Play Dates & Lunch Dates

Posted: May 5, 2010 at 2:05 pm

Thank you everyone for your kind comments yesterday. I have full faith that things will work out perfectly. God knows what is best and I want His plans to happen since I know they will be the most fulfilling. I look forward to all the future has in store for me because I know there will be great things to come. That won’t keep me from wishing and praying He works it out sooner than later though! God is my dear friend, so I know I can joke with Him about how He is managing things and that He gets me and all the faith that is truly in my heart. Thank you for helping me keep that faith grounded and strong.

Today has been jam packed and I am very thankful for that. As I’ve mentioned before, this week tends to have me going back on forth between various thoughts and emotions; so the best thing to keep me stable is distraction. Today I have had plenty to distract me. Tomorrow and Saturday I will have even more distraction. This week’s super filled scheduled could not have come at a better time.

Today started off with a bowl of Cheerios + dried pineapple + unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze to fuel for spin class at the gym.

P1140133

It was delicious and helped me get through another great workout for my current needs. I love how easy it is to adapt spin classes to more or less intensity.

After class, I got cleaned up because I had to leave straight from the gym to go to a playdate with the mommy group. Question = how can I get so incredibly nasty sweaty in spin classes? It’s gross. I always sweat a lot but spinning brings it to a whole new level. Needless to say, I am very happy to hear rumors out there that the more you sweat, the fitter you are.

Once I was presentable and didn’t look like Mark Richt after being doused with Powerade (because us Dawgs don’t drink Gatorade)…

…we were off to the park for some playtime with friends. Any guesses where we spent most of our time at the park??

P1140148 P1140144

Aren’t you a genius?? Or just observant that Makenzie is addicted to the swings recently. I did manage to pull her away to do other things for part of the time we were there.

P1140154 P1140150 P1140152

Playing the musical ball things, looking at “flowers”, and climbing a wooden “choo choo” are all entertaining in case you ever get bored. 😉

We only stayed an hour because this mom was getting to the point of hangry and in need of some grub. Lucky for me I had a lunch date planned with the hubs since the playground was less than 5 minutes from his office. Yay! I love lunch dates. They seem so special because they are out of the ordinary. They even more special when they include the best wrap you have ever eaten. Ever. Like, in your entire life ever.

P1140166

We hit up Tacone Flavor Grill, which is a wrap, sandwich, and salad hotspot for lunch that my husband always raves about and has caused jealousy on my part for quite some time.

P1140155

When I looked at the menu, I knew immediately what I would be ordering. It all looked so good, but the Perfect 10 just called to me.

P1140156

It did, in fact, sound perfect.  So I placed my order and then took a seat amidst all the cute decor. Love this message they have all over their walls…

P1140164

Then…it arrived. A wrap so flavorful, so delicious, and so big alongside a just-right coleslaw.

P1140174

P1140173

Avocado, rice, beans, peppers, onions, cabbage, salsa, cilantro, and a smidge of cilantro ranch sauce all wrapped up in a wheat tortilla. Then the cool, crips, peppery, but not too oily/mayoinnasey cole-slaw alongside.

P1140175

I finished perfectly satisfied. Which reminds me – stay tuned for an intuitive eating post tonight on feeling your fullness, something I sure did.

P1140178

This meal Made. My. Day.Or I guess I should say second to spending my lunch with the most wonderful man on the planet. Go ahead and say it. “Awwwww”.

  • What is the best lunch you’ve ever had? Or what makes a perfect lunch for you?
  • Do you prefer lunch dates or dinner dates with a significant other, close friend, etc?

We have very similar food tastes, I would have totally gotten that. I bet that cilantro ranch was awesome!

Hmm, my favorite lunch (or dinner) is at the beach. I love getting crab cakes and crab bisque…so creamy and delicious!

  2. Therese says:

I heard that too about sweating more the the more fit you are. Judging by the buckets of sweat I spewed out this morning I must be fit?

