Front Loaders
Posted: October 14, 2011 at 1:08 pmAfter a good week of recovery work outs – some light recovery runs on the treadmill, not lifting too heavy during weights – I still had a bit of soreness going on when I awoke this morning. Guess Insanity for the first time will do that to a person.
When setting up my workout plan last week, I decided to have Fridays open for a yoga type of class at my gym. I did it all the time when I was pregnant. Flashback:
I remembered it being a good workout to stretch out achy muscles, so I made my way there for this morning’s class. I looked forward to that loosey goosey feeling at the end.
Apparently I only remembered the second half of the class. The first half was all about sun salutations, then holding poses for forrr-evvv-errrr. I hope my legs don’t feel those warrior squats and lunges too much tomorrow. Eeep!!! Luckily I did end the workout feeling perfectly relaxed and stretched.
Besides a yoga filled morning, we have also had a laundry filled morning.
We bought a new front loader washer and dryer last week.
It was quite the saga.
Peter found some for a good deal. He then debated for five days. Finally, he decided it was too good a deal to pass up and bought them. The next day, he continued to shop around after buying them. He found a better deal elsewhere.
What happened next? He bought those. Returned the first ones before they were even delivered. And still looks at washer and dryer prices. I may not understand the man, but I shall not complain. I now have a washer and dryer with more room to stuff clothes into…and new entertainment for the kids.
I shall never complain again about his deal finding ways. It makes mommy happy. It makes the kids happy. And it scored me that two dollar Runner’s World subscription! It may also score me a third washer and dryer set, but I won’t complain. No, wait. I didn’t say that. No more washer and dryers…PLEASE!
Also, notice I said I won’t complain about his deal finding ways. I will still for sure complain about having to fold laundry. Blech. Off to do that now! Have a good one, my friends.
- Do you like yoga? I think I would like it more if taken at a studio instead of my gym’s little class, but it does help the muscles!
- How much do you analyze your purchases and shop around?

I’m just starting my venture into yoga- signed up for a class at my university’s rec centre to keep me accountable. So far, though some of the stretches are uncomfortable at first, I’m finding that I love how it makes me feel right after. Peacefully invigorated, if that makes sense!
Have a great weekend 😀
My hubby is home with our baby Friday’s for most of the day and I leave him little to do lists for when CJ is sleeping. Folding laundry was on there today…we’ll see if it gets done. 😉
Love my front loaders, but had some issues w/ stinky towels and workout clothes. Vinegar has been the answer…in case you have that problem!
I love yoga! I got really into Bikram yoga back in college and my love for it is still here. Since we don’t have any good studios where I live, I try and get myself to do DVDs on my own. It works, but I definitely don’t do as much yoga as I would like too. There are just too many distractions at home!
I also over analyaze the price of stuff if it is a big ticket item like a washer and dryer! Why not when you can end up saving hundreds!!! 🙂
OOOOOO nice!!! My next washer and dryer will be front loaders!
Between running and lower body strength training workouts, my legs are begging for some yoga! I find yoga so boring but I won’t lie: the post-yoga stretch is heavenly!
When shopping for a big appliance like a washer/dryer, TV, etc, our biggest thing to do is to check the price-matching policy to see how long after we purchase said item, can we take in an ad to say “hey, we could have gotten the TV for $100 less at this retailer..” and get the difference. We’ve only done it once, and the price difference was actually at the SAME store we bought the appliance at, but getting the difference was WAY better than returning and re-buying 😉
My husband has an obsession for front loaders. He will scope out all deals for one. That being said, way to go PETER!
I have been wanting front load stackables for ages. I really want to like yoga. With all the running, I need to like it. I just can’t seem to get into it at all.
I can only like it when I go to a class. Otherwise…not happening.
We have front-loaders at school. I’m used to a top-loading washing machine, but I’m finding I kind of like the front-loading better.
Of course, there’s a sign in the laundry room to leave the washers’ doors open so they don’t get moldy and stuff, but there isn’t enough room to leave them open because of the size of the room and proximity to the door. So now there’s a sign to leave them latched but not all the way closed. And there are only two washers and two dryers, so… it can be interesting.
