Just How I Imagined

Posted: September 6, 2011 at 7:00 am

Good morning after the three day weekend many of us had this week! I heard crickets around here this weekend, so I think a lot of us enjoyed unplugging. It felt good, didn’t it?

If you unplugged and feel like doing a bit of FFF reading, here’s what you may have missed:

Or you could click out of reader and check out the new look at the bottom of the blog! Peter updated things to show my recent posts in a more reader friendly way, so you don’t have to scroll a ton. I love him! And find it so strange he finds CSS coding fun.

I feel very refreshed today after taking things low all day yesterday. It was just how I imagined. I say I find it hard to relax, but once I get in the relaxing mood there is just no stopping me.

After waking up and blogging yesterday morning, I did nothing but enjoy my day in a very laid-back way. Even the gym forced me not to rush my morning since it opened later than usual. I didn’t have to pack two kids up and out the door asap, so I could sit and enjoy some breakfasts with them.

IMGP1184-1

I had a small bowl of Cascadian Farms Chocolate O’s. Yes, I’m closer to 30 than 3, but the kiddie cereal caught my eye. I had a free product coupon from Health Living Summit and I’m going to get what I really want to try. And it was a mighty good decision. Yes. It. Was.

Finally came the time to make it to the gym. I did some legs, shoulders, and abs weights before heading into spin class. Spin class owned me.

As usual. No need to worry. I did actually shower right after the gym this time. Then, hopped straight into my “comfy clothes”. Some oversized men’s boxer shorts and a strappy tank top.

IMGP1190-1

It’s all sorts of high end fashion up in here. Winking smile

I immediately gobbled up a bowl of Mocha Oats. This time with coconut.

IMGP1068-1

It’s like eating a Starbucks mocha coconut frappuccino. I pat myself on the back for that one.

And the caffeine didn’t even keep me awake. Oh, yes. I napped. For the second time in three days. That’s very unusual for me, but I guess I needed to get caught up on some sleep. Thankfully the kids did too because we all spent the afternoon a-dozing.

Just in time to wake up and realize I didn’t have lunch since I had two breakfasts at odd times. I remedied that right away by making a couple of snack plates for Makenzie & I to munch before movie time.

IMGP1187-1

Some sliced sharp cheddar, apple slices, hummus, and “Peter” chips as M calls them. Love that little goober and all her Makenzie-isms.

IMGP1188-1

The rest of the day and night I literally did nothing but plop my booty on the couch or the floor with the family. First, we watched Monster’s Inc. Then, we rolled around the floor with some “pig and duck” playing.

IMGP0912

No one else can be pig but mommy. And I would like to know why. Perhaps I should shower more or not fight my child for food? Hmmmm…

And finally it was time for dinner and bed for the kids, then chill time with the hubby. I didn’t even feel the need to zone out with Bachelor Pad. No desire for mindless television at the end of the night? If that’s not a true sign I had a relaxing day, then I don’t know what is! Winking smile

  • What do your “comfy clothes” look like?
  • When was the last time you tried to unplug for awhile?

  2. You’re so lucky to have a man in your life who’s familiar with CSS coding! I’m going to sign Will up for some CSS classes 😉

I stayed in my pajamas alllll day yesterday 🙂

  4. My comfy clothes are about the same – except yesterday I pulled out the pants and the slippers. It’s cold here!

  9. Kelly says:

I know it is strange but there is nothing better to me than getting in a good workout, taking a shower and putting PJ’s back on. Love.

  10. Amy Lauren says:

I love that pic of Mackenzie, she’s so cute! And my comfy clothes consist of soccer shorts and a race t-shirt, usually, or just whatever random t-shirt is laying around. Unless it’s chilly, when it’s pajama pants and a t-shirt.

I love “kid” cereals like chocolate cheerios type stuff. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with eating them even if you’re closer to 30 than 3 :). It’s a fun breakfast and always takes me back!

  11. Holly says:

Totally loved your recap of a normal, relaxing day (complete with comfy clothes). Keeping it real 🙂

  12. Yesterday my comfy clothes were yoga pants and a sweatshirt. It was cold here!

Also, I’m jealous your husband knows coding and can help with your blog. One time Tim watched me put a screen shot into a post and with wide eyes exclaimed, “How did you DO that?” Yeah. He’s no help. 🙂

  13. I took the weekend off from blogging. It was a good one though! My comfy clothes were on yesterday – sweat pants and a t-shirt from 1990-something. 🙂

Mocha oats = awesome. Have you put coffee in smoothies? Also delish!

    • Tina says:

I used to ALWAYS have a protein smoothie made with coffee, a scoop of chocolate protein powder, some almond milk, and something else I can’t remember. Love.

  14. Love the bottom of your page! Is it weird that I never read posts in my reader…I always open them in their blog? Probably because I feel like I’m still in that mode where I need to comment like a fiend haha. Glad you had a nice and relaxing day yesterday! My comfy clothes are either my pjs or my “cheerleading” (soffee) shorts and a t-shirt

    • Tina says:

Did you see my post about the “next” button for reader? It lets you go through your posts in google reader but you actually raed them on the page. Love it!

  15. my comfy clothes are pretty similar to yours! i usually wear a plain tank with a v-neck white tee and running shorts (which i only wear for lounging – not running!).

i like the new feature on the bottom of the blog! easy to catch up on recent posts!

  16. My comfy clothes look just like that in the summer too. In the winter it’s a pair of incredibly oversized 10 yr old Old Navy sweatpants that I refuse to throw out. so comfy!

