no eating allowed!

FFF Featured Blogger: The Active EggplantI had to give Theresa a special shout out since she shares birthdays with little M! 😀 Plus, she kicks butt at training and workouts. Check out her post today for a good recap of her awesomeness.

Makenzie says thank you for all her birthday wishes. 🙂 I still cannot believe it has been two years! Time really does fly. Did you know that today also marks 9 months since I have been blogging? In some ways, it feels like it has been longer than that…and in other ways it also went by in the blink of an eye. The 21st remains a popular date for me, since my official due date falls on my one year blog birthday – January 21st! Exactly three months from today.

I really hope I don’t go the full three months, however. That date is based off my first ultrasound and is actually about a week off when I know I ovulated and when the midwives believe I could deliver. I’m all for having only around 2.5 months left! Especially if things continue looking well.

I had my 7 month check-up today. What a fun one. The 7 month appointment includes the blood glucose test to screen for gestational diabetes. That entails a fasting period and a nasty sugar beverage to down before my appointment. This morning, I had a typical bowl of oats for breakfast and then followed it up with a Turbo Jam workout since I knew I would have no energy for it when starved later.

IMGP7990

I also wanted to try to work up an appetite since I had to be sure to eat a small, balanced meal right at 11 am as my last meal before the appointment. I typically don’t eat until 12:30 after breakfast and didn’t really crave anything. I figured the best option for that time was a breakfast sandwich.

IMGP7994

It satisfied…then somehow left me STARVING an hour later, but I could do nothing. I had to wait until after my 3:30 appointment to eat again. I did have the option command to drink this delectable orange sugar beverage 30 minutes before my appointment though. Yummy! Not.

IMGP7995

At least my appointment went well. Yet again the doctors can’t keep their mouths shut about my weight. No surprise there, though. Although this time it was because I somehow managed to lose a couple pounds. I’ve kind of given up on the “I don’t want to know” thing. I simply ignore the weight aspect because I still believe it doesn’t show anything and I don’t care.

My body does its own thing, what can I say? Gain 9 one month, lose 2 the next without changing a single thing related to how I eat or workout. All that concerns me is that everything checks out well. My stomach still grew and measures right on track. Baby B is no longer in breached position. My blood pressure is perfect and I trust my blood work to come back normal as well. Now if only I could do something about the achy hips and back, the sciatic pain, the crazy hormones, and my general readiness to feel more myself again. Somehow, I think those 3 months won’t pass as quickly as the past 2 years seem to have passed. 😉

  • What scenarios leave you feeling like time drags or flies? Not being able to eat when hungry kind of makes time drag for me. 😉
  • How long have you either been blogging or reading blogs?
  • Don't forget to ASK ME ANYTHING for the Q + A series in Nov! I've gotten some really good ones so far. Thanks!

  1. Umm, time pretty much stops when I’m at work and there’s no work for me to do!!

  2. Jaime says:

When I was pregnant with my son they wanted me to gain 40 pounds becaus I was almost 10 pounds under weight. So, what did I do…I gained 52 just in case. 😉 I gained 25 pounds with my daughter and they both came out 7 pounds 3 ounces. Go figure! Just enjoy being pregnant. You look fantastic!

    • Tina says:

Yet another example that weight doesn’t determine everything about a pregnancy and whether or not it is healthy. 😉

  3. its funny you mention that because sometimes I take a spin class and it can feel like it DRAGS on, but when I AM the instructor is FLIES by so fast!!! Thats why I love instructuing 🙂

Enjoy this time Tina you do your thing! you have one of the best outlooks of anyone I know and its inspiring!!! You look beyond beautiful!!! our bodies are meant to breed little ones so enjoy this time!

  4. The 21st is a special day for me, too– my birthday is July 21 🙂
That glucose drink looks like it tastes like Gatorade. I bet non-bloggers are non-plussed by the flava!

  5. I hated the glucose test! I drank it and had a headache for two days. I got a lot of grief about my weight and only gained 17 pounds but had a super health and big baby!

