This Day Brought To You By CEC

Posted: October 2, 2011 at 4:03 pm

Today was what every Sunday should be about - resting and recharging for the week ahead. I have officially caught up on sleep – 10 hours of sleep last night!! – and once again had a very low-key day. In fact, most of my day was brought to you by the all so fabulous Ms. Clean Eating Chelsey.

A couple weeks ago we both decided to do an impromptu gift exchange because:

a) we both love packages in the mail
b) we love each other a freakish amount (read Chelsey's beautiful tribute)
c) why the heck not?

Friday afternoon I received the mother load of goodies from this fabulous lady and used many of them today – from the nut butter in my pumpkin oats breakfast to a bit of reading during the kiddos’ naps. She knows me well. We’re like one and the same person, so it makes sense. Check out the goods!

First up, some foodie love. I received some new bars to try, Archer Farms nut butter blend (rocks on pumpkin oats!), and Trader Joe’s peanut flour. Oh, how I have longed to try that stuff. I may need some suggestions on how to use it though.

Next, I found goodies to keep me company after a long day – an easy mix to fancify wine for a fruity cocktail and Lindt chocolate. Should it surprise me we sent each other the same bar? No. No it shouldn’t.

And she knows I can use some ways to decompress - with a pumpkin candle and two really good sounding books. I cracked open The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake today. I already love it! Which I should since my most recent reading has consisted solely of muscle talk and tables that make my head spin.

Plus, she sent me the cutest little Halloween socks for the cutest little wee ones. Along with some new headbands to try out.

Lastly, we cannot forget the best part of the package.

I may or may not have opened that bag immediately following that picture.

And Peter & I may or may not have conquered it over the course of the weekend. Ahem. Candy corn = a weak in the knees Tina. I have no shame that my “lunch” yesterday actually consisted of numerous large handfuls of candy corn followed by a 2.5 hour nap for dessert. I call it the long run recovery formula for champions. Hey – it must work seeing as I had zero soreness today! Smile

  • What would you  put in a blogger gift exchange care package?
  • How do you like to use peanut flour?

  1. I love that you guys had an impromptu gift exchange. Packages in the mail are so fun! Enjoy:)

  2. Awwww. I love you, Chelsey, AND mail. This post is so happy. 🙂

  3. Katie @ Raisins&Apples says:

Oh, candy corn! I wish it was sold in smaller packages 🙂

I think the best care packages have something edible, wearable and enjoyable!

  4. Amy Lauren says:

I’d probably send Peanut Butter and Company peanut butter and maybe some luna bars, I like those things.

Candy corn is awesome, we love it too around here!

I’ve never used peanut flour, hopefully you can find some good recipes online though :).

  5. I’ve been dying to try out peanut flour! I’ve seen so many ways to use it…. 🙂

  6. Aw that is so cute that you guys did that!! I did an exchange with Colleen from the lunchbox diaries earlier in the summer and it was so much fun! And I really need to go buy some candy corn, but I’m afraid to because I have a hard time controlling myself with the portions haha.

  7. What a great idea!! Love the gift exchange! AND the candy corn…almost bought some today, but resisted – I can’t be trusted.

  8. Stephany says:

How fun! Now I want to do the same thing with a blog friend. 🙂

I have those headbands and I just LOVE them. They just don’t move. At all! My hair is so fine that headbands are always slipping off but these do the trick. (That sounds like a plug, but it’s not. Ha!)

I think I am the only person in the world who doesn’t understand what’s so great about candy corn. Just a handful makes me feel sick. Just give me some chocolate. 😉

    • Tina says:

I don’t know why I love it so much. I actually used to HATE it. Then I got pregnant with M and became obsessed. Still am apparently. 😉

  9. Erica says:

SO fun! Makes me want to buy some halloween candy…. You must make these: http://www.itzyskitchen.com/2010/09/peanut-butter-flour-chocolate-chip.html

  10. Brittany says:

I tried that Lindt chocolate the first time the other day. It. was. amazing. So creamy and perfect, you will enjoy it! 🙂
I read Heaven is For Real, it was so good. I read it from start to finish in one day, I could not put it down!
Such a great story I absolutely loved it.
I have never tried peanut flour! Good luck with using it 😀

  11. Kiah says:

I love the idea of a blogger gift package! It just goes to show that if ya put the love out there, it’ll come back to you!
I would probably put similar things, as well as a few inspirational quote magnets and family pics–because I love having pictures from friends to put on my desk or fridge.

