Life’s Important Questions

Posted: September 23, 2011 at 1:21 pm

Some days my mind likes to wander to life’s important questions. The meaning of life? My purpose in this world? Am I a good mom/wife/friend? Nah!  I don’t go near that deep on a Friday afternoon. And apparently by Friday afternoon I get hit with a case of the scattered brains. So let’s chat some of life’s other important questions. Like…

Why do the teeny tiniest of paper cuts hurt so flipping bad?

IMGP1555-1

That negligible nick on the tip of my finger has driven me crazy this past week. As much as I type certainly doesn’t help matters either.

How does Chobani do citrus and yogurt together?

Every time I have either pineapple or lemon flavored Chobani I always get slightly weirded out. I  mean, in order to make buttermilk you combine milk and lemon. WHY doesn’t the yogurt get clumpy and funkified when sitting in a container with a dollop of lemon or pineapple? A great mystery to me.

Why does Makenzie insist on dressing in frills almost every other day of the week…but come school picture day I have to pull teeth to get her into a cute outfit?

Although I bet if I let her wear the purple tutu for pictures she would have been all over that.

Why does your own voice always sound so funny when you hear it played back? The recording from yesterday’s radio show is now up on the Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy blog. I had so much fun but it still sounds so weird to me to listen back to it.

If you’re interested, you can catch it here.

Why am I always hungrier on rest days? Seriously. I’m insatiable today! But I will happily go with it. I have no problem eating. Open-mouthed smile

Who would get a 4 handed massage?

4handedmassagesource

I recently received a group coupon deal in my email for a four handed massage. I’m all about massages, but that’s an area where I feel less is more. I don’t really know why, but it just seems borderline kinky.

Why can I only choose one giveaway winner? It’s a bummer, but those are the rules. So without further ado…

  • What “important” question is on your mind today?
  • Do you hate the sound of your own voice, too?

  1. a four handed massage?!?!? I’d have to agree with you- with that, less is more!

  2. Meg says:

I know! I know! Your fingers are one of the top most sensitive parts of your body aka lots of nerves and blood vessels. *yourwelcome*

I just posted a video of my dog but I’m talking to him in my special voice and it’s kind of embarassing but what can you do!

  3. Mellissa says:

The timing of this is funny, I am literally in the middle of doing voice over work on a video at work and I keep listening to it and thinking do I really sound like that?

  4. 1. mackenzie looks precious in that top.
    2. do they use lemon ZEST, maybe? I dunno…
    3. I’ve always heard exercise makes you LESS hungry on the day of.. then, when your metabolism is adjusting to the workout, you’re hungrier (on the rest day). who knows if that’s true, but I’m with ya… rest days are hungry days!

  5. Khushboo says:

More than kinky, the leg of uniformity in 4-handed massages would urk me! Hate listening to myself- the sound if my own voice cringes me out…I feel sorry for those who hv to listen to me Hahah!

  6. Lisa says:

    She looks so CUTE!

I am always hungrier on rest days. It’s insane! Yesterday was a rest day for me and I wanted to eat everything in sight. My stomach was growling so loudly too.

I asked my nutritionist once and she said it was because the body is healing and catching up from the expended calories on the previous days I worked out. She also told me not eat LIGHTER on rest days like I normally do because I need the extra nutrients and food to heal. Which makes sense.

  7. I hate the sound of my own voice. Since Im the only girl in the office, they made me record all the messages for our new automated phone system. I felt so awkward doing it, and cringe every time I have to hear it.

  8. Makenzie is too cute!! I love her outfit 🙂 And I used to be weirded out hearing my own voice recorded but after recording so many sessions with clients I’m kind of used to it!

  9. I just had to record myself giving a presentation for work and it was horrifying to listen to it afterwards. I think I sound like a 10 year old.

  10. That is funny about the citrus chobani. I’ve never thought about. Those are my two fav’s though when I want something more than plain.
I agree about hearing your own voice. It makes me cringe. I always wonder if I will ever post a vlog just for this reason.
My random thought today – why does rainy weather make you so much less productive?? I feel like I’ve been sitting at my desk doing no work all week.

  11. Lauren says:

Sometimes they have the weirdest deals! They had an awesome one today for my area – apple picking + apple cider.
I hate hearing my voice too! I have a project this semester to create a youtube video of a nutrition counseling project, and I’m not too excited to watch myself over and over again.

  12. Aw Makenzie looks adorable!! And I know what you mean about being crazy hungry on rest days- I’m definitely that way too. I cut myself shaving the other day and it’s super small but hurts so bad! And yes I absolutely hate the sound of my voice, I feel like I sound like a little girl!

  13. I get totally weirded out hearing my own voice played back. I don’t ever recognize it and I always think that I sound way more “girlie” than how I hear it coming out. It’s the weirdest thing!

  14. Rebecca says:

I used to hate my voice played back to me, but I’ve kind of gotten over it. It’s still strange, but my mom explained the difference to me once: it’s different because what you hear is your voice echoing inside of your ears or your head or something. You can probably Google it. 🙂

  15. Mandy says:

Ahhh finally making it back to your blog after some crazy crazy 2 weeks. Congrats on the radio show!! How awesome is that?! And M is cute no matter what she wears 🙂

  16. Hearing your own voice over video or audio really is the weirdest thing ever! I don’t get it, but I cringe everytime I hear mine! 🙂

    Happy Friday!

  17. A four handed massage would just be downright creepy! Haha 🙂

  18. Absolutely HATE the sound of my voice when I hear it!!!

  19. Shady says:

My big question of the day is why after a summer of struggling to find the motivation to run am I biting at the bit to hit the road again and can’t thanks to a recently sprained ankle. We always want what we can’t have, don’t we:(

  20. Sydney says:

I absolutely can’t stand the sound of my own voice, I don’t even think it is me when I hear it play back! Congrats on the radio show though that is so cool! 🙂

  21. Brittany says:

I HATE the sound of my voice!! Glad I’m not the only one. I always feel like I sound like a 9 year old or something. Love chobani no matter how they make the yogurt! haha. Sometimes your hunger just catches up to you on rest days 😀

  22. Jessica says:

For one of my psychology class we had to learn the parts of the ear (don’t remember why). But how you hear your voice being played back to you is how others hear it all the time. Your voice you hear just when you are talking sounds different to you because you are hearing it both internally and externally. Or something very close to that, hey it’s been a few years.

  23. Paper cuts and hang nails are the worst. They bug me long than stitches did.

  24. Hrmm I never thought much about those chobani flavors… no I am slightly grossed out lol But that won’t stop me from eating it 🙂

  25. Becky says:

I am not fond of the sound of my voice either – it sounds weird and I don’t know wimpy or something to me 🙂

You however sounded exactly like I imagined 🙂 And I love Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy, so it was really cool to hear you on there.

  26. I would for sure get a massage with 4 hands on me. The more hands = the better a massage!!!

And I hate listening to my own voice. I feel sorry for my students.. and my husband.

  27. I HATE the sound of my voice. I do journalism stuff, and it’s painful to listen to my interviews back. I sound like SUCH a dork all the time. I don’t know how people put up with me haha.

  28. Ick. 4-handed massage? No thanks.

Love me some lemon chobani. I assume they use lemon flavoring without the acid. No?

I think everyone hates their own voice – I’m super nasally, apparently.