  6. Oh Turbo Jam – I love it!! Glad your appointment went well. Aren’t doctor’s used to pregnant women’s weight fluctuating already?!

    • Tina says:

You would think. LOL Even just from mine. It’s like I didn’t gain anything, then gained “normal” one month, then gained “too much”, and now “not enough”. Sheesh people!

  7. hahah i love the background on the turbo jam dvd! those people are just living the dream!

i’ve been blogging for over a year already, crazy.. reading others for about a year. and let me tell you, it’s helped me so much in my recovery. reminds me of who I am, sans ED.

    have a great night!

  8. Shannon says:

My best friend is going to give birth to her second baby any day now! Well no later than October 27th which is only a week away! I feel like the expectant mom. I can’t freaking wait and of course that means that the days are crawling by. I love being an aunt, I get to spoil the kid rotten and than when they start screaming or need a diaper changed, I get to give in this case, him, back to mom or dad.

Sorry for the overuse of exclamations marks. I’m just so excited.

  9. I swear it seems like you should be one of those 2+ year bloggers! Sitting at work when I have not much to do makes time drag. Ugh. Somehow whenever I’m having fun, time flies. Why is that??? Next week will be my 1 year blog anniversary.

  10. Thanks for stopping by http://www.livinglikethekings.com! I’m 7 months preggers too and I just had to do my glucose test last week although I haven’t heard the results yet (if they don’t call, it’s good news, right??) I’m also trying to work out and eat healthy through this pregnancy – it’s our first and I’m a super workout addict without being preggers. This whole tired and lazy thing is new to me.

    • Tina says:

I think that is the HARDEST thing for me. Not feeling like myself because I’m way more tired, cranky, etc than typical. I cannot wait to get back into my usual fitness groove and extra energy for life in general soon enough. You know – after the first month or two of sleep deprivation. 😉

  11. 21 IS a big number for you 🙂

I’ve been blogging for about a year and 1 month now! Cu-razy! I feel like you have been blogging for longer too! maybe bc you have journaled for so long?? Are you counting your time on your old blog or just the wordpress blog and now?

    • Tina says:

I don’t count the time I blogged on the other blog because to me it wasn’t really a blog…more of an online journal of my workouts leading up to show. Plus, it was so sporadic and I didn’t care about it at all. I really go from when I started Faith Fitness Fun because that’s when I sat down and really thought “Do I want to do this? What do I want to share? Will I commit to it?” and then FFF was born. 🙂

And yea…I journaled FOREVER on O2. I think 3+ years?

  12. Kasey says:

Your little girl is so adorable 🙂 I love all the pics from your last post. I’ve been blogging for over a year now!

  13. Camille says:

Eek, it’s so soon! I am so excited for you!
I have been reading blogs for about a year and a half and have been blogging for about 7!

  14. Natalie says:

I’ve been reading blogs about two years and blogging regularly for about two months! I can’t believe how it has changed my life for the better 🙂

  15. Ela says:

Glad you got that over with! Doesn’t sound like fun at all. I hate fasting-type tests, or anything else external that messes with my eating schedule.

Exercising for a really long time seems to make the time drag for me. And starving does it too (although I’m not really wanting to ‘go there’ now with either of those.

My husband used to eat oats as his regular breakfast on camping trips, fortified with nuts, etc, but lately he’s found that they don’t hold him at all – he’s _ravenous_ less than an hour later. I want to try seeing if adding protein powder to them would make it better for him, and I know it wasn’t the oats but the sandwich that you experienced that with, but it’s funny how sometimes something that’s supposed to ‘stick to you’ really doesn’t.

I’ve been reading blogs for about a year and had my own since February.

    love
    Ela

  16. Sarah says:

I hate not being able to eat for medical tests. I’m always cranky and prepared with a snack for after.

I’ve never been pregnant but is weight really that large of an indicator of a healthy pregnancy? Doesn’t it depend on your pre-pregnancy weight? You have such an amazing outlook 🙂 I hope that the rest of pregnancy goes well (and as quickly as you want it). Being pregnant seems tough both physically and mentally, it’s AMAZING what our bodies as women can do!

