Romance?

Posted: February 11, 2010 at 7:10 pm

Tired and beat. That's how you could describe my day. I've been battling a headache since last night and it didn't help that the precious girl woke up two hours earlier than normal. We did get some snuggle time in this morning and I guess its a good thing that she won't fall asleep in our bed. We have never allowed her to come into our bed for sleep, only morning snuggles. This morning, Peter brought her into our bed since she was coughing a lot last night and showed no signs of going back to sleep at 5:30 and I wasn't ready to get up. She laid by me all snuggled up for maybe 20 minutes and then proceeded to bounce around, play hide the alarm clock under the pillow, and bop me on the head in her attempts to get me moving. Oh, how I love her. 🙂

The remainder of the day has been low key as well with just getting some things done around the house and other little projects. I have to work on Sunday's lesson still too. Since I have been tutoring more, getting the lesson ready has been taking the backburner until later in the week when I'm done tutoring. This afternoon is also a full body workout with some cardio in the mix. I'm looking forward to it since it will hopefully give me some energy. Not quite sure what the remainder of the afternoon/evening holds.

Valentine's Day? What are your thoughts?

I think most people love it or are just apathetic about it. I am more in the second group. We don't usually do much for Valentine's Day and I don't really miss out on it. Although, chocolate is always appreciated so a day that warrants the giving of chocolate can't hurt 😉  Even though I am not a huge V-Day fan,  I am a romantic at heart. While I MUCH prefer the daily support and devotion that makes up a relationship and more specifically my man, romance is still nice. I think the defining characteristic of something being romantic is the surprise factor. Even the most basic and simple act of love can be huge to me if it comes as a surprise.  What, in your opinion, makes something romantic? I'm still trying to decide if I am going to do anything from Makenzie & I for Peter. I can't say what I decide here since he normally reads my posts...so you will have to wait and see 😉 Okay time to go! But before you do - check out these 2 giveaways! Carba Nada Giveaway and a giveaway sponsored by I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!

  1. i’ve been battling a headache since yesterday too…hope yours goes away ASAP!

I’m not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day…not just because I’m single, haha. Even when I had a boyfriend, going out on Valentine’s Day felt so cliche. All of the restaurants had cheesy decorations and everyone was all coupled up. I’d much rather stay in and get Chinese take-out!

I’ll be honest, though, now that I’m single – I’m a little bitter about all things romantic 🙁

It’s interesting because as far as Vday goes, my husband and I celebrate it, but never on the actual day. Because for 4 years of while we were dating he went to a university 2 1/2 hours away, so depending on what day Vday fell on, we just celebrated the day closest to it, and it kinda stuck. Which makes it neat, because we choose our day instead of feeling the pressure to “do the Vday thing.” Plus he proposed to me the day before Vday. Vday’s overrated! Cheers for romance everyday! 🙂

I hope you feel better soon!
I’m not a big Vday fan. I believe we should celebrate love every single day, not on an ‘official’ day.
To me, actions speak louder than words. Finding a note in my lunch box from my hubby makes my day brighter and I consider small gestures like that incredibly romantic. 🙂

  5. What’s romantic to me is just spending time with my hubby. It doesn’t matter what we’re doing, as long as we’re together.

  6. Sophie says:

We do silly gifts for Valentine’s Day…we know it is a silly holiday, but we love doing things for each other and spending time together that its a great excuse to have a little fun =)

  7. Oh Valentine’s Day. A corporate holiday designed to make Americans spend even more money…but I celebrate it! It’s fun to have a day dedicated to love! I think anything done especially for a significant other is romantic. Even something small like a flower picked from the side of the road, or a 5 minute back rub =)

  8. I do love V day! I think it is a nice day for both men and women to know to just take a moment to be together. I know everyday should be like that…..but my man is a very busy guy 🙁

Honestly I don’t think we are doing much for V day, but I hope chocolate is involved 😉

I hope you aren’t too tired today!

  9. kbwood says:

i totally agree with you! you dont need a day to celebrate your love 🙂
i hope you feel better girl-being tired is so exhausting.

  10. Amanda Estes says:

I’m usually not a big Valentine’s Day person but this is our first V-Day as a married couple so I’m looking forward to it. Just dinner and snuggle time and that makes me happy!

    Have a great weekend!