You would be lucky to have Gatorade poured all over your snotty coach 😉

    • Tina says:

Hahaha! As much as I know I could never root for UF…I do enjoy the rivalry. I don’t hate the team or the fans. I love the fun in it all. Like the kind we have 🙂

  3. yum! that burrito looks sooo good! for lunch, there’s nothing that tastes better to me than something fresh! whether its FRESH vegetables, FRESH fruit, FRESH fish, or FRESH bread 🙂

  4. lisaou11 says:

I cant wait to read your new intuitive post! I think lunch dates are always fun—great way to break up the day (esp if its a work day)

  5. I sweat like a man. For real.

  6. That wrap….WOW! I love things that are filling like that, but they’re full of veggies and good things. I love all that fiber. 🙂

Can’t wait to read your post later on fullness! I definitely am uncomfortable feeling full at times. And then other times, I have trouble with getting TOO uncomfortably full!

  7. Sounds like a great day! I hear you on the spin sweat factor too. I love having a picnic lunch with my husband – we’ve been doing this lately on the weekend after a run near the river. It really gives you something to look forward to. I enjoy lunch dates with friends but dinner date with hubby.

  8. lowandbhold says:

I love lunch dates. I’m a homebody and prefer to be home early at night. Gosh, I’m lame.

But that wrap seriously sounds FANTASTIC!

  9. homecookedem says:

I’ve been there before!!!!! I think I got the veggie wrap and their sweet potato chips… SO GOOD!! It’s funny b/c I ALMOST suggested that you and I meet up there!! Hehe, anyway, so glad you had a nice lunch date with your hubby!! 🙂

  10. Hayley says:

YUMM-O with a capital O! For some odd reason wraps like this are my absolute favorite! I find myself feeling guilty at times when I choose something like that over a salad, but when you crave something like that nothing comes close. Which brings me to your mentioning intuitive eating – I can’t wait to read more about that! I have the book myself and have read it twice…but still find it difficult to put the principles into practice sometimes (especially the fullness part!) Glad you had such a nice day!

I love lunch dates with my husband because they NEVER happen! He’s a doctor so he rarely gets time to eat himself let alone go anywhere, so if we have had lunch together it’s because I’ve gone to wherever he’s working. Of course I love getting together with friends, too – so that is a toss-up! 🙂

  11. Sarah says:

Yum! Your lunch looks delicious! A perfect lunch for me is beautiful weather, fresh food (whether or not I prepare it- if I go out, I like to eat at local cafes) with someone I can just relax and laugh and be honest with.
I like lunch OR dinner dates as long as the food and company is good:).

  12. Carla says:

How fun! I love popping out for lunch with my hubby.

And I hope you don’t mind my saying – you are SO pretty! 🙂

  13. Kelly says:

I feel absolutely blessed that my husband and I get to eat lunch and dinner together every single day. It makes me happy…and I honestly think I like the lunch hour more! 🙂

  14. sunny says:

that wrap looks and sounds AMAZING..def something i would order!

i think lunch and dinner dates are both good as long as you have some good company to enjoy them with! lol..

oh and love the pics of miss m and you as usual..you are so pretty tina bina!

  15. inmytummy says:

I eat a tofu salad from Willy’s at least once every two weeks and it is always so good.

  16. eatspinlive says:

oh my goodness girl! your wrap looks DELICIOUS 🙂 I love dinner dates with my boyfriend or eating dinner with my entire family! Both are perfect!

  17. I have the hardest time getting chilluns out of those swings at the park! when I babysit and try not to manhandle other people’s children, it’s a struggle. They are the best form of entertainment, though. yay for outdoor play time!

  18. That wrap sounds SO good! The cilantro sounds really good in it. But then again, I love cilantro in everything!
Glad things are starting to look up for you! It’s so hard to trust that Lord knows what’s best for us when things seem to not be going like we’d like… but you just have to have faith. I’m having a hard time right now with that too. Not just with my injury but some other stuff.. but I’m trying to stop worrying and just it be.

  19. Katie says:

My favorite lunch date is also with my hubby…or one of my sisters! )

woo-hoo…i’m excited for the next intuitive eating post! (write a book i tell ya!!!)

  20. lessonstolearn says:

That does look like the best wrap ever! Sounds like a really fun day. Well earned after a rough start to the week!
