Who Can Get Me Out Of My Pajamas?

Posted: September 30, 2011 at 3:06 pm

I hate those times I feel like I keep wishing away time, but this week I don’t care. I am sooo happy it is finally Friday. This week dragged for me. It’s about time I get the chance to catch up on some sleep. Although I more hope Makenzie catches up on sleep. The “terrible twos” has gone to a new level this week. Love her much, but man can she have an attitude.

Today started off like any other Friday. I took my dear, sweet time getting out of bed because it’s a rest day and proceeded to start my day with breakfast and a cup of coffee. I went for the hot cup of joe this morning.

And I have finally figured out why I prefer iced coffee over hot coffee – I don’t have to brew iced coffee fresh every morning. Iced coffee awaits me in the fridge. Hot coffee does not. I don’t have much patience pre-caffeine. Therefore, iced coffee wins.

After getting some “wake-up drug” into my system and taking care of my motherly duties, I headed off to drop Makenzie off at school. One of my favorite parts of Friday rest days?

I stay in my pajamas until after dropping her off at preschool. Let’s hope neither of her teachers need to call me in for a chat. It could be embarrassing.

I promise I get myself dressed afterwards. Or at the very least, on days I have plans. Today I had special plans.

Told ya I needed a coffee IV today. A side of girlfriend chat was needed too.

Hi Lindsay! You saved me from staying in pajamas all day. Winking smile

Lindsay, from the blog Lindsay’s List, came to Atlanta for the weekend and we knew we had to find time to get together. We could only manage a quick coffee visit between both of our schedules, but I’m so glad we fit it in.

We sat and talked for about 30 or 40 minutes, but could have easily spent way more time together. We connected over so many things – our families, our faith, our love of fitness and blogging…and our husbands even do the same thing! She has plans to come back to Atlanta in December, so hopefully we will have more time together then. I love my blog friends!

I had to jet real fast from our meet-up to pick Makenzie up from school and come home for lunch. Lunch today featured leftovers.

Homemade vegetable lasagna! I impressed myself with this one. (Don’t worry – the recipe is coming your way this weekend. Open-mouthed smile )

I want to eat this for every meal now. Not only because it tastes so flipping good, but also because I don’t want to go grocery shopping right now. I really need to figure out a time I am more motivated to hit the store. I’m done with any sort of to-dos by Friday afternoon and already dislike grocery shopping. It’s like salt in an open wound going Friday afternoon!  Guess my family needs to eat, though…so I’m off. Blahhhhh!

  • What time of the week do you HATE running errands?
  • Do you have a “pajama morning” where you stay in comfy clothes longer?

Something to check out: I find this story really cool - Katie Stagliano is a 13 year old girl who started a movement for kids to garden and grow healthy food to feed those less fortunate. Healthy and helping?! Talk about a girl who knows her gifts! If interested, Everyday Health TV will be airing her story tomorrow on ABC. Check the link for local listings.

PS – No. I was not compensated to share that. Just so we’re clear, disclaimer Nazis.

Ugh, I hear ya. Weekends, especially Friday’s, are rough for running errands. I’m headed to the bank and dry cleaners today right after work, but I think I’m going to stop and get a little treat from the cupcake shop next to the bank for a little motivation! 🙂 Have a great weekend Tina!

  2. Wahh I wish I was in my pjs now!! Saturdays are my lounge days sometimes Sundays too. Since I commute into the city I don’t have much time after work b.c. all I want is food and my bed by the time I’m home the weekends are my errand days and apparently everyone else’s! Maybe you should try shopping on Mondays? Fresh start to the week, I love grocery shopping 🙂

  3. I love nothing better than having a lazy morning and staying in my pajamas for a while but that doesn’t really ever happen unless we go to church on Saturday night (that hasn’t happend in over a year). I work M-F, Saturday we take the dog to the park by 6:30-7am and Sunday we go to early church at 7am to get home and workout by the time football comes on at 10am! I don’t like to skip church, but I do enjoy my Sunday’s of sipping on coffee and catching up on blogs at a slow pace!

  4. I love pj days! But sometimes its good to have an excuse to get outta them 🙂

  5. coffee is my life line! I try to keep it to 1 cup a day while I’m nursing, but I could drink a whole pot…or 2…or more if I let myself 😉

  6. I always wanted to be a nurse because scrubs look so comfy!
You really need a programmable coffee pot so the brew is ready for your when you awaken 🙂

  7. I hate rushing around on Saturday mornings! I get home really late when I work from teaching Jazzercise after work during the week, so I can never make it to the bank, post office, etc., because they are never open when I leave for work and they are closed by the time I get home, so usually, I’m rushing around Sat morning so I can get everything done before they close at noon!

