What My Day Looks Like

Posted: January 19, 2011 at 9:04 pm

I always find it interesting to see how others go about their day to day. I did a post like this awhile back, but as you can imagine, things are a bit different these days. What do my days look like now? Well, a little like this…

Somewhere around 6 am – Braedon wakes up for his last feeding of the night. By this point, I have reached 6-8 hours total sleep and feel well rested. So thankful for a good sleeper!

6:30ish am – Stay awake after baby B eats to pre-write my blog post for the day. Then, catch up on emails and other things waiting for M to wake up.

7:30ish am – Hear Makenzie get up. Bring her downstairs and feed us both breakfast. Oats, peanut butter, and fruit are typically on the menu.

8:00 am – Go wake up Braedon. Situate Makenzie with books to read. Feed the little man his mommy milk breakfast.

8:40 am – Drag everyone upstairs to get dressed and ready for the day.

9:00-10:30 am – Braedon wants to sleep. Makenzie & I chill together. We like to feed Teddy, dance, and play in Hippo tents with books.

10:30 am – Baby B hungry again. Feed him. And read some blogs while nursing. When sitting there with a kiddo sucking away for 30 minutes you have to have distraction sometimes. M usually gets her one TV show during this time too.

More playing follows. Then, lunch. Today featured a pbj sandwich and vanilla Chobani yogurt. We clearly needed to go grocery shopping.

12:30 pm – Get Makenzie settled for her nap. Oh, nap time how I love you. Especially since after B eats again their naptimes overlap. Mommy time!

1 to 3 pm – Pre-write evening blog post, relax some, get things done. Enjoy!!!!

The remainder of the day cycles much the same. Feeding, playing, etc. If an errand needs to happen we fit it in between feedings. Like today – we did in fact make it to the grocery store!!

7 pm – Time for dinner. Tonight my friend Ann brought us over a meal of a brunswick stew with brown rice.

7:30 pm – Time to get the kiddos in bed. Makenzie gets a bath, prayers, and a Bible story. Braedon gets the boob, a swaddle blanket, and the bassinet. Although he did have his first bath the other night.

8ish to 10ish pm – Come downstairs and chill with the husband. Tonight will involve watching Parenthood, talking, and chocolate chip cookies (courtesy of Ann as well).

10ish pmHit the hay…just to wake up around 2 to feed baby B, fall back asleep, and repeat the whole thing yet another day. It may not be the most adventurous life, but I sure love our little days. 🙂

Question of the Evening – What is your favorite part of your typical day?

  1. I’m super impressed with how under control and scheduled you have everything! I’m sure this is just a general overview, though… as we all know flexibility is key!!! So happy to see/hear you have help from your woonderful hubby and friends. And even more glad to hear that Baby B is such a good sleeper! Whew, that must be a relief!

  2. Shannon says:

I hope when I have baby #2, it is as easy as you make it seem! I m so happy to hear how much joy you are getting out of your days. I love when Noah wakes up from a long nap…. He is so smiley and it just makes my day!

  3. Haha you’re glowing Tina! You don’t even seem to have recently given birth 😛 Thanks so much for visiting my blog by the way! hahahaha I was like, dear-in-headlights-gazing at the comment! I know my blog is VERY new and didn’t think/expect anyone to even see it. Very thankful for your encouragement <3

  4. Thanks for sharing! Sounds like you have a nice little routine already! I’m so impressed by how well things have transitioned with Braedon. Like I said before, this gives me hope for someday 🙂 I, too, am fascinated by how others go about their day. I don’t think days have to be full of adventures to be happy!

I think the favorite part of my day is first thing in the morning when H wakes up… he’s usually all smiles and well-rested, and has a big smile when he sees me walk into his room. I love our happy little mornings together!

  5. Heather says:

You are a fantastic mom! The favorite part of my day is after dinner when we all finally have some time to hang out after our busy days. Lately we’ve been playing board games. 🙂

  6. Allie says:

Aww, it sounds like your day is VERY awesome! It has a lot of balance between kiddo time, mommy time, and mommy + daddy time 🙂 Have a good day!

