a little bit of cheer for us all
Posted: November 10, 2010 at 12:02 pmIt looks like I will be spending another day snuggled with my little M on the couch. On the bright side, she hasn’t thrown up since about 5:30 yesterday afternoon and she slept well overnight. She still has some tummy upset though and needs her momma. That is of course my number one focus, even if it does mean another lackluster blog post.
I’m not sorry for that though. Not every post needs to be exciting, motivational, special, or interesting. I do hope you all enjoy the majority of what I put out here, but I don’t worry when one week inhibits the fitness or fun part of Faith Fitness Fun. Thankfully, faith is always there to help me in these weeks. Life is life. It’s our job to make the best of it. Look for more regular posts on interesting topics - Q+A about my fitness competition, a discussion on abs, blogging, etc – when I have downtime later this week.
For now, I will share what I have been working on after so many of you showed interest last week when I mentioned it.
First off, I can’t believe I have red and green together on my blog before Thanksgiving comes. I know I could use a little cheer though. How it works? Easy as 1-2-3!
1. Send me an email ( tina [at] faithfitnessfun [dot] com )BEFORE DECEMBER 4th with this information:
- Name
- Blog Name & URL
- Mailing Address
- ANY information you want your “Secret Gift Giver” to know – vegan/gluten free/don’t like chocolate/obsessed with giraffes/etc
2. Receive your “Secret Gift Recipient” information by Monday, Dec 6th. Put together a small gift no more than $20 in value.
3. Ship the gift out by Dec 20th (a full two weeks after you get your recipient’s info), so hopefully everyone will receive their gifts by the end of the year.
DISCLAIMERS
- MOST importantly – please, please, please ONLY sign up if you KNOW you will participate. When Janetha hosted the Valentine gift exchange earlier this year, she had quite a few people not send their gifts. How disappointing for those expecting them. Let’s avoid that this time around. If you sign up, then DO IT. If you sign up and realize you can’t, let me know right away. Be kind!
- This gift exchange is open to everyone who participates in the blog community, including regular readers. This is a general gift exchange for the season of giving, so no matter what your faith beliefs, feel free to participate! Also, I plan to pair those in the US with each other, Canadian addresses with each other, European with each other, so shipping costs stay as reasonable as possible.
- Feel free to share about this gift exchange on your blog, tweet this post, share on your blog’s Facebook fan page, etc. You can also add the Holiday Blogger button (same as picture above) to your blog by copying the code from below and pasting it into a widget for your sidebar.
This is such a great community and we all deserve a special surprise to celebrate such a beautiful season of compassion and joy. Spread the cheer! And sign up! 😀
- Do you ever feel guilty for not having exciting stuff to share on your blog? I used to, but after 9.5 months of blogging I realize not every day is wonderful…plus, it’s best to be real. And still focus on life.
- Do you think you’re going to participate? Let me know if you have any questions on the gift exchange!
I love the posts where you share what is really going on in your life. I don’t think there is absolutely any reason to ever feel guilty about that – it’s you blog! And I’m glad M is feeling a little better today. 🙂
Gotta share life and all it throws our way for sure. I don’t feel guilty one bit. 🙂
Im glad M is feeling better. Poor little thing!
I dont feel guilty about boring posts. Im not always as fun as I like to pretend I am. 🙂
I used to feel bad when my posts weren’t my MOST exciting, so I decided to take weekends off and only post on weekdays. I enjoy the break, and I think (and hope!) it makes my weekday posts more exciting. Still though, like you said, life isn’t thrilling all the time, so I think lackluster posts just show that you’re a real person! 🙂
So glad she’s feeling better. You both deserve a day full of rest and relaxation. Take it and don’t feel guilty 🙂
I do feel guilty about boring posts sometimes. But then I realize, my blog is for me and its something I enjoy. So if my posts makes ME happy and is something I will be interested in reading years from now (even though my readers may not), it doesn’t matter.
I used to struggle ALOT with putting up something that was eye catching, exciting, motivating….everyday.
But then I realized that my blog isn’t me unless I’m really me. My life, my discoveries, my thoughts, my ins and outs. And sometimes that may seem not exciting but it is always REAL. 🙂
Just like you my lady!
Never apologize for posting what you want to write. You’re right: It doesn’t always have to be exciting or motivational. (But sometimes even the most mundane posts can inspire …)
I just shot you an e-mail. The link to your button doesn’t seem to be working though. I copied and pasted twice to put it on my blog and it’s not showing up …
Grrr. I thought we had the kinks worked out. I’ll look into it.
And nope – I don’t feel guilty at all. 😀
My husband said it SHOULD be working now.
It’s working. Thanks!
A gift exchange is such a great idea! Very nice!
I will definitely participate! Now I just need to think of what I should say on things I like…these too many things! 🙂
Sounds like fun! Count me in 🙂
I’ve been such a slacker at blogging lately – with work, applying for other jobs and trying to stay on top of household chores, life happens and other priorities come first. And I’m okay with that.
I so rarely feel that I manage to say anything interesting! That may be me being hard on myself. And, I’ll be participating! (Glad M’s feeling better!)
No guilt at all!! So glad to hear that your little lady is feeling better…there is nothing worse than being sick when you’re a kid…or an adult! 🙁
I missed the post where M got sick 🙁
Glad to hear she’s on the mend 🙂
This looks like so much fun! I’ll definitely be participating. The pictures of Sick M always melt my heart. She is so cute and I can’t imagine her being sick and unhappy.
