800 Calories Of Pure Sugar

Posted: September 12, 2011 at 12:33 pm

Now that I have gotten all the sad talk out of my system, let’s get back to the more normal tune of things around here. Thank you for your support and helping me feel like I’m not completely insane.

Getting caught up in depressing thoughts isn’t the only thing I do while Peter leaves me for a few days. I still manage to have some good times. Saturday afternoon, I did a little football watching with Makenzie.

Wait. I take that back. That game was not fun to watch at the end. So close, but not close enough! Ah, my Georgia Bulldogs, I shall still love you. And I think I may need to stop watching games. I feel like a bad luck charm.

I couldn’t watch the middle portion of the game because I was making the kids’ dinner and putting them to bed. Well, that’s when Georgia made some great gains. Then, as soon as I start watching again – they have all sorts of trouble (that fumble!). I told ya. Bad luck charm.

I had a good little dinner to sooth the pain of watching yet another defeat, though.

Whenever Peter goes out of town I always find myself grabbing an Atlanta Bread Company sandwich and salad combo for dinner one night. It’s the perfect easy dinner combo!

A chicken salad sandwich with lettuce, tomato and onion on whole wheat bread.

And a salad with blue cheese, cranberries, walnuts, and apples.

After that, I decided to tuck myself in early with two of my solo girl’s night favorites.

FRIENDS on DVD (Season 5 – “The One Where Everybody Finds Out” = BEST episode!!)

and the leftovers of a small bag of candy corn I nibbled on through the weekend.

Yes, that is 800 calories of pure sugar I consumed in three days and I don’t give a tiny rat’s ass (FRIENDS-ism in case you didn’t know). I love candy corn and couldn’t refrain from it’s call at the store. Do they have to put bags for $1 right at the checkout lines?? They should know my patience would be waning grocery shopping with both children!

Oh well. I loved every sugary bite. Rolling on the floor laughing <--- me hopped up on sugar

While I certainly miss Peter a ton and go a little crazy without him here, there are certainly some highlights to down time alone. Peter’s This Old House marathons just can’t compete with my FRIENDS marathons. I think you would agree.

  • Is there something you always like to do when you have down time to yourself?
  • If you’re a FRIENDS fan, what are some of your favorite “FRIENDS-isms”? Mine = “You’re so pretty” (aka “wow, you’re special”) and “That is brand new information!”  (aka “no…really?!?!”). Clearly, I love any form of sarcasm.

Do you know what is crack? Candy corn mixed with peanuts…oh my heaven! It gets my sweet salty tooth in overdrive!!!

    • Tina says:

So many people tell me that…but I fear I would end up eating five bags each of candy corn and peanuts if I combined the two. LOL

  2. Amy says:

MmmM, the pumpkins from the Autumn Mix are my absolute favorite!

  3. Keren says:

I also LOVE Friends! My favorite is “It’s a moo point. You know, like a cow’s opinion; it doesn’t matter. It’s moo.” It cracks me up every time!!! When my hubby goes out of town I usually get Chinese or Thai food because he won’t eat it.

Also, don’t worry about your irrational fears. I think everyone has them but no one talks about it. I have a fear that I personally will die young, and I don’t know why.

I think the Dawgs will definitely win this weekend. We play Nobody University.

    🙂 Go Dawgs!!! Sic’ em!!!!!

  4. Christy says:

We quote Friends ALL the time! Murphy’s law says that I can’t remember them right now…so, there’s that… 🙂

  5. Yay for candy corn season! That reminds me, I should probably start thinking of fun recipes with candy corn for this year!

  6. I am SUCH a friends fan, but didn’t get into it until a few years ago, because my boyfriend has all the dvds! I always watch episodes before bed… it’s just something that feels good and leaves me sleeping with happy thoughts.