    • Tina says:

Too much or too little weight gain can be related to other complications, like low birth weight or gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, etc. That’s why they like to keep an eye on it. I just believe that within a normal pregnancy, if a woman eats relatively balanced and stays moderately active (if possible), she will gain just what she needs. And that is different for everyone.

  17. Jess says:

WOW! I totally thought you’d been blogging longer than nine months! That is crazy!! You have quite the following you popular thang! 🙂 And PS. I’m behind on your blog yet again and LOVED the pics of M – she is such a doll!

  18. ashleigh says:

    Happy 9th month blogging anniversary!

  19. Time drags when I am sick! My stomach is realllllly bad a loooot of days, and time seems to stop. I think it is because it limits (ummm DESTROYS) my mobility, and it’s hard to pass time quickly when you have to rest all day. Bor-ing.

Time also seems to slow down when I go for a run. Ew.

Happy 9 month blogging day! I’ve been reading blogs for a long time, and had my first blog (on livejournal)…like…seven or eight years ago.

  20. […] This post was mentioned on Twitter by Tina Reale, Tina Reale. Tina Reale said: no eating allowed!: FFF Featured Blogger: The Active Eggplant – I had to give Theresa a special shout out since sh… http://bit.ly/d8WjOo […]

  21. I think just knowing I wasn’t allowed to eat would make me hungry! And that drink sounds awful! So much to look forward to when I eventually have kids.

  22. I have been blogging since December 2006, but I took hiatus for almost all of 2009. Then my son was diagnosed with multiple food allergies, and I started blogging again to chronicle our journey together. I would say my “new” blog is almost 4 months old. 🙂

Do you really enjoy Turbo Jam? I am currently wavering between it and Hip Hop Abs for my next fitness purchase.

    • Tina says:

I do really enjoy it. I have never tried Hip Hop Abs though but Turbo Jam is fun and I love that the workouts are only about 45 mins in length.

  23. Your delivery will be here before you know it!!! And I’m so glad everything is going well with the baby. 🙂

  24. Shannon says:

So glad everything checked out perfectly. I found the orange drink to not be so bad…at least not as bad as I had read it would be. My little guy came 2 weeks before my due date. I was more than ready for him when I hit the 37 week-full term mark!

    • Tina says:

My was two weeks early from my ultrasound due date…and one week before my original due date based on ovulation. I’m really hoping this pregnancy goes the same route. LOL

  25. Becca says:

Oh bless you – I always hear pregnant friends getting fed up at this stage! I hope it goes quickly and smoothly for you.

For me, time flies when I say “just 30 minutes on Google Reader and then I’ll do the vacuuming”. I guess I need to read more quickly! Then, of course, it goes slowly while I’m actually doing the vacuuming…

  26. Allie says:

I’m so glad everything is on track with your pregnancy, you are so right-all that matters is if the baby and you are healthy! Time really does fly by and you never know, you might even miss being pregnant one day ;). I love the picture of the breakfast sandwich yum!

  27. Jen says:

I’m amazed you are doing Turbo Jam at 7 months pregnant, that’s awesome!!!! I love Turbo Jam and plan on doing Turbo Fire one day 🙂 Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!!

    Jen

  28. Kristy says:

Geeez only 9 months?!? I feel like I’ve been reading for far longer than that! 🙂 Its funny how quickly we attache to things

  29. Is it rude of me to ask how much weight you’ve gained? I’m just curious because you look fabulous. My best friend is due december 12 and has gained 25 lbs. She looks GREAT and no one has said anything about her weight… maybe it’s just your doctor? Anyways, I think you look awesome!

    • Tina says:

I don’t really care to share it outright in the post because I don’t want it to feed comparison from others who may be pregnant or have any sort of negative impact. I have gained 11 lbs this pregnancy. Although I do think my body tends to gain less overall because I have to gain weight in order to conceive. I also have a different doctor this time because we wanted to deliver at a closer hospital. I really, really like them but they do seem to have more focus on weight than my last doctor.

