organizing is a brain drain

Posted: November 6, 2010 at 3:40 pm

Ahhhh, Saturday. I don’t think the chance to sleep in on a Saturday morning ever gets old. I stayed snuggled up in bed until 7:30 and it felt glorious. It’s been awhile since I got a solid 9 hours of sleep. 😀

I might have gotten even more than 9 hours. I sort of drifted off here and there while watching a movie last night. Our local Redbox had nothing in stock for our regular Friday night movie, so I chose Letters to Juliet.

I figured it couldn’t be too terrible and would likely be a better choice than Space Chimps 2 or Lake Placid 3. Oh my goodness, was it ever boring. I know chick flicks tend to be very predictable, but at least most have some humorous anecdotes or creative touches. Not this one. I don’t recommend it.

So far today all I have done is occupy myself with the many bags/boxes of goods from my sister-in-law. So, I don’t have much else I can think to say. Instead, I will leave you with some fun Q + A – from The Fit Bridesmaid and All Kinds of Hungry.

  1. What was your favorite crayon color as a kid? Cerulean. I loved the bright blue and the name sounded pretty.
  2. What is your favorite TV show? Friends. It never gets old.
  3. Do you have any siblings? Two. One sister, one brother. Both younger. familypic
  4. Where do you hope to be in 5 years? Basically where I am right now – being a mom, loving on my fabulous husband, and pursuing my passions with either work in the fitness field, blogging, or a combo of the two.
  5. What’s your favorite fruit? Apples. I literally eat one every day.
  6. What’s your favorite scent? Baby powder. I don’t even use it, but I love the clean and innocent smell.
  7. Who is your idol? Jesus.
  8. What is your favorite animal? A horse. I love riding.
  9. Salty or Sweet? Sweet! IMGP8350
  10. What is your favorite movie of all time? Oh goodness. I really don’t know.
  11. If you could go anywhere in the world (that you haven’t already been) where would you go? That I haven’t already been? Australia!
  12. What is your favorite physical or personality trait about yourself? Physical = my eyes or my legs. Personality = my hope and optimism.
  13. What is an ideal Saturday night for you? Dinner out with just Peter & I, after having a fun afternoon as a family.
  14. What is your favorite color to wear? Probably green.
  15. Cats or dogs? Dogs.
  16. Name a food/recipe that you recently discovered. Honeycrisp apples! They are now my apple for each day. 😀  IMGP8201

Your turn! What is your favorite fruit? And what is your ideal Saturday night? And even if its not the ideal, I hope you have a great one tonight! Those in the US – don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour and gain your extra hour of sleep! Woo!

  1. I think my favorite fruit is bananas, but apples are a close second. My ideal Saturday night is a relaxing one: a movie and friends without any pressure from school or the work week:)

  2. I too discovered Honey Crisps this fall. OMG where have these apples been all my life?! Seriously, they are great. And they are a whole meal themselves they are ginormous!

  3. My favorite fruit is also apples, by far! Granny Smith especially, I love the sour crispiness.

My ideal Saturday night (after having a good day with a swim in the morning and then being outdoors) is to get dressed up go to a nice dinner and drinks out with friends, then come home to watch a movie and having some lovin’ with my man. 🙂 Can’t wait for him to come home so we can have Saturday nights like that again!

  4. My favorite fruit is so hard to pick! Right at this very moment I will say blackberries because I just had some that were amazing.

I love that we’re getting an “extra” hour. It’s my favorite day of the year!

  5. I am so glad you got so much sleep! Love the survey…it is so fun to get to know you better! My favorite fruit is raspberries! My ideal Saturday night is dinner and a movie at the nice theaters (we always go to the dollar theater) and frozen yogurt after! Have a great night!

  6. Camille says:

I absolutely love bananas. I know they aren’t the most exotic fruit, but I could never get tired of them. In fact, we are out of bananas right now and I thank that it contributing to my strange mood.

  7. Natalie says:

I still love FRIENDS too! I think either Colin or I quote it at least once a day. It never fails to make me laugh.

Apples and strawberries are on the top of my fruit list…although I haven’t met much fruit that I didn’t like!

  8. Pineapple and watermelon are my favourite fruits. A perfect Saturday night? Cuddling on the couch and watching Hockey Night in Canada with my hubby!

    • Tina says:

Oh watermelon. I love it! I was so sad that almost EVERY watermelon I had this summer wasn’t quite there with taste. It could have been crazy pregnancy tastebuds though. I’m sure you can relate. 😉

  9. Shady says:

I can only pick one fruit. No fair =( Can I say berries in general because I love those little colourful bites of yumminess.

