Cliché

Posted: September 9, 2011 at 7:11 pm

A lot of what I plan to talk about in this post is soooo cliché but I just don’t care. I will happily be a cliché if it means having a perfect afternoon like I did.

IMGP1284-1

Both the wee ones napped long and hard this afternoon. Which only meant that I worked long and hard too. I got some writing and things done for some sites I’m contributing to next month, shared some good laughs with my top secret weapon for staying in shape, and became a cleaning/laundry folding machine. Once they both woke up (after three hours!!), I was itching to head outdoors to partake in the beautiful weather.

Yes, it’s cliché but I am SO excited for fall type weather!!!! It allows me to get outdoors even more to revel in God's natural beauty.

IMGP1263-1

Although it was a little warmer than fall this afternoon, hitting the low-80s. Still anywhere from mid 70s to low 80s is my perfect temperature and makes me want to sit outside all day.

IMGP1282-1

Wait. Did I say sit? I meant tag around after Makenzie as she runs from one side of the playground to the other more times than I can count.

IMGP1258-1IMGP1265-1IMGP1256-1IMGP1260-1

And the kid has suddenly developed this new sense of adventure. Even a few months ago, she would freak out climbing up the stairs of a playground or going down the slide. Now, I have to make sure she doesn’t fall through the holes of rope ladders. It would inevitably happen. Kid has my klutzo genes.

IMGP1274-1

Makenzie had the time of her life, while poor little B had to munch on some stroller strap for entertainment.

IMGP1261-1

Kidding! He did chill in the stroller for a bit, but I’m not about to keep him from his love of the swing! I could swing him all day to hear his little giggles.

IMGP1271-1IMGP1269-1

Once they burned off over an hour of energy on the playground, we took a brief stroll over to the pond at this particular park to check out the ducks and geese.

IMGP1280-1

Makenzie is obsessed with ducks. It’s kind of insane. Ducks. Ducks. Ducks!

If you’re a friend or family member reading right now and wondering what to get her for her birthday next month…get her some of these little rubber ducks. She will love you forever.

And if you want me to love you forever, bring me a Pumpkin Spice Iced Coffee.

IMGP1287-1

I told you. Cliché.

While hanging out at the park, I spied with my little eye a fellow mom sipping on a Starbucks iced coffee. I immediately felt gripped with a craving. Normally I can tune those types of cravings out, but then I remember the benefits of coffee as part of my healthy motherhood. And after playing for two hours at the park, I needed some coffee in a bad way.

IMGP1289-1

Starbucks decaf iced coffee with two pumps pumpkin spice and non-fat milk. Just how I like love it! Call me a cliché all you want. I’m a proud “pumpkin loving healthy living blogger”,“spend the day at the park stay at home mom”, and "find the joy in everything because God is awesome chick".

  • Do you fit into any clichés? Does it bother you or do you rock it?
  • What is your ideal temperatures?

  1. I am totally being all cliche about fall! It’s just too easy to “fall’ into the trap! The pumpkin, the leaves changing, the air getting cooler, football starting….I can’t help it! 🙂

  2. I totally rock the “pumpkin loving healthy living Blogger” cliche too. I have already had a pumpkin spice lattes this week AND i baked pumpkin muffins. I am also playing outside in the backyard with my kids right now. I am not a stay at home mom but I love to take advantage of this beautiful weather when I can. Anything in the 70’s is ideal for me.

  3. Meg says:

Oh gosh, I am SUCH a klutz! Sometimes to the point of getting frustrated with myself because I can’t seem to overcome gravity! I sadly fit into the “blonde” cliche (although not as much as I did in highschool) just because I’m pretty perky and sometimes I can be a little absent minded– oops!

  4. That weather today was insane, right?! Perfect for being outside! I own up to my cliches. I don’t mind at all. I’m glad you had a great day Tina!

  5. Kelly says:

Sounds like the perfect cliche afternoon!

  6. Stacy says:

It’s not cliche, it’s absolutely perfect =) Fall weather always puts me in such an awesome mood, too!

  7. I love fall weather, too and I just can’t wait for it to cool down here. It’s still close to 90 everyday which is too hot for me this time of year.
I have a mini panic attack every time my son climbs those rope ladders at the playground. 🙂

  8. I had the exact same drink yesterday. It’s so delicious and put me in the mood for the perfect large bowl of warm beef stew that I love with fall.

