’m a bigger fan of “you guys” which I know that some people in the South hate, but I grew up saying it.

That site looks cool. I’ll definitely sign up.

  10. Mac says:

That’s sounds really neat, I’ll have to check it out!

  11. um, i’m totally signing up as soon as i can sneak into our bedroom without waking nate up. daily feats sounds AWESOME…and actually much needed around our house 🙂

  14. Anna Marie says:

I slept in! It felt good after having not been able to sleep restfully for weeks due to being anxious over certification tests and AM runs make me restless as well. lol

  15. Jess says:

I have actually worked with the founders of Daily Feats (part of my “day job”) – they are GREAT people and it’s so clear that they are grounded in their mission of inspiring others to achieve greatness in the little things in their day. LOVE this Tina!

  16. Bari says:

Thanks for sharing! I just signed up & got the bonus points 🙂

Fridays are my day to rest up for Saturday’s run & today I’m vowing to fuel with only healthy food and hydrate well, as soon as I get out of bed. I even got to sleep in today 🙂

  17. Um…totally signing up for that! It sounds awesome :).

  18. wait…this is amazing. My mind is struggling to wrap itself around how cool this is. Thanks for the tip!

  19. Samantha says:

Daily Feats is awesome!! I’ve been using it for a few weeks now because it was highlighted in FITNESS and it’s just cool. The simplest things get you points! Although I do agree it could be a bit more user-friendly. Ahh, you win some, you lose some.

    Happy Friday!

  20. Kelly says:

Honestly? I think sex is a big one for me. (Obviously I am married and not talking about random hook up sex) But sex with my husband is something I need. It enhances our relationship and my well being. I think it is definitely something that we both need that postively affects our health.

  21. Making sure I get enough SLEEP is soooooo important for me!

  22. Kara says:

Wait, so this site gives you free things for doing nothing? I mean, can I just click a whole bunch of things (sure, I mopped those floors) and get Starbucks? *gives side eye to said website*

    • Tina says:

Haha! Although they might catch on if you say you’re going to the dentist every day. Which, ironically, I am going to the dentist today.

  23. I just checked out Dailyfeats and signed up! It looks pretty cool! 🙂

  24. Seriously?! What a cool website! I’m going to check it out right now!

  25. To take care of my health, I try to find things that make me relax because I tend to a bit high energy and get anxious quickly. This can be a simple walk around the block with my little family, reading a magazine, reading in bed before shutting off the light, or baking.

  26. Mellissa says:

Thanks for sharing this, I will be trying it out!

  27. Interesting app. Let’s see – one other healthy thing I do is to step outside during the work day. I know it sounds dumb, but it is good for my mind, my eyes (looking at spreadhseets all day), and my body. A little vitamin D goes a long way, right?

  28. Erica says:

    I love y’all ;). What a great idea! I need!

  29. So I haven’t ever SAID “y’all” but I always want to type it! No idea why. That Daily Feats thing is too cool. I am signing up! See you in a week! xoxo

  30. FREE Itunes money??? I don’t think I can sign up quick enough!! 😛

  31. You mean stay at home moms can earn fun things for the things they do around the house!?! I’m THERE!

PS: Y’all? I feel geekier writing it than saying it. 😉

  32. Um, points and prizes for doing the things I normally do in a day? Sign me up!! Thanks for sharing this program!! Signing up now!! 
