I Have No Good Title

Posted: September 16, 2011 at 7:19 pm

Yes, I just titled my post that. Sue me. Frazzled days make it hard to be witty or creative. Apparently they can also make you appreciate the little things in life a lot more readily. After “failing at motherhood” today, I realized how thankful I am for a few things.

Naptime

IMGP9931

There is a bright side to your child missing a morning nap after waking up at 5:40 am. And a bright side to preschool wearing out your toddler. Three hours of unadulterated bliss. No cat piano. No cries. Pure peace and quiet. Thank the sweet heavens for that.

People Who “Get” My Love of Sarcasm

For the record, I don’t truly think I fail at motherhood. I have my moments, but I trust I’m a pretty dang good mom. At the very least, Makenzie doesn’t go screaming and running in the opposite direction when she sees me. I take that as a good sign. Winking smile

Leftovers

IMGP1416-1

IMGP1415-1

I have been the queen of leftovers this past week. Leftover lasagna for lunch on Wednesday. Leftover roasted veggie + pesto sandwich for lunch yesterday. Leftover quinoa for lunch today. Note to self: always make meals with plenty of leftovers.

Excedrin Migraine

IMGP1419-1

If you read my post from earlier you know exactly why I’m thankful for that.

Chocolate in Healthy Snack Form

IMGP1345-1

I had a strong chocolate craving this afternoon. Too bad I realized that we didn’t have any chocolate in it’s purest form around the house. How did I let that happen? When there’s a will, there’s a way, so I found a way to get my chocolate fix.

One container plain Greek yogurt. One teaspoon cocoa powder. A few drops of NuNaturals cocoa bean stevia. A couple handfuls of Cascadian Farms Chocolate O’s.

IMGP1342-1

It may not be a huge chunk of dark chocolate, but it worked. Thumbs up

Speaking of NuNaturals…it’s about time I post the giveaway winners! Drumroll please…

I have emailed the winners, so please check your email if you won and respond to me before Wednesday morning so I can get your shipping information to NuNaturals. Thanks!

  • What is something small you appreciate today?

I’m glad that I was productive today. I’ve finished some of my homework that’s not due til Tuesday! I have a little left, but it will get done before Tuesday! It’s mostly reading (which I am like half done with), and a couple of online postings (1/4 done).

I don’t know what I will be doing this weekend. Probably homework. Hopefully getting to church on Sunday!! Probably sleeping in tomorrow.
I almost went home for the weekend, but decided to wait a couple more weeks.

  2. I hate it when people don’t get my sarcasm. I think because the two of us change between serious and funny witted posts, sometimes ppl can get confused!

And PS – I think a package exchange is a fabulous idea.

Small thing I appreciate today? I know this is petty, but I just appreciate that it’s Friday. I don’t get to sleep in tomorrow or anything (I do my weekly grocery shopping at 5:30 AM to miss the crowds… and yes I’m serious!), but just knowing I don’t have to go to the office makes it all better.

For the weekend I’m trying a new slow-cooker recipe, and I’m taking the boys on our now-traditional Forced March at one of our county parks. There are lovely things there like alligators and stuff that makes Mommy shriek, so needless to say they’re both big fans.

Outside of that and standard exercise? My goal is to be a slug. It might not work out, but we all need a little something to work for… 😉

The weekends aren’t anything too different for me either…but I still love them. Something about the weekend always feels so nice. 🙂

  4. Naptime, naptime, naptime!!!!!!! And Hershey’s Dark Cocoa powder. 🙂 And soon to be thankful for a Diet Dr. Pepper (Although I probably shouldn’t drink it). 🙂
Thanks for your sarcasm Tina. It is truly appreciated! 🙂
Off to wake the boys……….. Have a wonderful night!

  5. jobo says:

That is a GREAT idea for a delish chocolatey treat! I may have to do something similar tonight with my glass of wine…which is what I am appreciating tonight 🙂

  6. Ah naptime. I used to relish in those! They are a thing of the past around here. Enjoy them while they last. 🙂

  7. Something small?? I appreciate the fact that I can email Travis anytime of day and he’ll respond within seconds. He’s a computer programmer, who sits at his desk all day. There have been times (lots) that I need him to pray for me, or talk me through things. I love the fact that he’s “so close”

    • Tina says:

I feel the same with Peter. We will often chat on Google a lot throughout the day and it is so nice that he can be there when I need him for something quickly. 🙂

  8. I love your sarcasm Tina!!

Oh, and L has that same car seat. Doesn’t that thing look comfy? I want one for me!

  9. Congrats to the winners! Haha the nap time pic is so cute 🙂

  10. I took me a little excedrine myself. It looks like we’ve had some things in common today. Mine JUST kicked in, and now I’m hoping I’m not up all night!

  11. Kati says:

Oh nap time, you are an amazing gift from God bestowed to all mothers, often when they need it most!

And I HATE it when I have a chocolate craving but no chocolate 🙁 Way to be creative!

  12. haha! i was uninspired with blog post titles today, too! “friday the 16th” was what i came up with!
glad you got three hours of sanity time, tina!

  13. I’m not grateful for it yet, but I reorganized my pots/pans/baking dish cabinet. I also finished a project for work that’s been looming for a few weeks. Glad to get it off my plate!

  14. lindsay says:

oh yes, thank you preschool! Glad you got some quiet time. I am appreciative for the little bit of rain today. We got a drop, but I’ll take it!

  15. Janetha says:

You’re awesome, Tina. Always looking at the glass half full. Love that. These past few days have been VERY hard for me, but I’m grateful for shoulders to cry on and changes of heart. Have a great weekend! Xo

  16. Amy says:

I appreciate the fact that my fiance doesn’t mind going to see wedding venues with me 🙂

  17. Khushboo says:

I appreciate the fact that even though I am working half day on a Saturday, it’s only during the 2nd time which means I can still sleep in, workout and chill out before heading!

  18. I appreciate another day to live 🙂

  19. I have no doubt of what a wonderful mom you (and Michelle) are!

I’m thankful for a bunch of things today…

    A great early morning workout

Delicious homemade iced coffee and banana blueberry protein pancakes with peanut butter and honey

My best friend taking the train out to spend the weekend with us

Most of all being relatively financially secure and not being in need of food or shelter despite being on the job hunt! (That is a constant blessing I’m thankful for! )

    Have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

  20. Amy Lauren says:

    Your leftovers look yummy.

Today I appreciate little things like the hug my husband gave me before I left to run this morning’s 5K.

Oh and the car seat Mackenzie is in makes it look like she has dumbo ears in that picture, haha.

It’s kind of funny. I become a certified personal trainer and the first workouts I turn to this week come from someone else. The book came in for me at the library last week and, after flipping through it, I couldn’t wait to give the circuits a go. Making The Cut includes a lot of […]