When we make big purchases, we shop around and do a lot of research. Our last purchase was also a new washer and dryer. I figure they cost a lot and I am stuck with them for a very long time, if we are lucky:)
Honestly, I analyze most purchases. Even things like a new workout shirt or shorts. Yeah, I’ve been stalking some sale workout clothes at Target to see when they mark them down. I’ve also been shopping around for K-cups for my new Keurig because I know they can get expensive, too. So yeah, a big purchase, I would definitely be doing my research AND shopping around for the best price! Because honestly, if the item isn’t the best for your money, you are wasting money even if it’s a little bit, you know?
It’s so incredible Peter got you that magazine. Because it was super thrifty AND it made him think of you :).
Those babies are a thing of beauty. I miss my front loader washer and dryer so much. We had them in our previous house but don’t in this one. Every home depot trip, I end up in the appliance section lusting over them but can’t bring myself to replace the 2 new ones we have just b/c they aren’t front loading.
I hate yoga! I have tried so many times to want to like it but I just don’t. So I refuse to force myself to do something that I truly hate.
As for purchases I hate to shop around. I am a buy what I find when I find it type of a girl. Keith HATES that about me and is the complete opposite. So he usually ends up just doing all the research and then when he is ready to purchase THEN and ONLY then does he show me. Once he shows me I am ready to go it right then! haha!
No yoga in my town. :-/ I’m very envious.
My Dad built he and my mom a cabin a few years ago. When it came to appliances they went to Lowe’s and picked out what they liked and always asked if they could buy the floor model. They saved about $200 each on washer, dryer, oven, and refrigerator. This past weekend he had to buy a new chest freezer and bought the floor model that was dented for $56 less. When it comes time for me to buy appliances, I’m definitely buying floor models. 🙂
Last year, I tried a local yoga class. After 5-6 times I stopped going. It was sooo boring! Lots of breathing, relaxing, meditating, and only very few asanas, that where constantly interrupted by savasana.
That kind of yoga is not my cup of tea. I think I prefer Pilates.
I like yoga! I would love to do more 🙂
For me, there’s nothing better than yoga for my muscles, especially when I was running consistently. I’m lucky to serve as my studio’s “karma yogi” – for some admin help and social media knowledge, I get to enjoy yoga in return.
That’s such a nice deal since yoga gets so expensive!
Good for you for going to yoga! It’s been forever and a day since I’ve been.
Love the front loader! Shane’s a deal hunter like that too. But good for Peter for finding a better deal! haha 🙂
I like doing yoga a lot but I’m too embarrassed to take classes so I just do dvd’s at home 🙂 I did it a lot while I was pregnant, mostly just to stretch.
I shop around a bit before a big purchase, but once I make it then that’s it! I don’t want to know if I missed out on a better deal elsewhere! Also, I love yoga, but I have to do it after a run because I just don’t feel like I’ve gotten a workout if I don’t get my heart pumping! I get all antsy if I don’t get that energy out!
I always shop around for the best deal! One of my tricks is plugging the specific item into google, hitting the “shopping” tab, and sorting by “lowest price + shipping first”.
haha, I love the washer/dryer anecdote. Grocery trips take me forr evv err (almost as long as holding downward dog!) because I have to compare each brand’s price. It helps our savings, but kill’s my husbands patience 🙂
P.S. I’m with ya on the yoga! I took all of my health students (first year college students) to a yoga class, and some of the buff football players were dying!
I don’t shop around…I get bored with it….I just buy the first one I like and can afford and hope I made the right decision!
I love front loaders! I want to watch them wash my clothes! I know, I’m such a dork.
I knew I was a “real” adult when I got ridiculously excited about my front loading washer/dryer. 🙂
Haha! Love that comparison!
My brothers are the same way! They are always looking for good deals and I know they have bought and returned things many times! I really enjoy how yoga stretches me out but I always seem to find a hard time finding time for it.
Hahaha! My husband does the same thing, and so does my dad: they buy something, then keep looking around for a better deal.
Men.
What a nice set of laundry machines! I think those would be too tall for my cats to eat and sleep on, hmm? Ha (Aka our cats eat their food on our dryer and they sleep in their bed that is on top of our washing machine 🙂 They’re spoiled cats. Wow, Love a good bargain!
[…] I’m in love. Things got a little “spendy” around here with the phones and clothes and new washer/dryer, but it fit the “fun money” budget, so it works. It may not look it, but we’re very mindful […]