  17. That sounds like a pretty perfect, relaxing day to me 🙂 I love Monsters Inc! My comfy clothes are pretty much exactly like yours!

  18. I agree! The blogworld was very unplugged this weekend. It’s nice to know everyone’s out living it up on a holiday weekend though 🙂
I have two versions of comfy clothes – the ones I wear in public (lululemon, yoga pants, most of what I have from target) and then the ones only Shane ahs the luxury of seeing. These are old as in from high school old, baggy, grubby, and oh-so-comfy!

  19. jobo says:

OMG that pic of M is SO CUTE! Love that smile on her face. And mental note: try your mocha oats tomorrow morning! forgot to today!

  20. Sounds very similar to my Labor Day..sleep, a great workout and cuddling with the kids! Doesn’t get much better!

  21. Ahh sounds like a perfect low key day! Good for you! My comfy clothes are always baggy and definitely not the most stylish, but I don’t care…they’re comfy and that’s what they’re supposed to be! 🙂

  22. Mellissa says:

I did a pretty good job of relaxing on Sunday, doesn’t happen often but it felt so good.

  23. Runblondie26 says:

Makenzie is too precious. I love that picture of her! her expressionis priceless.

  24. Sarah says:

Well pigs are some of the smartest animals so I think the role fits 🙂

My comfy clothes involve a huge teeshirt, yoga pants, and a hoodie (that I commandeered from one of my college boyfriends).

  25. Love M’s face with her Peter chips! And my comfy clothes are yoga pants and a t-shirt. Height of fashion.

  26. I love that cereal too. Sometimes fun cereal is the only thing that will do! My comfy clothes are starting to look a little worn out. My yoga pants have all kinds of holes in them. I think I need to treat myself to some new ones soon!

  27. I think I might get that same kind of cereal!! Sometimes I think I’m more like a kid than I should be at 27..

  28. Emily says:

My comfy clothes usually involve yoga-ish pants, a tshirt or tank and a hoodie 🙂 And definitely flip flops or comfy socks depending on the season! Today is definitely a comfy, cozy day…I’m thinking maybe making a soup is in order 🙂

  29. My comfy clothes are usually PJ pants, a fitted tee, fuzzy slipper socks, and a jammy hoodie. Love! My poor hubby rarely sees me in my fashionable work clothes since I’m already in the comfy ones by the time he gets home!

  30. Kiah says:

I always sweat so much at spin class…sometimes it drips onto the floor below my bike! 🙂

  31. Seriously…that girl’s smile is a ridiculous amount of cute!

I am definitely, 100% a comfy clothes type of gal…and I think it drives my husband nuts. I like to dress up for occasion, but if I’m just hanging around the house, it’s sweats and one if his t-shirts for me!

  32. My comfy clothes are boxer shorts and a tank top or loose shirt! If I could, I would live in them forever!

  33. Rebecca says:

I didn’t change out of pajama pants at all the last two days. 😀 PJ/sweatpants and a shirt and I’m good! 🙂

  34. Aww sound like you and M had a blast!

    My comfy clothes = yoga/sweatpants + t-shirt. Heaven!

  35. I am on day 3 of your mocha oats. Today I may or may not have swirled in nutella.

  36. Katie says:

Those Chocolate O’s are good! I had those before! I need to buy them again ; )

CUTEST pic ever of your daughter, her smile is precious!

Comfy clothes, Sweats! Vic Secret sweats ; ) and PINK ones! ha!

  37. I like the recent posts list. I’ve been wanting to do something like on mine with thumbnails, but can’t find the right plug-in. Boo!

My casual clothes are always a tank and oversized running shorts in the summer or workout pants in the winter. Anything with an elastic waist is perfect.

    • Tina says:

We couldn’t find a plug in either. Peter had to do some CSS coding to make a grid and then a whole slew of other stuff i have not a clue on. LOL

  38. Nice change to the recent posts! My comfy clothes are sweatpants and a hoodie:) I like to be warm!

  39. Carrie says:

A friend of mine pointed me toward your blog this morning and I just adore it!! Great job with everything 🙂 Comfy clothes… a tank and old cotton shorts (the older, the more comfy!).

    • Tina says:

Welcome!!! Thanks for saying hello, too. I always love connecting with my readers and hope to hear more from you in the future. 🙂

And yes – the older the better when it comes to comfy clothes!

  40. my comfy clothes are pretty much the same as yours: gray soffe shorts with paw prints on the bum (from my college years), and a soft tee or tank top. In the wintertime it’s my underarmour fleece pants and a long-sleeved shirt. 🙂 I love warm, comfy clothes.

  41. Gotta love men’s boxer shorts, they are sooo comfy 🙂
My comfy outfit is flannel pajama bottoms and a simply t-shirt! In the winter- sweat pants, t-shirt and sweatshirt with a hood!

  42. […] Just How I Imagined […]

  43. That is the cutest photo of M!

  44. Loooove putting coffee in my oats, yumyumyum.

There is something seriously amazing about getting into clean PJs when you’re fresh from the shower! My comfy clothes are usually men’s trackies and a hoody though… and maybe a dressing gown that should have been washed at least a hundred more times than it actually has… cringe!

  45. Heather says:

We are big time comfy clothes people. Actually on my second date with my now fiancee – I went back to my house and he immediately offered me a pair of his sweats because he was gonna get into his! Ha! I haven’t looked back 🙂
