gettin’ cheeky with it

Posted: November 20, 2010 at 3:46 pm

No, not “gettin’ jiggy with it”. And no, not cheeky like wearing chaps cheeky. I’m talking Cheeky as in my all time favorite Mexican restaurant Cheeky.

I haven’t been since sometime this summer, until now. Now….I have dined there twice in the past 24 hours. Oh, yes.

Last night I had Mom’s Night Out with my friends from the mom’s club. I thoroughly enjoyed getting out with them and chatting without the kids. If only I could have enjoyed a margarita or dragonberry mojito with them as well. Sadly, I didn’t get any pictures of the crew all together. You can picture 8 women enjoying kid-free girl time with non-stop talking and ever-flowing chips + salsa. Sounds fun, right? 😀

I headed back to Cheeky today with Em. We had decided at our last visit we would hit up Cheeky. She had never been before and had to see what I always rave about. And I can hardly believe that the next time I see her she will likely be holding her little boy in her arms!

We shared the chips + salsa, then each ordered two tacos + beans. I had my go-to combo of one fish taco with the chipotle poblano slaw and one pork taco with the mango pepper slaw.

Yum yum yum yum. I did switch it up the night before with one fish taco and one crab cake taco. What? When I like something I will order it over and over again.

I don’t have any plans the rest of the afternoon so I plan to play with my little miss ‘tude, if she’ll have me. If she won’t, I have other things to keep me company.

Only 100 pages in and it already intrigues me so. It is different than I expected, but I adore dark and mysterious storylines. Have a great rest of the Saturday all!

  • Do you tend to order the same things at restaurants or always mix it up? I have a hard time branching out if I know I love something.
  • What types of books/movies do you prefer? I love suspense in both. Romantic comedy movies are fun too though.
  • Have you entered yet? Ends on Monday night!

  1. Aw, you two look so good! I have never been to Cheeky before and there is one right around the corner from me. I need to try it out! I normal have my go to things in restaurants since I know it is safe. Enjoy your book and some down time Tina!

  2. I love your shirt! You look beautiful!

I always order the same thing because every time I stray, I end up disappointed. Now I’m craving fish tacos. Yum!

  3. Julie says:

Cute picture of you two mamas!

I almost always order the same thing, but this summer I changed it up at a favorite restaurant and guess what? I found my new favorite meal there! Ya just never know.

  4. Camille says:

You two are the most adorable pregnant women ever 🙂

  5. Melie says:

Those tacos look so good! I tend to order the same thing if I know I like it, The main problem is when we go to a new place and there is a huge menu. I get so overwhelmed and confused!

I like dark and suspenseful books! And I really loved the Stieg Larsson trilogy. They were the best books I had read in a while…

  6. I tend to order the same types of things because I’m a pescatarian..and many of fish dishes are the same from place to place. That dinner looks great, though!

  7. you look great!
unfortunately i have to order pretty much the same thing over and over when i eat out…too many food intolerances/allergies to risk trying something new 🙁

books/movies: educational or comedy. definitely. 🙂

  8. allison says:

I love spanish food!!! I would have been in heaven if i had it 2 days in a row:):) I love going to my boyfriends parents house since they are dominican and his mom is an amazing cook!!

  9. Priyanka says:

I didn’t know that you are to-be Mama. Congratulations girl!! Love the picture.

I normally eat the same thing especially if I know I love something.

  10. emily says:

Thats a great color on you! I love green!

I always tend to get some of the same items I usually order…unless I don’t really know what I want then I will try something different. Olive Garden is a place I tend to try different things because there dishes are soooo yummy!

  11. lindsay says:

too cute! You all are just precious pregnant ladies!

  12. Em says:

I had another wonderful lunch with you today!! Thank you so much for being such a great friend and all of the mommy advice you gave me. It was so nice to catch up with you. And the fooooooood… ohhh the tacos and chips and salsa were amazing! I will definitely be taking Andrew to Cheeky’s soon!! 🙂

P.S. I will send you that link I mentioned in just a sec and you owe me a recipe in return! 😉 Love ya Tina!! Have a wonderful evening!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Lee says:

    You both look so cute!