  12. I’ve been wanting to try that peanut flour too, but am intimidated!

The gift exchange idea is so cute! And how exciting to get so many things that are so perfect for you. Love the socks!

  13. Heaven is for real is an amazing book….you will absolutely love it!
I recently read it and am had several questions about the after life even though I am Christian….and wow – this book calmed all my worries… really – not to sound cheesy but it’s true.

I just did a blog gift exchange….it was SO fun!

    xoxo from Trinidad

    • Tina says:

I think its totaly normal to have questions about death, etc even as a Christian. I know I certainly do so i can’t wait to read this book!

  14. Ela says:

How lovely! Care packages are such a delicious aspect of friendship.

Peanut flour is awesome for baking cookies–can substitute flour completely. I’ve also used it for peanut butter cheesecake mostly instead of straight pb to lighten it up–works great.

Looks like you had some gf bars to try too–way cool.
I’ve actually never tasted candy corn–glad you like it though!
    love
    Ela

  15. I’ve never used peanut flour but I think I need to start!!

  16. How fun of an idea!! I’ve never used peanut flour, but I think I’ve seen it in smoothies to add peanuty flavor without all the oil. Maybe I am making it up. It could be awesome though!

  17. Candy corn for lunch after a long run is PERFECTLY acceptable! Heck, I’ve gotten to the point where I’m using it as fuel during runs 🙂

Peanut flour – you can mix it with water to make a “peanut butter” but it will never be as creamy and tasty as the real deal. I’d use it as a peanut sauce instead in a rice/veggie dish! Darn, now I really wish I had some. Savor it!

  18. Oh my candy corn is such a serious addiction for me.. it is so so good but very difficult for me to keep in the house haha

  19. Whoa! Chelsey knows how to send a gift(sss)! I’ve never used peanut flour, but I’ve always been interested.
You love candy corn as much as I do, Tina!! 🙂

  20. Oh! I need to get in on a package exchange with someone- how fun!!
Peanut flour is the BEST! I use it in all kinds of things- I love it combined with coconut flour in baking (though I’ve never had the TJs brand, and thought they stopped making it).
The best is making a smoothie with 1/4 c peanut flour, a frozen banana and almond milk. It is the most sinfully good smoothie ever!

  21. Denise says:

I think I would read up on the blogger and figure out what she likes – I am a big Tupperware Lover though so I would probably include some.

I have never used peanut flower but Lauren’s smoothing sounds delish!!!

  22. I <3 Candy Corn!!!! Best.Part.Of.Halloween. Oh.Ma.Ga.

  23. Mac says:

A blogger gift exchange sounds like such a fun idea!

  24. Yay for blogger gift exchange!!

I’m really not a fan of candy corn…I’d rather have swedish fish lol.

  25. Lindsay says:

Heaven Is For Real was such a good book. I wasn’t sure what to expect from it, but I got so sucked in that I couldn’t put it down. I started reading it late one night and stayed up until the wee hours finishing it. I was pretty tired the next day, but I don’t regret it. It was an amazing story, and it’s really stuck with me. You’ll love it!

  26. I think I’ve heard of people mixing peanut flour with water/milk and using it as a peanut butter sauce for oatmeal and other stuff. Maybe in an Asian noodle dish?

    Also–peanut butter cookies!

    • Tina says:

I might have to do it in our dinner for tomorrow night. Having a noodle dish that calls for a peanut sauce. I bet it would be perfect for that! 🙂

  27. Khushboo says:

Receiving mail is always fun, even better when it’s from a friend…and even better than that when it’s filled with yummy treats like that! Love how well you guys seem to know each other- the internet is a wonderful thang!

  28. Shannon says:

I just ordered some peanut flour (it hasnt arrived yet, though), and I am so excited to try some recipes I’ve seen in blog world! 🙂

  29. Food Guilt says:

[…] friends! You may recall my not super balanced “lunch” of candy corn that I mentioned over the […]

  30. Jessica says:

Candy corn is my weakness this time of year….so I completely understand the lunch…because I’ve been there!

Love all of the other wonderful goodies, too, though I have no idea how to use peanut flour…

  31. Candy and a nap…What could be better?!?!?

  32. I think you’ll really love reading Heaven is for Real.. I know I really enjoyed it.

  33. awww really good stuff here Tina!! And I’ve heard of Heaven is for Real! I heard that it’s wonderful, and heart warming.

  34. So I’m a bit behind, but I’m SO glad you enjoyed all of your gifts!!
