typical

Posted: September 24, 2010 at 1:20 pm

Would you like to know how a typical morning/early afternoon goes for me? Let me walk you through it. My mind and my world can be a very weird place sometimes. 😉

5:33 am – Alarm goes off and I hit snooze.
5:43 am – Snooze goes off. I stretch and roll out of bed. Make my way downstairs. Boy, would a cup of coffee be nice right now! But, heck, I don’t feel like making it and don’t even know if we have coffee. I kind of give up on it when all I can have is decaf.

5:50 am – Settle in to read my Bible and pray.
6:15 am – Catch up on emails, let my mind start turning for the 30 Days post of the morning.
6:50 am – Crank out 30 Days post. Thank goodness I decided to do things my style. Sooo much easier to write now!
7:15 am – Schedule post. Read a couple blogs before M wakes up at 7:30. She isn’t always this cute.

7:30 am – Madness ensues. Get both M and I up and dressed. Battle the Ms. Independent child who shouts “self! self!” for everything from putting on her clothes to turning off her sound machine.
8:00 am – Make breakfast. Sweet, heavenly breakfast.

**pumpkin pancakes made with 1/2 c blended oats, 1/2c pumpkin, 1/2 scoop cinnamon protein powder, 1 egg – then topped with maple almond butter and syrup**

8:20 am – Bring breakfast into the bathroom so M can potty. Consume breakfast while sitting on the bathroom floor, knowing full well the child will neither poop nor pee.
8:35 am – I was right. Leave the bathroom and go in playroom. Practice singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and the ABCs. Read piles of books. When Ms. Independent is over playing with Mommy, do a bit more sporadic blog reading on the netbook sitting next to her.
10:00 am – Oh dang!!! It’s 10 already? Grab yoga mat, transfer  things from purse to gym bag, fill water bottle and milk sippy. Fight to get shoes on my precious daughter. Try to keep calm when temper tantrum ensues.
10:30 am – Ahhh….yoga!!
10:50 am – My golly this class is tough today. Wait…did she just say MORE sun salutations?
11:00 am – MORE warriors and crescent lunges???!!!!

11:15 am – Hip openers, how I love you.
11:25 am – Savasana…you rock!!! Can I stay here forever. Ha. Keep dreaming.
11:45 am – Arrive home. Shower with Ms. Independent to avoid massive catastrophe in that 15 minute span. Feel endeared when she says “Mommy, look! I copy Mommy!” and mimics me shaving my legs.
12:00 pm – Get out. Dry off. Get dressed in comfy clothes. Head downstairs to make lunch. Hmm..the panini press and griddler is still out. I think I’ll make paninis! Don’t even have to clean the plates. Just switch them out and call it good. 😀

12:20 pm – Devour lunch. Swiss cheese, toasted pine nut hummus, tomatoes, and pickles on whole wheat. With an apple on the side. Typical lunch. Delicious lunch. Although, I did mutter a few grumblings about the alternate-universe-farmer’s-market that has caused a serious lack of produce in this house.
12:40 pm – Put M down for nap. Type this. And…here we are! 😀

The remainder of my day will include biting my tongue while trying to help my Dad set up a political blog he wants to start. Then, heading out to my friend’s rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Look for a post tonight on how I manage not to overindulge when out at social events. Happy Friday! Love to each of you.

  • What are some typical parts of your day?
  • Anything exciting going on this weekend? My weekend = wedding, wedding, and more wedding. Oh…and a Chuck E Cheese birthday party. Should be interesting.

  6. I only drink decaf when I want (yes, I try not to drink when I feel like I NEED it) coffee, totally diagreeing with the warm brown water thing, but funny!

  8. i don’t know why but this may be one of my all-time favorite posts you’ve done! hysterical, upbeat, real, loving, and so totally YOU. i just love it. 🙂 you have a lot on your plate, busy lady!

  9. I’m still stuck back up at the protein pancakes! Could you use just an egg white do you think?

Mon-Fri my mornings are very typical (unless I workout first). But, basically I leave my house at 6:52 to get to my office by 7am. I turn on the computer and my lamps. Start the web browse, email, etc. then go unload my bag ‘o food in the fridge. Start the coffee, and start my oatmeal. It is down to a very precise science for me 😉

  10. i’m SO glad i’m not the only lover of the snooze! every once and a while, i guess it’s ok to hit it more than once…

  11. Brittney says:

I’ve actually been thinking about doing a “day in the life” post for a while! I need to!
I love the decaf pic- too funny!
My excitement for the weekend involves going to Oktoberfest where I will most surely drink enough beer to be silly within- oh 45 minutes. Me = low tolerance.

    • Tina says:

Sounds like fun!!!! I love Oktoberfest in a local town here. I don’t know how much I will love it this year though. LOL

  12. Meghan says:

This post made my Friday. So funny. I love M being “over” playing with you! Cracked me up.

  13. Manon says:

Aren’t panini press’ the most A-MAZING thing EVER?!?!?! I use mine all the time, even for PB&J 🙂

  14. Eliza says:

Ha! I can tell that I’m deep into the baby-crazy stage of my life because I actually felt jealous reading about your day!
(also, my partner had two baby patients today and just spent awhile imitating their cute baby sneezes/pulling on his stethoscope. my ovaries, they ache.)

  15. Lori says:

Those pancakes look amazing. Seriously. YUM.

I have such routine each day… at least during the week. Breaking from that routine kind of throws my day off. lol It’s weird. I like reading about your day though! It’s fun to live someone else’s life for a day. 🙂

This weekend I’m going to South Lake Tahoe and while I’m there, I’m meeting another blogger! I can’t wait!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  16. Kat says:

What a busy day!! I am not a mommy, so mine doesnt even come close 🙂
Those pancakes do look fabulous though, I make chocolate chip pancakes for my hubby all the time 🙂

  17. I love posts like this. I find it so interesting to see what other people do all day long. My day looks like this:

6:00 am: Alarm goes off – ignore it
6:05 am: Second alarm goes off. Get up and turn it off. Turn the light on and go back to bed.
6:07: Get up. Turn on coffee maker.
6:10: Shower – get ready for work, eat breakfast.
7:20: Go to work – sit for 8 hours
5:05 pm: Get home, change, go for a run.
6:00: Cook dinner, eat, then get lunch and breakfast ready for tomorrow.
    8:00: Watch tv
9:00: Walk dog and then go to bed.

Yah – my life is exciting. 🙂

  18. Maryea @ Happy Healthy Mama says:

I can so relate to the “self self!”. I hear that a lot these days as well. 🙂

  19. My morning is total craziness led by work then total craziness…that about sums it up! Have fun tonight!

  20. I love your definition of decaf- ha ha. I went home once and the only coffee they had in the house was decaf. I threw a mini tantrum and was like “what good is this??!?!! All it does is make your teeth brown!” I’m a brat sometimes…

    Enjoy the wedding weekend! 🙂

  21. I usually have the same “path” to bedtime…do something relaxing like blog, take a bath, chill with my hubby and dog…eat some cereal, wash my face/brush my teeth, read for a minute, play on my iPhone, turn out the lights! :> And then lately, toss and turn throughout the night :/