I have so many friends-isms. Especially… “I KNOW!!!!!” (Monica) or “I’m soooo sorrryyyyyyy *pushes boobs together*” (Rachel) Not gonna lie, I don’t have much boobage, but I definitely do that as comic relief when my boyfriend is mad at me haha 🙂

  7. I am pretty sure that Friends will always be funny. I love when Joey is on the game show and keeps guessing the same thing over and over 🙂

  8. Haha I love Friends-isms!! One that sticks out in my mind is an episode where Chandler goes to a friend of Monica’s and Phoebe’s and says “Well, aren’t you a treat!” The way he says it is absolutely hilarious and hubby and I love to use the line all the time 🙂

And when I have down time I love to catch up on my guilty pleasure Real Housewives, and eat a not so conventional dinner, like fro yo 😉

  9. My boyfriend bought me all 10 seasons of Friends for our anniversary this year! I’m on season 2… LOVE

  10. Friends quotes are always so relevant. My favorite episode ever is the Thanksgiving one where Rachel makes the English Trifle/Shepherd’s Pie concoction. I pulled my favorite scene from IMDB because it’s so funny:

Monica: Yeah, and Dad, Chandler didn’t melt your records. Ross did. And Dad, you remember that mailman you got fired? He didn’t steal your playboys, Ross did.
Ross: Yeah, well, Hurricane Gloria didn’t break the porch swing, Monica did.
Monica: Ross hasn’t worked at the museum in a year!
Ross: Monica and Chandler are living together.
Monica: Ross married Rachel in Vegas and got divorced… again!
    Phoebe: I love Jacques Cousteau!
Rachel: I wasn’t supposed to put peas in a trifle.
    Joey: I wanna go!
Judy Geller: That’s a lot of information to get in thirty seconds. All right, Joey, if you wanna leave, just leave. Rachel, no, you weren’t supposed to put peas in the trifle. It did not taste good. Phoebe, I’m sorry, but I think Jacques Cousteau is dead. Monica, why you felt you had to hide the fact that you had an important relationship is beyond me.

    • Tina says:

Love that one too. Especially the mom’s face when she hears it all and says the part of a lot of info for 30 seconds. LOL

  11. my walgreens (okay, ALL the five bajillion of them in SF) have candy corn, indian corn, caramel candy corn, caramel APPLE candy corn, AND autumn mix at the register! And they aren’t even $1, they are FOUR for $3!!! it’s insane.

I love candy corn. People give me so much crap and tell me I’m the only one who likes it. I’m giving them your blog link next time.

  12. YES – The One Where Everyone Finds Out is the BEST episode!!

Friend-ism — oh, there are so many of them! Gum is perfection, You must stop the q-tip when there is resistance!, Ahhhh salmon skin roll, How you doin’?…I could go on and on! Such a good show. It ALWAYS gets me out of a funk 🙂

  13. I have all 10 seasons of friends and I can quote each episode by heart (it’s really kind of sad!). I would say some of my favorite lines to quote is the one when they’re all in Vegas. Ross and Rachel get drunk together and Joey walks in.

“hello, Vegas? Yes we would like some more alcohol, and we would like some more beers.”

“Oh oh Joey’s here! Joey has a duck.”
    “How you doin”
“I’m doin good baby how you doing?”
“Ha… ROSS DON’T LET HER DRINK ANYMORE!”

It gets me EVERY time! Hahaha

  14. megan says:

i love friends! my favorite show of all time. i can quote almost every episode entirely… i’ve clearly taken it too far.

i love : “say goodbye to sore muscles!”
    “GOODBYE MUSCLES!”

but my all time favorite friends quote is:
    “he’s her lobster!”

  15. I bought a bag of candy corn today and I’m enjoying piece after piece as I type this. At the rate I’m going, it appears as though your 800-calorie sugar fate is going to be mine! 😀

The bad luck charm feeling is one I know too well! It seems like my team, the Cal Bears, do much better when I’m not watching. Sorry about Georgia’s loss…hopefully next week will be better!

Many of my favorite Friends moments occur in the Thanksgiving episodes, especially “The One With Chandler in a Box.” 🙂

  16. Jen says:

LOVE Friends! Also love many of the quotes already mentioned, many others that I cannot recall at the moment, AND Phoebe’s song “Smelly Cat!” (“…It’s not your fault.”). 🙂

  17. Candy corn is my only candy weakness. My sisters used to be so annoyed when they’d finish their Halloween candy within a week and I’d still have a full bag a year later.

I don’t have much down time, even thought I don’t have kids. Although, I have one big one at home (aka Rob). Haha. I just can’t seem to keep up with him! Anyway, whenever he’s away on business the only thing I look forward to is catching up on all of my saved “girly” shows which build up on the DVR. I warned him that there are some new ones this season that I’ve already started recording. 😉

  18. […] It looks like a small breakfast, but it was actually really filling and satisfying. That bread is so dense, but still so moist, chewy, and nutty. It’s perfection. As Chandler would say. […]
