A Blessing In Disguise

Posted: September 22, 2011 at 12:49 pm

Who has the best blog friends in all of the blogosphere? I do! I do! I cannot express enough how much I enjoy and appreciate the connections we build here. You all have provided some rocking discussion in my last two posts – “Barbie: Yes or No” and my post on developing a blog’s readership – and I love reading it all. So, thanks!! Red heart

I think my lack of workout motivation earlier in the week ended up being a blessing in disguise. I have had two superfantastic workouts in a row now.

Yesterday, I finally got myself to spin class again. Since I had run on Tuesday afternoon, I didn’t want to run again so soon on Wednesday morning. I decided to go to spin instead and it was a fabulous decision!

I think I have been too caught up in trying to work my schedule to attend spin when one of my all-time favorite instructors teaches. That always left me with the option of going Monday night when my motivation drops drastically or on Tuesday mornings when it’s not the best time with Braedon’s napping schedule. Then, I gave in to a different instructor yesterday morning and ended up loving her!

She had just the right attitude I look for – upbeat and supportive, but still knows how to push and motivate the fire out of you. Plus, she chose really great and challenging tracks. I have a feeling I will be running Tuesday afternoons and taking spin class Wednesday mornings more often now. I actually loved the set-up. Yay! Smile

Then, today. Oh, today! This morning I hit up the gym to get my run on before having to head in to my co-hosting duties. (Did you catch that I joined the Dr. Fitness & The Fat Guy radio show for the day? Recap coming later!)

You know my typical relationship with the treadmill. We can act genial with each other but it takes a lot of effort. He’s a “frenemy” to the max. We don’t get along like he and Makenzie.

Mr. Treadmill decided to play nice today, though. I opted for an interval-style workout and loved every sweaty minute of it. It made the time fly and gave me a fun new challenge.

Whew. That will get you where it hurts…but I promise you will feel so good once you finish. I could start singing a different tune about Mr. Treadmill if he continues to treat me this well!

  • What is the last GREAT workout you had?

Wooo somebodys mojo is back and buzzing! I’ve been doing Courtneys pyramid run once a week for the last 2 weeks and it hurts so good 🙂

  2. Lee says:

I might try this tonight…a little slower. I definitely cannot sustain a 9 mile an hour pace!

  3. I don’t think I’ve ever gone above 8.5 on my treadmill, I feel like I might fly off! It’s funny b/c I can run that pace outside if I’m sprinting but it feels so out of control on the treadmill. I love interval workouts on the treadmill like that though, they’re the only way to stay sane on that thing.

  4. Jess says:

LOVE that interval workout, looks like just the right kinda sweatastic workout I can get into when it comes to the dreadmill! He’s a total frenemy of mine too so I’m definitely going to borrow this workout in the future, yes I am! Maybe I’ll even do so while wearing my “I heart Sweat” shirt 🙂

  5. okay, sooo.. when is Mackenzie’s healthy living blog coming out? I’ll be waiting anxiously for her first treadmill HIIT workout. 😉

  6. My last really good workout was this Monday. I did intervals on the elliptical (varying resistance and incline), and left the gym DRENCHED.

  7. I, too, had a date with the treadmill and did intervals. LOVE them so much. It just helps break up the time for me. I like pushing buttons 😉

  8. Makenzie’s little treadmill is so cute!! Love it.

I had a great full body weights workout yesterday – I am so so sore today! It’s such a great feeling!

    • Tina says:

It’s at this playcenter we go to sometimes. It’s so funny that she automatically knew what it was and said “I want to run like mommy” even though I dont think she has ever seen me on a treadmill. LOL

  9. Hahaha…I need a little treadmill like that for my dogs 🙂

  10. Aaah…it feels so good to get your workout mojo back, doesn’t it?! So awesome that you’ve had a rockin few workouts and found a fantastic new spin teacher – that latter one opens more options for scheduling, eh? Coolness!
Love interval sessions – thank you for posting this one, it looks INTENSE! That rocks, getting a good sweat with a really challenging workout – you feel amazing afterwards! <3 That's such a long session there – you go, girl, lol! 😛 xyx

  11. Rachel says:

Oh, I’m so excited. Totally did not feel like working out just a few minutes ago, but with my three babies down for a nap, it’s now or never. Came on here to find some motiviation and this interval workout looks like just the ticket…putting on my shoes now. Thanks!

  12. I don’t know if it was “great great,” but I had one yesterday that was pretty darn good. I’m a bit sore now, actually.

  13. Carissa says:

I don’t know if you would call this a “great” work out, but I have the joy of watching a 2 year old today and discovered this morning that you get a MUCH harder workout doing pushups and planks with a toddler hanging off you! =o)

    • Tina says:

Yea I call it a great workout! I know how tough the toddler addition can be – extra weight and extra balance challenge. 😉

  14. Tina, I love your sneakers! They’re so cute! Where did you get them?

Also love the kiddie treadmill – what a fun idea!

  15. Glad the mojo is back! Haha I had an great bike ride this morning! 🙂

  16. I think I am going to try this too…but maybe too at a slower pace. I get bored on the treadmill as well. Do you have other ideas for training as it is getting colder and darker outside when I have a chance to run. I have to go out and run at 5 A.M. and sometimes that just doesn’t work out! 🙂

  17. It is getting to be treadmill season again huh? I’ve decided to try to keep running outside till it snows here…we will see how that goes. But I have this workout saved for later…thanks for that!

Is that your daughter in some sort of a kiddie gym? I’ve never seen anything like that but it looks amazing!!

  18. Phew! That section of sprints sounds crazy, yet awesome! Great workout, Tina!

    • Tina says:

It’s a playcenter that has a ton of random toys including a little kid gym. She loves it!

I still plan on doing my running outside as much as possible…too bad sometimes the gym is my only option for child care. 😉

  20. Kiah says:

OO, I just did a spin class for the first time in forever! It was exactly the kick in the butt my workout(s) needed. Congrats on getting back into the groove. Sometimes we just need a break to refuel, whether it’s physically, mentally, or both.

  21. I went to my first spin class ever today! It was a bit of a challenge, but I enjoyed the intensity and will definitely be back. Glad you enjoyed it!

  22. […] the biggest smile on my face right now. I had a great day! Not only did I start off with a rocking treadmill interval workout, but I got to do a few new and exciting things today as well. How often do I get the chance to say […]

  23. Awesome treadmilll workout! Thanks for that print button!

  24. Yesterday’s Pilates session was pretty great, but Tuesday’s workout with my trainer was a killer! (I truly believe that he was trying to kill me!) All of that after a fantastic triathlon on Sunday – it’s been a good workout week!

  25. Life Gifts says:

[…] to head off to the gym now for some more treadmill fun. I plan on doing my recent treadmill interval workout again this morning since I had such a good time with it last week. It felt kind of weird printing […]
