Why It’s So Hard

Posted: January 4, 2011 at 8:39 pm

Before I get into the post, can I simply say a huge THANK YOU! It isn’t for anything specific. Simply the continued support you all show by coming back day after day, commenting with uplifting words and fun anecdotes, and helping my little blog develop and me to grow. I have no set plans with this blog except to be myself, have fun, and see where that (and God) takes me. Things have far exceeded any expectations and I have you to thank for a good part of that. So…

So, guess who is still hanging out in my belly? Not only my grilled panini and salad dinner, but also the balled up mass named Braedon. It really shouldn’t frustrate me so much. After all, my due date is not for another 2.5 weeks. I shouldn’t be so over him still chilling in there, but I am. Why? Well, a few reasons.

1. My official due date of January 21st is based off of my first ultrasound. My original due date was January 11th. A week from today. I know when I ovulated because we tracked my cycles. Based on that date, I should reach 40 weeks on the 11th. However, I had a smaller peanut in my belly at the original ultrasound and that pushed my date back 1.5 weeks. How nice. Not.

2. Baby B now measures a week ahead of my official due date. So, in other words, he now measures on track with what my due date should be but there’s no changing it. So I just get listed as carrying a bigger baby. Joy. Not.

3. The entire pregnancy my midwives have told me to expect an earlier delivery. Makenzie came at 38 weeks and the 2nd usually comes sooner than the first. I had contractions starting at around 6 months pregnant and that could lead to an earlier labor. The whole due date scenario meant I should deliver on the earlier side. Remember when they even said their goal was to get me to Christmas? I love being teased like that. Not.

4. I have had more false labor than I thought possible. I don’t think a day has gone by in the past week where I haven’t had at least an hour or two of mild contractions. They never progress. I love the little games my body plays. Not.

5. I have so many signs. I feel dilated. In other words, when I stand up I feel like I have a bowling ball between my legs that I can no longer hold onto and is about to fall out. I have been a nesting mad woman. At least our house is clean. I’ve lost the “plug”. I will leave that there. Even I think that might be TMI to share more about. I have dropped. Baby B isn’t riding so high anymore. My belly suddenly feels smaller and I can breathe again. Shouldn’t this all add up to something? Apparently not.

But I must remember – God’s timing is best. Plus, while he chills in there, I get to do important things. Like play with Makenzie…

…have some extra relaxing nights chilling with my wonderful husband…

…do fun workouts (gotta love Peter’s fabulous action shot while I did a low impact step video a few days ago)…

IMGP9665

…and help watch my nephews so my sister-in-law can get the help she needs when not feeling well (like happened today – and I hope you’re doing better, Marie!).

I’m still ready. But I can be patient.  And I can secretly hope that this post will lead to the irony of me going into labor shortly after publishing. Hey. Just being honest. 😉

Question of the Evening – Let’s have a little fun. When do YOU think Baby B will make his grand appearance based on the above info?

  1. Hang in there Tina – I’m sure he’ll be here soon! Try to stay positive…there are so many girls who would love to be in your shoes:)

I’m guessing he’ll come on the 7th – this Friday! I’m saying a prayer for you!

  2. Here’s a post I wrote, feeling some of the same sentiments with my second: http://www.naptimediaries.com/2008/02/slowly-taking-ride-to-crazytown.html

    Hmmmm….. I say January 16!

    • Tina says:

Haha! Thanks for sharing that post. I feel like I could have written it word for word. And WHY do the medical professionals do this to us? Telling you your baby would be out within a week and me it should be here by now. I just may slap the woman if she says something like that to me again tomorrow. Well, not really…but you know exactly what I mean. LOL

  3. Allison says:

I’m going to go with the 12th, but I hope that it’s sooner for you! Stay strong!

  4. Krystal says:

my guess is saturday, you’ll feel yucky all day and around dinner time, realize that it is, in fact, contractions, but you’ll enjoy dinner before heading to the hospital because you know you might not eat for a while. he’ll be born in the very early hours of sunday.

    but i’m ALWAYS wrong, so…

i HAD to buy fitness magazine and rip out your page. 🙂 M looks soooo little!

love ya honey! hang in there!

    • Tina says:

I know! They used the oldest picture I sent in. LOL I guess they thought she was too cute though.

And I wouldn’t mind it being Saturday. Bring it on. 😀

  5. January 8 since I’m flying to Atlanta that day … I bet when I check your blog on the airplane you’ll be delivering! 🙂 P.S. any good restaurants you’d recommend in the Downtown Atlanta area? Best of luck, Tina! That is interesting … didn’t know you could lose “that” so early before delivering. We were watching the episode of The Office where Pam has her baby and the whole time I was thinking “She should be in a lot of pain right now! Breast-feeding hurts!” and other things I’ve learned through you and my co-workers. Ha ha

  7. Aw, hang in there Momma! I can’t wait to hear the exciting news that you’re headed to the hospital!

  8. I’m gonna bet the 9th. For no good reason. Based entirely on my VAST *cough* medical knowledge.

  9. I’m going to guess the 8th because 8 is my lucky number! But for your sake I hope it’s TODAY! 😉

  10. i think he’ll definitely come early. maybe the 11th, ha!

  11. Emily says:

I just keep opening your blog each day and thinking “todays the day when Tina will be tell us she’s going in to have her baby!!” I really believe it’s going to be in the next week, you’re ready! Thoughts and prayers with you 🙂

  12. I say the 13th. My son was due on September 22nd, I was induced on October 1st and he didn’t arrive until October 3rd! It felt like forever, but he was too happy in my belly, I guess!

  13. I’m gonna guess he’ll arrive in January…which produces some stellar individuals, if I do say so myself. January is actually my least favorite month, but my birthday always gives me something to look forward to in it!!

  14. Man, my water broke 5 or 6 hours after I lost my plug…he should be here definitely sooner than later. I am going to say he will be here by the 11th??!

  15. Dorry says:

I love this post. I can only imagine how ready you are! And with all of those signs it seems like he should be here RIGHT NOW. I think he’ll be here by a week from today…hopefully sooner for your comfort, but I love what you said about God’s timing. I can’t wait for you to meet the little guy!!

  16. Im guessing he’ll come on the 9th. 🙂
The sooner the better, Im getting excited to see that cute little face!

  17. I’ll guess the 11th. Hang in there! Those last couple weeks are hard to wait through, but so worth it in the end. 🙂

Where The Change Happens

Posted: November 16, 2011 at 7:54 am

It’s kind of funny. I become a certified personal trainer and the first workouts I turn to this week come from someone else. The book came in for me at the library last week and, after flipping through it, I couldn’t wait to give the circuits a go. Making The Cut includes a lot of […]