  30. I always am amazed at the popularity of blogs in such a short time. Admittedly, I’m not consistent, don’t really seek out readers, and do it more for me, but I’ve been at it like a year and 1/2. You’d never know it.

  31. Time seems to stand still around 2:00 pm at work. It seems like the whole morning flies by until lunch time, then after that it’s brutal. Time flies when I am reading blogs in my google reader or spending time on the internet in general.

I started reading blogs a little over 2 years ago, and I started my own a little over a year ago. I sometimes wonder what I would do with all the time I spend reading, blogging, and social media-ing in general 🙂 Knitting? Reading a book?

  32. MsBabyPlan says:

I started reading baby and mammy blogs in December, when I decided to TTC. I felt in love with couple of them, so I turned one of my old blogs into my personal TTC journal detailing my health, fashion and beauty plan towards the journey of motherhood. I began trying for baby in April but due to period miscalcolation nothing has I just go the negative. I am still TTC but I take account of my plans for our move to Canada 😉

So I have been blogging for 10 months, LOL 🙂

  33. Mellissa says:

Reading and blogging about a year and a half. It has gone fast!

  34. Nichole says:

I love your attitude about weight, and look like you said you actually lost a few. You are so good at listening to your body!

  35. Courtney F says:

I didn’t mind the tast of the glucose test although it gave me the jitters and I felt like my heartbeat was that of a hummingbird pace. Who needs Red Bull with something like that!
I tried the I don’t want to know my weight either, but my weight fluctuated so much I just said “fuget about it”.

    • Tina says:

Yea. Each visit they have something to say. I understand the reasoning behind them bringing it up. First, they were trying to reassure me its okay I hadn’t gained anything (which I knew anyways). Then it was that if something was going on to cause a 9 lb gain I would need to watch out so it didn’t become too much. Then it’s “Oh you werent trying to not gain were you?”. LOL

And I ended up with such a bad headache and fatigue last night, which I really think came from the sugar crash of that crazy orange drink.

  36. Tina I can’t believe your blog is only 9 months old! You seem like such a veteran 🙂

I think you have such a great attitude about your weight and pregnancy in general — I look forward to reading your posts very much.

I’ve been reading blogs for almost a year — I really only read a few to begin with. I’ve had my blog for about 3 months and I’ve been enjoying it so far!

  37. usually just working in general drags on and on and on…but lately it’s been better 🙂 and i’m coming up on a year of reading blogs and doing my own in a few weeks…crazy!

    • Tina says:

It’s funny how some things seem to fly by, but others drag. Glad work hasn’t been dragging as much for you. I know how you feel about it sometimes.

  38. I agree that if I can’t eat when I’m hungry, time does not pass. It’s the worst 🙁

I’ve been reading blogs for over a year but I’ve only been blogging for about a month and a half.

    Have a great Friday, Tina!

  39. Waiting to eat is really the worst. Time goes so slow when I am hungry and waiting! I have been blogging since 2007!

    Happy birthday to sweet M!

  40. lindsay says:

Glad your healthy! I being restricted to eat at certain times, I think it makes me hungrier too. haha!

  41. Lauren says:

I hate not being able to eat for medical tests either. It’s awful. And seems like once I know I’m not ALLOWED to eat, my body immediately gets ravenously hungry!

Glad everything seems to be going well and you and the baby are healthy!! It sounds like you have a good attitude about everything. You’re right — we can’t control our bodies and it is our health that matters most! Hoping the next 2 months fly by! 🙂

And I agree with others — you seem as though you’ve been doing this forever!

  42. Excellent to hear! I am still trying to decide. 🙂 Weight and pregnancy are both touchy subjects in general. Glad you are able to keep it all in perspective.

  43. Sometimes the “bean counters” are generally telling us how we are usually falling
short. They come up with several scheme to get us to view more patients than we can easily reasonably see or tips
on how to “create” more procedures compared to are called for.
This is bottom-line or practice-centered medicine and my opinion is unethical as well as immoral.

