walk it out
Posted: November 19, 2010 at 7:25 pmI have finally reached a stage where, sadly, many workouts are starting to get more uncomfortable. I also find myself lacking the motivation for certain things, especially weights workouts. I typically LOVE doing weight workouts, but right now I don’t enjoy them much. Probably because I miss doing the types of lifting I truly enjoy. Power classes are getting old. Plus, I find myself liking the simplicity of completing workouts at home. In fact, this afternoon I completed a quick circuit workout with my handy resistance bands and 5 lb dumbbells.
- alternating reverse lunges
- one armed rows with the band
- wall squat holds
- pushups on knees
- step ups on a high step
- tricep kickbacks with band
- bicep curls with band
- rear delt fly with band
I completed 15 reps of each move, one right after the other, two times through. I only did 2 sets of the circuit in order to try out another walking DVD download from Exercise TV.
Christina from Exercise TV contacted me about reviewing some of the workout options on their site. Since at home workouts appeal to me greatly right now, I took her up on that offer. I wanted to pick out something I knew would work well with being almost 8 months pregnant, so I opted for some DVD downloads from their walking program.
Leslie Sansone’s Rock & Tone Intermediate and Advanced workouts. I completed the Intermediate workout yesterday for some light cardio and then gave the Advanced video a shot after my circuit workout today.
Oh goodness that is quite the unflattering shot! Now you can see how cumbersome that ball of baby B has become. 😉 That’s all besides the point, though.
While these workouts were provided to me free for review, the opinions are completely my own. Both walking DVDs clock in at only 20 minutes each. They both consist of brisk walking in place, side steps, knees, kicks, and other basic moves. The advanced version adds in a lot of squats and lunges as well. The intermediate video felt a bit too basic for me, but could definitely suit a beginner…or myself as an entry workout post-pregnancy. I really enjoyed the Advanced video, especially when coupled with my circuit workout beforehand. I know I will be thankful to have these options available to me in the next few months as they suit my current fitness level.
For all of you looking for more advanced workouts, Exercise TV has many many many workouts from which to choose. Some of the cardio and ab workouts they offer look really good. They have free options in both full-length and mini versions for you to customize your own workout or get in a quick abs session at home. They have a variety of workout styles to choose from as well – dance, kickboxing, interval training, pilates, yoga, strength training, circuits, and more. They also have DVDs for purchase or videos to download, including workouts like Jillian Michaels, Jackie Warner, and Core Fusion. With the downloads, you can then store them in a mobile device or burn them for portability and your convenience.
Lucky for you all, as a special gift to my readers, Exercise TV will be giving away one video download to THREE different winners. To enter leave a separate comment for each of the following ways you choose to enter.

Ooh great giveaway Tina! I’d love to try a ton of the downloads on that site but for now I’ll say the 30 Day Shred, just because I’ve heard a lot about it and want to see what it’s all about!
Goodness, you look like you are about ready to welcome little B!
I love exercise tv! I use their free stuff though. Honestly, I would love to subscribe to them and probably would if I did not get fitTv on my dish.

Ohh I would love to try the Jackie Warner One on One training (after the baby comes). I tried some of her workouts when they had them On Demand it is is already on my list of things to purchase after baby #2 arrives. I loved her style and the fact that I felt those work outs for DAYS after.
I have TurboFire and Insanity on my list of workouts to get for after baby B. I keep trying to find good deals on Craigslist.
Jackie Warner is a crazy lady! Works so good!!!! 🙂
Exercise on demand brings fitness and exercise directly into your home and at one incredible cost when you compare it to a gym membership. I think that is awesome!
You look fab girl! 🙂
I like to workout when I want and how I want. That’s one of the reasons why I like reading your blog. You do the same. I’m definitely going to look into exercise tv.

Good for you, staying in shape even during late pregnancy! I was doing well to even walk then–take it easy!
Fitness is one of my big things. With my daughter I did a kickboxing video the day I went to the hospital. LOL
And thanks for stopping by here. 🙂 It’s nice to have other moms to chat with.
🙂 So cute you are!
I’d love to try out some of the Jackie Warner videos. I used to have exercise TV before we got rid of cable and I miss it so much. It was my favorite section.
You look so cute pregnant!
I’m coveting that “Short on Time? Fitness Program” download. Since I’ve been doing pretty much nothing lately, the idea of a short workout appeals greatly.
And I just tweeted about the giveaway. Granted, since it’s 1 a.m. Eastern, don’t know how many people will see it … 😉
I love exercise TV, I haven’t used it in awhile since I got Bob’s dvd’s. I need to go back and check out what new stuff they have.
Ha – I would like to try Carmen Electra’s Striptease. I would never buy that for myself, but I’d like to try it 🙂
Hahaha! That is why I love you. I would probably think the same thing. At the very least you know it will provide either a better workout than you expected….or a good laugh. 😀
You are on my blogroll!
I love working out at home! I actually don’t even belong to a gym anymore. I do frequent a yoga studio for class about once a week!
Thank you for spurring me to make the changes I have needed to my blog rolls. 🙂
I love Exercise TV! I remember being so psyched when I found out about it, especially since I don’t have a gym membership.
I’d love to try the Rock Hard Body by Jake – it looks awesome 🙂
Tweeted it 🙂
Of course you’re on my blogroll, too 🙂
Naturally you’re on my blogroll 🙂 Little M looks like great moral support for your workouts lol.
I’ve been out of the blog world for a little while because I gave birth to my son. I just wanted to say that you look so adorable!!!
I was looking at two downloads the Leslie Sansone Rock & Tone (I have several of hers in rotation) and Debra Mazda’s Shapely Girl Complete Cardio (simply because I like the name!).
Look at you working out! 🙂 You go girl!
I love Exercise TV… I sometimes do their free On Demand videos on Comcast. 🙂
I was looking at the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred!
Oh, and you are already on my blog roll of course. 🙂
You know you are already on my blogroll. Does this count too? 🙂 I have never tried workout DVDs, I somehow only do strength training at the gym. But with this weather, I might try one of those. Nice suggestions ladies!
Of course it counts! And I prefer doing weights at the gym too, but its nice to have an option for at home if you can’t make it too.