I tried to read Dragon Tattoo but couldn’t get into it at all. I read about 100 pages and then gave up.

  14. Keep me/us posted on that book….have seen it many times and been tempted to pick it up but never have. The word tattoo…speaks to me 🙂

  15. Love the picture of the two of you together. So cute! And I LOVE mexican food! That looks amazing! I bet it was delicious!

  16. Ameena says:

I almost always order the same/similar things…if it doesn’t give me a stomach ache than I consider that success!

I’ve wanted to read that book for a while now! I usually don’t like male authors though so I think that’s been holding me back.

    • Tina says:

Yea food allergies and issues can make a menu more limiting I bet.

I’m liking the book so far, but it is more serious and takes a bit to get into.

  17. chelsey says:

I go through phases with books – I went through this histoical fiction stage a while ago and now I’m going through a young adult’s literature stage and I am reading tons of award winner that my fifth graders are reading! 🙂

  18. Heather says:

i try to branch out sometimes, but if i’m going to a favorite restaurant it’s likely because there’s something that i’m craving from there anyway 🙂

  19. Nicola says:

I’m like you, I pretty much order what I know, sometimes branching out. I try to branch out more, but somtimes you get dissapointed and it’s really annoying! Especially with desserts, i’ll be like ‘I should order something other than chocolate……’ but then I just end up getting something chocolate anyway 😛

  20. Krystal says:

hee hee! as soon as i saw the title of this post i knew there’d be a photo of a fish taco in it! 🙂

  21. Ooooh I love fish tacos! I tend to switch it up, but often end up disappointed that I didn’t get my favorite. I love trying new things, though.

  22. I like trying new things in general … but … if I know I really enjoy something, I order it over and over again. Like, whenever I know that a bar has good nachos, I will *always* order the nachos.

  23. I tend to always order the same thing at restaurants. I know I like it, so why take a chance and then miss out on something I know I already love? Sounds like a great night out with the girls! You look beautiful 🙂

  24. Dorry says:

I tend to order the same thing at my favorite places – when I’ve found something super tasty, it’s hard to order anything else!

  25. I tend to be a sucker for romantic comedies in movies, but I like more suspense in books 🙂

  26. Two days of Mexican food?! That is my dream (and, sometimes, my reality)!

I usually have a go-to order at each restaurant that I frequent, but mix it up based on what I am craving. And I made a pact with my boyfriend that each time we went to The Cheesecake Factory, I would try something new. It’s been fun!

  27. look at you pretty prego ladies! I love it! You and Em met at the perfect time–I have a feeling your two boys will be great friends!

  28. Yum! I’m now in the mood for mexican food! Usually, my food craving is Spicy Thai! It always hit the spot!

  29. Jen says:

Mexican food is my favorite! Yummy! I always order the same thing, why mess with perfection? 😉

I haven’t read that book, but I’ve heard great things about it 🙂

    jen

  30. Ela says:

Ah, you’re on the Larsson bandwagon now! I must be the last person who hasn’t read those books. Have to do something about that soon.

I like to try lots of different things when eating out, but usually there’s only one or two things available, so when I’m somewhere with ‘options,’ I want to try everything!

    love
    Ela

  31. Yummm! Dont you just love mexican food! I love that you went there twice in 24 hours….lol. There has been a few times I did that and I am always ok with it.

I usually stick to the same thing at certain restaurants because there isn’t that many choice for me.

What a cute pic of you doll!

    xxoo

  32. You two look so pretty and well with your bellies 🙂

  33. I tend to get the same thing if I love it–I’m with you on that! I also like to drool over what other people order and remember it for the next time. The chips and salsa look heavenly. I could make a meal on those alone!

  34. You are looking beautiful as ever! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I have a ton of blog reading to catch up on after my big school project is finished.