It is also outside of what we are called to do and is unneeded and counter to a healthy
practice. What I believe generates a healthy practice and is simply at
the heart of doing what is suitable for patients, is the
patient-centered talk to. This type of consult is designed to are able to the root of the patient’s issues and do all one can do to help them achieve their health and
    aesthetic goals.

In this regarding population-based medicine we have all been recently told to do the
lowest, but that doesn’t change the fact that our patients are
concerned using optimal health and results.
Olympic athletes do not win their particular contests
by training towards the minimum nor will all of
our patients be served by giving the minimum.
Let’s look at an example of how population-based remedies is creeping into the examination room in a way that is not
fully understood by physicians however has great impact on the
affected person (many similar examples are visible medicine today):

The drug corporations tell us that Plavix is around 30%
better than aspirin. What they do not tell us is that
it is relatively 30% better. In overall terms it is about
1% better. What does this mean? Well, in a single study
on CVA typically the relative risk reduction has been quoted as 25% however the absolute reduction was 0.
9 for ASA as opposed to 1 . 2 for Plavix or about 0.
3% (1). Now Plavix prices $5. 00 per tablet and ASA is
about $0. 05 so to the individual on the fixed
income is the overall difference of 0. 3% worth $4.
95 daily? Maybe, maybe not depending on several factors.
Certainly it may be worth every penny to society but society is not paying the bill…

the on a fixed income is definitely. This is the confusion between populace based and
individual medication. Some have even encouraged taxing or eliminating
Aesthetic procedures to reduce overall health expenses in the US.
This may help some number followed by economists but is it serving the individual
who will be interested in a specific goal?

What exactly is the patient-centered consult? Medicine is complex and
in specific, Aesthetic Medicine is complicated, yet it has been reduced to sound bites on TV.

Commercials ask the question “Is it better than Botox? inch or “Is it
greater than a Medical Peel? inch yet they do not give the response or any real helpful information. Patients have,
in general, no sensible idea of what can and is not done for
them. The patient-centered consult is an educational
encounter for the patient that helps these people understand what is realistic and exactly is not.

It starts using gaining a detailed understanding of the actual patient’s concerns are, not necessarily what treatments they are
serious about. Most aesthetic patients can be found in thinking they know what they need.

As an example many think they want an upper lid blepharoplasty but what they really need
is really a brow lift. Other can be found in asking about fillers yet really
need Botox or vice versa. The understanding of what they are focused on is found not by asking what they
are interested in but rather, what exactly their concerns
are. We start in a conversational method. Most often a patient will
start by means of saying something like “I feel I need Botox right here. micron My answer is generally similar to, “Well, that is certainly something we can do,
but what is it which makes you want Botox? ” The subsequent several questions are presented to helping the patient target the true issues behind the worries such as texture, tone, firmness, wrinkles, poor size, volume etc .

I use a talk to tool I call typically the $10, 000 mirror. We certainly have a simple hand mirror which has no magnification on one part and 3 to 5 times zoom on the other. I hand this to the patient with the zoomed side facing them. The particular interesting thing is that most men and women when given the reflection will start looking very intently at themselves and even begin picking and brushing with things on their face. Then i have a checklist of items We ask them about. We go through the checklist item by merchandise and discuss its influence on the overall appearance of the confront. Once this is completed, We formulate a plan of all that you can do for them, that will include items I can do but also things others may be able to do. For instance, I do not do experience lifts, but if the result they may be after is best served by the face-lift, I put this on the plan. It is unusual that we don’t do almost all of what they will benefit from.

  44. Though rendered “un-hip”, e cigs are deemed as uncool but
the technology used to develop vapes is anything but un-hip!
Especially for cannabis users, the actual technology when paired might be a viable alternative
for someone who have doesn’t like smoking pot in a joint.
But there are people who don’t want to smoke cigarettes out of a
hi-tech great straw. For many, rolling the joint works but for other folks, this tech has established quite popular.
Vaping is an easy way to consume the plant as a cannabis cigarette.
The only difference is, one is powered by the USB
port while the different uses a lighter. Both enable you to get there, high and pleased!