  9. Who cares if it’s cliche… if it makes you happy, that’s all that matters!

  10. You are such a good mom, Tina!! M & B are lucky 🙂
And that is almost exactly how I take my Starbuck’s lattes too! – except regular instead of decaf

  11. Can you believe that I’ve never tried a pumpkin spiced coffee? I can’t… It’s on the list for tomorrow after my ocean swim & cycle. But, I find that the syrups are too sweet for me lately – how sweet is this, on a scale of 1 to 10? (if you can even do that, ’cause I know that this request is kind of odd)

    • Tina says:

If you ask for less pumps (they normally do 4 so I ask for 2) it comes out less sweet. I don’t care for super sweet coffee either. It is sweeter still than my typical, but not over the top.

  12. Holly says:

Being cliche is okay if you ask me! It’s better to be cliche and happy than original and pessimistic. 😀 I’m a walking talking cliche today, too. I get just as excited about fall and I’ve been in an ESPECIALLY good mood today so everything is just wonderful to me, hah.

  13. Maren says:

What a fun afternoon. Be careful, I love turtles as a little girl and I had about a million of them! You might end up with a million ducks.

  14. I’m in love with littel B-man. He is freaking ADORABLE. And lil’ Miss M? Has some seriously beautiful hair.

PS: I didn’t even THINK to do a pumpkin spice iced latte!!! Guess what I’ll be doing soon?

  15. Lauren says:

Totally not cliche! I had myself a pumpkin spice frap today (2 pumps!) It was the only sunshine in my rainy day. (haha, now that was cliche)

  16. I think your “cliche afternoon” sounds perfect!! I love how you totally rocked it too. Way to be proud because you should be! I never even thought of a pumpkin spiced ICED coffee…brilliant! Your little B is too cute in the swing!!

  17. hahaha yesss! I love how cliche this entire post was – but, really, you are just seeing the beauty and being grateful for the small things in life. That makes you awesome.

  18. OMGosh, your boy is so big! And he is too cute!

  19. Brittany says:

This is super cute. Your kids are SO precious!!! Adorable. I can’t wait to get a pumpkin iced coffee. My perfect weather is in the 70s 😀

  20. Amy Lauren says:

Looks like you guys had fun at the playground!

I gotta try that pumpkin spice iced coffee. I wanted one today but didn’t get it because I have a race tomorrow (I cut back on caffeine the day before, and I don’t eat anything unfamiliar). Soooo… tomorrow after my 5K I am totally getting one!

  21. Cliche or not, your afternoon sounds great!!! Your kids are too stinkin cute, and there’s nothing butter than starbucks on a warm afternoon 🙂

  22. I lurrrrrrve fall and spring weather 🙂 I want to come to GA and go with you and play with M & B at the park please!!! I LOVE swinging 🙂

  23. Khushboo says:

Ha if having a great afternoon means you’re a cliche, I will happily join you 😀

  24. I fit into the cliché that all food bloggers are “obsessed” with pumpkin and fall weather. I love it! Fall is my favorite time of year because it should and usually does have the best temops (65-70 maybe even chillier??)

  25. Oh gosh…if you’re a cliché, I don’t even want to know what I am! Bring on the pumpkin EVERYTHING for me…you know I’m obsessed. And I’m darn proud of it. 🙂
However, one thing I haven’t been able to get on board with ice the pumpkin spice ICED coffee. Do you like it better than hot coffee? For some reason, the pumpkin flavor just tastes better hot to me. Nice and cozy.
Favorite temps for me? Probably mid 60’s. LOVE that!

    • Tina says:

It was just too hot to get hot coffee and I was going to get my fix, dang it. 😉 LOL

I do prefer it hot too though. Like you said – nice and cozy.

  26. Therese says:

70-80 degrees is my perfect temperature range as well. I LOVE the pics of baby B in the swing. So happy! And I’m with M… I love(d) ducks and “duck” was even my first word!

  27. Suzy says:

nothing wrong with a cliche or two – and i so love the fall weather! and your babies are adorable! sounds like a lovely afternoon. 🙂 ps. i also plan on enjoying a nice starbucks coffee this afternoon!
