The Best Of Both Worlds

Posted: October 16, 2011 at 4:31 pm

Thank you all so much for the congrats on my 15K race yesterday! I had a blast! Both during the run…and after too, of course. How could I not when it involved eating? And coffee. Can’t forget the coffee.

IMGP2149-1

After the race, Lee and I wanted to have more time to hang out together, so we hit up J. Christopher’s for brunch.

IMGP2148-1

I had never been to J. Christopher’s before, even though it has quite a few locations around the Atlanta area. It had a fun, laid-back atmosphere perfect for some post-race dining.

IMGP2150-1

It also had a menu with quite a few delicious sounding options. I couldn’t make up my mind between two particular choices –  an omelet or pancakes. Luckily, I subbed out the muffin struck up a deal with the waitress and managed to get the best of both worlds.

IMGP2153-1

I ordered the Billy Goat omelet, which featured a combination of goat cheese, roasted red peppers, and mushrooms. And oh how I appreciated an omelet that didn’t come out loaded down in grease!

IMGP2151-1

Then had a large, delicious pumpkin pancake on the side. It could have had a bit more pumpkin flavor, but you better believe I still happily ate that sucker up!

IMGP2152-1

I mean c’mon! Does that not sound like the perfect meal for me? Or what? Goat cheese and pumpkin?! I was clearly a happy Tina. Open-mouthed smile

Speaking of happy Tina, time for one of my favorite parts of the week! Enjoy, friends!

  1. That breakfast looks delicious! A perfect meal combo for me would be anything with Goat cheese and chocolate..maybe not together but I love them both SO much!

  2. Hilary says:

Best of both worlds for me is some kind of sweet and salty. I kinda did this Friday for breakfast: ham/egg/cheese breakfast sandwich and fruit/cafe mocha. Your combo looks pretty tasty too though!

  3. Jess @ Jess Go Bananas says:

I still cannot believe that you had a baby only 9 months ago! You look fabulous! 😀

  4. I would love to be able to eat that omelet AND the pumpkin pancake – that really is quite the deal! Good races deserve it 🙂

  5. I hate when you have a few favs on a menu or a few new things you want to try. I either try and persuade who ever I’m with to order the other and share or try and work my magic on the waiter/waitress and get two half portions!
Favourite cheese…got to be goats cheese! Just made a yummy goats cheese and grilled peach pizza, absolute heaven on a plate! 🙂

  6. Hmmm that pumpkin hot chocolate sounds soo good right now 🙂

  7. Lauren says:

“goat cheese and pumpkin makes a happy Tina.” haha, totally something I would say. 🙂

  8. Rebecca says:

My roommates (+ a boyfriend) and I went to Perkins for lunch today, and the other two girls split an order of pancakes and omelet. 🙂

  9. I love that you got the pancake too! My biggest breakfast dilemma is always pancakes/waffles or eggs. How did I not think to get both?!!

I’m a little late but congrats on the race 🙂

  10. I always have the same “eggs or pancakes?” problem when I eat breakfast places. I usually opt for both, too 🙂

  11. Brittany says:

I think your meal pretty much sums up my favorite meal. Anything “sweet and salty” combo has my name written all over it! 🙂

  12. Katherine says:

    LOVE J Christophers!!

  13. I love salty and sweet. At Christmas, I always make peppermint white chocolate poporn. YUM! I only make it once a year because it is sooo bad but sooo good.

  14. Hmmm…best of both worlds is sweet and salty. Toast with jelly and eggs and hot sauce and cheddar cheese….YUM!

  15. I have never had an omelette with goat cheese. I want one right now, it looks amazing!

  16. Oh my gosh thank you so much Tina! I’m so honored!:)

  17. chocoalte + pumpkin…

and ps – I must hear more about the reply you wrote to me about peter encouraging you to do crazy things.

  18. My best of both worlds meal would be nigiri sushi and chips & salsa! Haha!

  19. pumpkin hot chocolate?!?! omg that omelet also looks delicious…there is almost nothing better than goat cheese in an omelet…well maybe feta…but I’ll take either cheese anyday!

I love sweet and savrory (like most!) one of my favorite snacks growing up that I crave every now and then is crisp green apple with chedder cheese. The sharp cheese and sweet but sour apple is AMAZING

  20. Keri says:

I went to j. Christopher’s last saturday ( the one near cheesecake factory) and had the exact same meal! Great minds think alike they say;)

  21. Heidi says:

I LOVE J. Christopher’s! You should try their blueberry crunchcakes if you get the chance 🙂

  22. Khushboo says:

That does look like the perfect combo! My dinner combo was pretty excellent (and similar to yours) too: mushroom+goat cheese omelet with a side of toast topped with pb+j and a side of chopped raw courgettes w salsa…totally random but it nailed every craving 🙂

  23. STUFT Mama says:

Eeeekkk!! I’m a little late to congratulate you! Sorry. Soo happy for you and your 15k. 🙂 Yay! So glad you got to celebrate with some yummy food too!
I’ve never had an omelet with goat cheese either. Actually, I can’t remember the last time I had goat cheese. Guess I need to try it. 🙂

  24. Cynthia says:

I LOVE J Christopher’s. Yesterday I tried their pumpkin pancakes for the first time (along with their pumpkin latte). I agree that they could have added a little extra pumpkin flavor, but I still enjoyed them. You should try their biscuits. They are awesome.

Also, they have comment cards on the tables. If you fill it out, they will add you to their mailing list and send you coupons from time to time. And I know how much you like a good deal! 🙂

  25. Amy Lauren says:

That pumpkin pancake looks super tasty and so does the omelet :). Glad you had a good brunch with your friend!

  26. RunEatRepeat says:

Hi! I missed the shout out because I was on a cruise!!! Thanks 🙂