  7. 1. You are gorgeous!
    2. I loved reading about your daily schedule! Thanks for sharing.
    3. I’m sure some days are rougher, but a schedule is SO helpful. When I got married my husband was all about a schedule and it’s helped me so much – to be more productive, to get more sleep, and to just feel more at ease during the day, knowing what’s coming up.

  8. Jess says:

Once again, I’m floored by you. Your “day” seems so, well, normal and not chaotic or crazy or frenzied like I assume moms with an infant at home would feel. Maybe I just have NO idea what mommyhood is all about OR you’re just the best mom around…or BOTH! 😉

    • Tina says:

It is pretty hectic, but not in a bad way at all. And the 2nd time around has been much easier to get into. I was a mess after M for the first month.

  9. It looks like you already have a nice routine down. You look great! 🙂

Reading to my kids is one of my favorite parts of the day. I just love snuggling up together with a good book.

  10. Aww sounds like fun! I can still remember days like that with my mom when I was little.
My favorite part of the day is either breakfast/blog reading or snuggling with the BF at the end of the day 🙂

  11. My favorite part of my day is right before bed. My man always stays up much later than me to get extra work done, but every night he climbs in bed with me and we talk and laugh for about 30 minutes to an hour before I go to sleep <3

  12. Sounds like a good! Baby B is adorable! Love his first bath photos! The favorite part of my day is either my ride home from work (because I’m going home!) or watching TV with my husband. (We love Parenthood too. I was so far behind I had to catch up via Hulu on my laptop!)

  13. Mandy says:

Man you guys have a great schedule already!! So happy for you! So happy B sleeps so well too!! 🙂

My fav part of the day is 2-fold… I love going to get Bella in the morning. Nothing sweeter than her first thing in the morning 🙂 Second favorite time… after bedtime for Bella so I can have some much needed time with hubby to hang out 🙂

  14. You’re such a wonderful, beautiful mom!

  15. You are busy, but organized at least! I’d say I’m glad that B is such an easy baby but I don’t want to jinx you.

  16. Hippo tents?! Sign me up!!! 🙂

  17. I liked reading about your day! Being a mom is a busy job, but it’s the most amazing job in the world!

  18. My 2 yr old was upset when she saw the picture of B crying, she said “Oh no! Baby cwying! Why?” but then she felt better at the next picture of you hold him because she said, “Aw, Mommy so happy!” 🙂

She very much enjoyed this post! And so did I 🙂 Baby B is so cute!

  19. Summer says:

Your babies are so precious! It’s interesting to see a day in the life of a mom of two little ones. My favorite part of my dad would have to be right after I get off work, at 5pm, and I can start buzzing around the kitchen, trying to find something to make for dinner.

  20. I have days like that though often Momma/babysitter time is occupied by trying to get all the dishes done so I can keep a closer eye on the small inhabitants of my home.

My favorite time of the day is momma/monkey time. We do story time, and then after lights out I lay with him and we talk about his day, what tomorrow might bring and we close out with a prayer and a bit of snuggling. Will miss this when he is to cool for mom.

  21. Kacy says:

My favorite part is the last few hours before bed when I can take a bath, have a nice meal and relax. Your day looks super busy but fun and full of love 🙂

  22. Jolene says:

Love this! Your day sounds pretty great so far, even with the newborn. Again, amazed.

I love reading your routine! I also think it’s so great you get some time for yourself during the day..and can chill out with the hubby at night!!

My favorite part of the day is coming home after work and gym. I feel like I’ve accomplished something! Then I get to cook up something delicious!

  25. LOL! I love how you just call it “the boob”. 😛 So funny. Sounds like what I would say.

  26. Honestly – I seriously hope my day looks exactly like that within the next 10 years 🙂 You’re such a good wife/mommy!!!

  27. baby B has such an adorable face! ahhhhhhh! ^.^ Wow a mother has like 4 jobs altogether. And the stew looks delicious. have a blessed day!!~

It’s kind of funny. I become a certified personal trainer and the first workouts I turn to this week come from someone else. The book came in for me at the library last week and, after flipping through it, I couldn’t wait to give the circuits a go. Making The Cut includes a lot of […]