My ideal Saturday night currently involves any night that is not spent studying or writing essays or frantically catching up on readings for upcoming midterms. I really don’t dream very big do I?

    Thanks for sharing Tina

  10. Thanks for the clock reminder. I just breathed a sigh of relief – I need that extra hour.

My ideal Saturday is kind of happening right now. Hiking early in the morning with B, grabbing lunch afterwards, and now we are spending a quiet evening at home, starting with a nap, dinner, then a movie on the couch. I’m a simple girl 🙂

  11. I love Honeycrisp apples … but I’d have to say peaches are my absolute favorite fruit.

I, however, am not looking forward to the time change. All those darn West Coast games will now start an hour later, meaning I’ll have to stay at work later, too. (We have to get the scores in our paper, even if those teams have no freakin’ fans here.)

  12. chelsey says:

    i LOVED letters to juliet!!

  13. I love getting to know more about you! Survey’s are F-U-N! 🙂

I’m not *too* much of a fruit person, but I LOVE avocados! Like, I could eat them everyday…and I think WILL eat them everyday post comp. Watch out! HA!

My ideal Saturday night depends on the week I’ve had or what I have going on the rest of the weekend. If Hubby and I have had a super busy week, then sometimes its nice to snuggle on the couch and rest (together, of course!). Other nights we love to get together with friends for game nights or gatherings:)

    • Tina says:

I don’t think I’ve ever met a person who isn’t too into fruit. LOL

And I love love love game nights. It’s been too long since I have had one.

  14. Anna says:

My favorite fruit is raspberries and ideal Saturday night usually consists of relaxing and getting ready for Sunday and the next week. Sometimes it involves friends and sometimes homework ^_^

  15. I agree, Friends NEVER gets old. I have most of the episodes memorized (I like to keep it on in the background instead of music), and I still watch them as much as possible.

My favorite fruits are plums (SO GOOD BEST EVER!), pineapples, and strawberries. I love the taste of apples and bananas, but both upset my stomach.

My ideal Saturday night involves a nice dinner and hanging out with my friends, family, boyfriend, or some combination of the three. Miss them sooo much.

  16. Leashieloo says:

Cerulean was my favorite crayon color as well!

  17. Ela says:

My favorite fruit – has changed so much over the years! Probably berries. Used to be durian, bananas, dates, persimmons! Now I have an occasional bit of durian, but the rest are way too high-sugar for me.

I do eat an apple every day, per my naturopath’s instructions.

    love
    Ela

  18. Haha, definitely the apple! I had someone call me the apple girl last night because the past couple of times she has seen me, I was eating an apple. Um, the ideal Saturday night is movie night with all of my boys, which is not what I did last night and I have serious plans for it next Saturday!

  19. cher says:

tina, thanks for stopping by my spot! i love your blog and have been reading for some time now!

  20. That was my favorite color crayon (and name), too!! Ha!

Ideal Saturday night usually involves ending the evening snuggling with my fiance.

  21. Ugh my mom wanted to watch that movie with me but it just looked so corny that I said no! Thank you for reaffirming my original thought on that movie — it looked dull, boring and LAME.

    Favorite fruit: bananas!

Favorite way to spend a Sat night: out to dinner with Jason followed by a movie at home — with cocktail in hand 🙂

  22. Mmm apples are my favorite fruit, too! And my ideal Saturday night is just relaxing with family and friends 🙂

  23. Maren says:

Tangerines, definitely! They are also the best jelly bean flavor!

  24. Growing up, my favorite color was cerulean too! Of course, I used to pronounce it “chlorine” as in the chemical you put in your pool. LOL 🙂

  25. I was going to netflix that movie but didn’t think it would be too good—thanks for the review! I got 9 hours of sleep last night and I feel absolutely amazing. I can’t remember the last time I got that much sleep 🙂

    • Tina says:

I realized something important this year. Daylight Savings does not exist with a child. I didn’t get my extra hour. Boo! Glad you got extra rest though. 🙂

  26. Lee says:

I love reading these type of things. My favorite fruit is probably blueberries.

I always liked the Cornflower crayon.

  27. The photo of you and your siblings for a second I thought “Oh wow her sister looks almost just like her …” then I realized the girl on the right was you!! Ha Ha Slow moment. My favorite fruit at the moment is a banana. Or pineapple. An ideal Saturday night would involve my couch, my big comfy green blanket, a pillow, my pets, husband and a movie or TV show. I’m a home body.

  28. Cerulean was my favorite when I was younger. Every coloring book was covered in that beautiful blue!
