you know it

Posted: August 24, 2010 at 6:00 pm

You know you’re sick when…you actually feel like a nap. I don’t nap. I just can’t and usually if I do, I wake up feeling worse. I napped today. It wasn’t for long, but it helped confirm that my increasing aches, tiredness, and coughs mean I’m sick. Dagnabit.

You know you’re pregnant when…coughing makes you have to pee. I had to run to the bathroom today too many times to count. And I will also admit more than I probably should – panties had to be changed after one particular coughing fit. Nothing serious, mind you, but still. Be for real pregnant bladder!

You know you’re in love when…you still want to kiss this little face. Snot, tears, and all.

IMGP6347

You know you’re smart when…you give your body the rest it needs, despite hankering for a good workout. Now that woman who stole my spin bike yesterday morning better watch out! I’ll go Ninja Tina on her if she pulls something like that ever again.

You know you’re a procastinator when…you have nothing on the schedule and are at home all day, yet still don’t do anything productive. Oh, wait. I take that back. I did put away laundry and write an Examiner article. Please CLICK!

You know you’re a mom when…you can read The Hungry Caterpillar 387 times in a row and say “okay” when she says “again” once more.

You know you’re a blogger when…you can still find something to talk about after a day like that. 😉

I’m off to continue the laziness and chill on opposite ends of the room with my sister for her weekly visit. I hope I don’t get her sick! If she does get sick I can just blame M. After all, she had to kiss that snotty face too. Have a fabulous night!!!

  3. Get Well Soon, Beautiful!

I am SOOOO bad with my Examiner articles, I haven’t written one in months…ughhhhh.

Rest up….tea with lots of ginger root and lemon, heals me every time 🙂

    • Tina says:

It’s hard to be motivated to write them when they don’t make you anything! LOL I’m sure you can relate. Really the only reason I do it is to stay up to date being published for other writing possibilities.

  4. This post was so cute! 🙂

I was sick today as well. I hope you feel better soon! Spin bike stealing gym lady better watch out once you are!!

  9. homecookedem says:

You know you’re a pregnant teacher when you come to school with a huge bag of breakfast, lunch, and lots of snacks packed, a big water bottle (that is refilled at least once), and you have to ask teachers to constantly come out in the hall to watch your class while you waddle down the hall to go to the bathroom for the 50th time of the day!!

    Get well soon!! 🙂

    • Tina says:

Oh boy do I remember that!!! And I remember it being harder to pack snacks. You never know what you’re going to want! I think I actually hit up the vending machine a few times when pregnant with M and working because I just did NOT want to eat my yogurt or whatever.

  10. Oh no! Being sick during the summer is no fun at all… ugh!

But I do have to say- I love that the Hungry Caterpillar is still so popular! I think when I was little it was read in my house a million times…

  11. Lee says:

Man, I love naps. I take a nap every weekend!

    I hope you feel better.

  12. Hey sweetie – hope you’re not getting sick. I am totally with you on the naps. It takes me forever to even fall asleep then I’m a total grump when I wake up.

  13. I love that book. I still read it a million times 😉

  14. I’m so sorry your not feeling well! I absolutely love the hungry caterpillar! It was one of my favorite books when I was little and I must have read it to my youngest brother a million times!

You know your a workout aholic when your most expensive outfit involves under armour and nike instead of Neiman Marcus and Saks!

    • Tina says:

Haha! I can relate. I don’t like shopping. At all. Unless it’s for new workout gear. Then I’m unstoppable.

  15. I hope you feel better!

My niece and nephew were just staying with us and I know what you mean about reading the same book over and over again. I think I read “The Giving Tree” a million times in 3 days. 🙂

  16. Heather says:

sorry you are not feeling well! I too usually feel worse after a nap!

  17. Angelia Sims says:

Oh goodness, I thought I was the only bad napper. I can’t stand naps. I wake up wanting to chew metal into nails. It just doesn’t do me any good.

What a sweet, beautiful face. It is love when you share those germs. Hope you get well soon!

  18. Morgan says:

you know you’re pregnant when you go through water and underwear like it’s going out of style, and your idea of a fun activity is washing and folding new baby clothes!
    I hope you feel better!

    • Tina says:

Check, check, check! I’m so ready to know if I will be rewashing and folding M’s old baby clothes…or new things for a boy. GAH! 26 HOURS!!!

  19. You know you’re a food writer when the best part of a reception is the free food.

    Feel better soon.

  20. Camille says:

You know you’re a distance runner when your toenail falls off and your response is, “Finally!”
    🙂

    • Tina says:

That right there is awesome! Love your response. I’ve never shared the experience but its so hardcore. 😀

  21. I hope you get to feeling better soon Tina!

  22. Aww, Tina I’m so sorry you’re not feeling well! I’m the same way–I KNOW I’m sick when I want to nap. I NEVER take naps, unless my body is fighting something.

Mackenzie is such a darling! SO cute!

Rest up, and get better soon! I’m sending healthy vibes your way! <3

  23. You know you’re a teacher when you get excited about buying new post-its and colored pens.

  24. Becky says:

You know you’re a teacher when you never go to work….you always go to school. I’m getting the blues. It’s back-to-school time again!

Hope you and M feel better soon. Rest, rest, rest!

    • Tina says:

The first weeks are always the roughest too. This time of year always stressed me out so much when I was teaching.

  25. Kristy says:

So Cute! Thanks for the smiles and giggles!

  26. Monique says:

Awww, feel better! I work overnights. So sometimes when I am not scheduled to go into work, I have to take a nap! And yes, sometimes I do wake up feeling worse at times!

  27. Nichole says:

Coughing makes you have to pee?! OMG, I’m screwed, lol.

FEEL better and get your rest!

    • Tina says:

  28. Aww I hope you feel better soon!

  29. Aw, feel better soon!!

You know you need to get out of the house when: you begin to have intricate, hour long conversations with your dog. 😉

  30. I hope you feel better soon! I always feel for people who can’t nap. I’m a napper from way back when. 😉

You know you have cabin fever when you beg people to come walk with you. I’ve turned into my dog a few times. 😉

  31. Lindsay says:

Boo Tina. I’m sorry you’re feeling bad. I’m not a napper either, so something is definitely off when I do. Feel better girlie!

  32. Aww I hope you feel better soon! I love taking naps in the afternoon, although I didn’t let myself have many when I was in university because I always felt like I had too much work to do. I’m thinking about having one right now actually….. 🙂
    Rest up!