  8. The only day I get a chance to stay in my PJs is Sunday, though I do put them on as soon as I’m home from work. As soon as I’m in from my evening walk, by 6pm I’m in my PJs and ready to get making food for the next day and the nights dinner to choice. 🙂 I’d go to work in them if I could!

  9. I used to love grocery shopping & farmers’ market hopping on Saturdays, but now that football season has started the stores are packed with people stocking up!

pajama days don’t usually happen…but staying in my workout clothes much longer than I should definitely does 🙂

  10. Tina – I had SUCH a great time today! Hate that it was so short – can’t wait until December!! We’re downtown now, about to go walk around and explore the city. Know of any good sushi places?

    • Tina says:

Sorry I just saw this! I hope you found a good place for dinner.

And I had the BEST time. Can’t wait to meet up again in Dec. 🙂

  11. Hilary @ mycraftedlife says:

I weirdly love grocery shopping, unless the store is crowded…then I hate it. On Saturday morning I like to lounge in my pajamas until it becomes necessary to get ready-which sometimes isn’t until the late afternoon;)

  12. There is one weekend a month where I live in my workout clothes for a whole day. It’s just a day where I get dressed to go to the gym and then decide I want to lay around and watch TV all day. I’m 100% okay with it, too!

  13. teresa says:

What a nice day!!! I’m in my pajamas right now! ….considering whether I can wear them to Trader Joe’s.
And that first shot with the caption is too perfect…
Has anyone told you about the “three’s” yet?!
There’s a great book, Your 3 year old, friend or enemy.
    Trust me, you’ll want it.
    pretty sure that’s the title.
    Enjoy your day!

  14. I’m in my loungey clothes right now. Love working from home on Fridays!

The terrible two’s for me was when D was actually 3, probably because boys don’t mature as quickly as girls. They are not fun most of the time!

I hate running errands on Sunday. It always feels like I’m starting work early because I’m busy doing stuff I’d rather not be. But that’s the only time I have, so what am I going to do?

  15. Jen says:

Omg that picture of M is too cute! I hope the terrible two’s stop being so terrible soon!

  16. Kiah says:

    Oh, bloggie friends. The best.

  17. Your son is just adorable! I love when friends get me out of the house. It’s nice!

  18. Kelly says:

That lasagna looks wonderful!!! I can’t wait for the recipe!!

  19. I stayed in my PJ’s until 1:00 today! I was working from home, but still.
Love Lindsay! Glad you had a good time, Tina 🙂

  20. Aww, here’s to hoping Makenzie grows out of her T2’s quickly! I remember my mom telling me horror stories of my older brother around that age, who threw fits everywhere she took him!

  21. Lee says:

You know I’ve never met your kids. I think this needs to change. They are super cute.

I like iced coffee better from Starbucks. It’s not as strong or something.

    • Tina says:

Yea. You do need to meet them! I’m not sure if Peter plans to come with them to the race or not. If not then, then sometime soon for sure.

  22. Haley says:

Haha! On MWF, I take my daughter to school in my pjs b/c I get to come straight home and then get ready for my class at the gym that starts an hour later. However, I must admit, I’m always anxious on these days that (a) I’ll get in an accident and have to GET OUT of my vehicle, and/or (b) my vehicle will breakdown in the car drop-off line and I will TOTALLY embarrass my daughter (and myself) b/c I’ll have to not only get out, but go ask for help! Horrifying!

  23. Lauren says:

I wish I had a pajama morning this morning because waking up was hard…especially for an accounting class. I actually prefer running errands Friday afternoon, so I can relax Saturday or do other things. Same with my long run – I’ve been doing it Wed. afternoon instead of Saturday.

  24. Lauren says:

I was planning on running all kinds of errands tomorrow but now I hear it’s going to be miserable outside. I think I may just nix those errands and stay in my pj’s all day long! Much more sensible.

  25. I looooove staying in my pj’s!! If I could, I would do it every day.

  26. You’re at my fav spot. And I’d LOVE it if a blogger ever wanted to meet up with me. That’s so much fun! 🙂 Glad you two have a blast.

  27. Khushboo says:

If I have no plans on a Sundays, forget mornings–> it’s all about pajama days! Call me grimy but I only end up showering before dinnertime and then change into a fresh pair! I have no guilt/shame about- totally embrace it!

I’m with you on iced coffee>hot coffee! I need my daily iced coffee whereas hot coffee, I can’t even remember the last time I opted for a cup!

  28. I’m definitely lazier on the weekends. During the weekdays, I’m dressed (with makeup on) and have had breakfast by 7AM. On the weekends, it may be noon before I shower. 🙂

It’s kind of funny. I become a certified personal trainer and the first workouts I turn to this week come from someone else. The book came in for me at the library last week and, after flipping through it, I couldn’t wait to give the circuits a go. Making The Cut includes a lot of […]