I never feel like I have anything intersting to write about, but this post is very exciting! I would love to participate in the gift exchange! I’ll send you my info once I figure out what to write, hopefully my blog will help too.
I hope M is feeling better soon. XOXOXO
I actually get pretty frustrated with myself for not being more interesting. But then I realize that if I just start writing, something usually comes out. Plus, the blog is more for myself than anything else, so it should not matter.
Yes, I think I will participate. Expect an email in about 3 minutes!
I hope little M is feeling better. Sometimes we all need a “sick day.” Hope you’re catching up on some reading or fun tv!
I’ve been on the computer off an on basically all day. Thank goodness for a super small and portable netbook. I can snuggle her, read to her, and stuff and still have easy access when she just wants to zone out or doze.
I’ve felt the “good post” pressure before but then I usually just end up posting whatever is on my mind or a picture-heavy post or whatever fits into my life on that specific day. I love your blog and your inspiring, insightful posts but we love you and appreciate your realness – the day-to-day stuff of being a mom, wife, etc. 🙂
I love this gift exchange idea! I will definitely participate!
Yay–both for little M recovering and for the gift exchange! 🙂
Glad little M is feeling better today! enjoy the cuddles!
Cant wait for the gift exchange! 🙂
I love your attitude!
And I don’t think there is anything wrong with posting about when life gets crazy – it’s the reality for all of us.
The gift exchange is such a lovely idea!! I
It’s so ironic to me that post you think it boring is actually super exciting! You announcing the gift exchange is enough girl! That’s such a big undertaking and you’re so generous to coordinate it all.
I hope your little one feels better very soon. She’s such a little sweetie!
Haha! It was more of a fallback since I had nothing else to say and had already been organizing the gift exchange info.
Darn tootin’ its still exciting. I can’t wait. And yes, I just said darn tootin’. 😀
Ah poor M 🙁
On boring days, I’ll typically only have one post to put up. Forced posts are my worst posts.
A gift exchange sounds fun!!
poor sweetie… hope M is back to normal VERY soon!
…and we are all still here, still reading! <3 I may not be able to always comment, but you always inspire me, even with a post like this… saying it's not always perfect!
I love bloggie exchanges!! I love to send fun gifts and I LOVE to receive packages in the mail… my UPS man knows me 🙂
So glad M is feeling better! Being sick to your stomach is the WOSRT!
As a new blogger, I am still feeling the need to have a new recipe or something up every day. It is difficult to learn what a good balance is! I always enjoy reading about the “real” life stuff too – good reminder that everyone is human.
I definitely want to participate in the exchange. Will send an email in a bit. Thanks! 🙂
So glad she is doing a bit better, it is so hard when they are little and can’t tell you what is making them sick.
Poor Miss M 🙁 I’m glad she’s doing a bit better today. I haven’t had to deal with a sick child yet…but I have a feeling its going to be harder on me than on him! Its so hard to see a baby in pain.
Glad to hear that M is feeling a bit better! It’s so hard when little ones are sick 🙁
Just emailed you 🙂
aww I hope Baby M feels 100% better soon!!! and I am SO participating! emailing you now 🙂

I’ve been blogging off and on for almost 2 years and while I do want to be a helpful resource to those with the same health issues and needs as my own, ultimately my blog is what’s going on in my life. More days than not, I don’t have exciting pictures or stories to tell. I’m a little more introspective because that’s just how I am and WHERE I am on this journey.
Thank you so much for organizing this, Tina! I just emailed you 🙂
Glad M is feeling better today!!! That must me rough 🙁
The gift exchange sounds like so much fun!! I will have to see if I can do it, and I will email you if I absolutely can!!!
Your blog is always interesting to me:) I definitely want to participate in the gift exchange!! Wahoo, thanks for putting it all together! Hopefully M continues to get better!!!
Sorry your little one is sick! I don’t worry about posting exciting content…my blog is just lifecasting, really mostly for my long-distance family and for fun. Some days it’s good, some days it’s a picture of my breakfast. Some days go by with no blog post. Oh well 🙂
I do feel bad sometimes when I don’t have interesting and motivational stuff to say everyday. Then I realized that it’s better to be real!
I love the idea of a gift exchange! I am definitely going to participate and you will receive an email shortly!
Hope your baby girl is over her sickness! Hopefully you don’t catch it as well.
Sounds like M is on the mends. I like the idea of the exchange. I may sign up. Oh sometimes I definitely feel guilty for lackluster posts. But that’s life right?
I definitely felt guilty about not having something “great” to post everyday, but I’m slowly beginning to realize that it’s normal. Monday through Friday I have a regular work schedule- and since I can’t talk about work that removes a lot of content. So now I’m encouraged to seek out fun on my downtime.
Looking forward to the gift exchange- what a great idea!
count me in! what a fun idea 🙂
I’m so glad she’s doing better!
count me in on the gift exchange. Sounds brilliantly fun!
yayyyyyyyyyy!!! so excited!!! sending you an email now!!!!
I’m glad M is feeling better — sometimes good nights sleep is all we need!
I think I would like to participate, but I’m going to think on it over the weekend. December is a busy month (for everyone it seems like!) and I want to make sure I can take the time to do this. Thanks for starting it!
Gift exchange sounds so fun! I like reading the usual stuff on people’s blogs, we’re all just people.
Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog, too!
yippee!!! I’ll email you right now!
I’m so glad M is starting to feel a bit better! And I will for SURE be participating in the exchange!!!
I hope M feels better. Poor kiddo 🙁