    Vape Pens

The future is here. And for cannabis users, it is an alternative which is beginning to
seem sensible. The e-liquids used in elizabeth cigs
can be replaced with marijuana oil in the cartridge that uses the same methodology.

Several brands even let users grind flowers so it work extremely well in the heating chamber which usually heats up without burning it.
This activates the main ingredient not having damaging the device.

It is a nerdy way of using herb. Being familiar with
this technology, which is not complicated by the way, for use with marijuana
was not intended for it in the first place.
The time-honored way of using cannabis provides seen a change
and with vape pens, its set to proceed towards even the most unusual ways.

    Conventional Joints

Regarding millions, this is the way to get high.
Some grind the item and roll it up applying papers
which is much more secure than regular cigarettes. Applying vapes or joints is a lot like asking someone if they
favor automatic or manual sign vehicles. Each has their very own opinion. While many prefer automatic transmission to stick, the
same can probably be said for cannabis users.
The particular perks of rolled joints are they doesn’t exhaust till the last puff and do not demand the need for batteries to really take pleasure in the moment.
You won’t have to manage around for the charging cable tv by virtue of one puff lots of.
But assembling a shared can be a pain to move and some people are typically defer
by the saliva used for going a joint. It’s not completely issue-free so ,
again, it depends on the preference of the person.

  45. buy eliquid says:

When people stop smoking cigarettes, one of their particular main concerns is
the possibility that they will gain weight. They are right to be concerned
because one of the common effects of quitting smoking is usually weight gain, usually from
5-10 pounds and sometimes more. Nonetheless even though it is common,
    it is not expected.

There are a variety of reasons for shed pounds gain weight when they are trying to
stop. For many individuals, it’s a natural reaction to the cravings of
which can be withdrawal. Due to these desires, they substitute food regarding smoking which, of course
, increases the number of calories taken in. Additionally,
one of the recommended ways to cope with nicotine withdrawal
is to consume juice the first few days to get nicotine out of the system more rapidly.

So , due to the juice and the increase in snacks, sooner or later you’ve gained several excess fat.

At the same time, people coming off of a long-term cigarette addiction don’t immediately enter a fitness program.
And because the effects of cigarette smoking linger for a time after kicking the habit of, the fatigue, shortness regarding breath and other common ailments won’t disappear overnight.
Starting an exercise program is tough enough for anyone but for ex-smokers the actual change
is even more difficult. There is certainly another
physiological effect of using tobacco. The nicotine in cigs elevates the heart rate knowning that stimulating effect plays a role in maintaining weight off.
When you cigarettes, it returns to it is normal
levels and the propensity to keep weight off is
    usually lost.

  46. dui faq says:

The main reason anyone would ask that question is because they have been billed with some form of
DUI (driving under the influence) or DUI (driving while intoxicated).

If this sounds like you or a person you need to hire a lawyer as fast as possible.

There are several reason why you need a experienced DUI lawyer working hard for you.
Primarily they will know your legal rights in regard
to the specific charge against you. Thus, sun’s rays able to help prevent you from self-incriminating yourself or any other errors you are likely to make.

Moreover, when the charge is a serious just one, which hopefully it
is not, they may know how to defend you in court. You need
the experience of an excellent DUI lawyer because they
discover how to talk to judges, juries and the prosecution. And
once again they will have more expertise in the law far
more thoroughly than you will, given their a lot of

Probably the most frequent argument against hiring a DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
lawyer is that they are expensive. Nicely this is a valid point the proper job DUI attorney
is going to be high priced, but that is because of
the value they provide. For example , how much
could you pay to avoid going to imprisonment
even for a few months. For many the cost of the DUI legal representative when compared to the potential fines
and jail time of not; find hiring one is a good investment on the part.
