Guess What I Did Today?

Posted: February 28, 2011 at 8:09 pm

As my Facebook & Twitter pals (are you one?) already know, I went to spin!!!!

 group cycle sign

It was my first time back since having Braedon. I was a little nervous before heading out this morning for class. This tweet speaks for itself as to why.

I remember my very first spin class. I remember hurting in a particular region for days afterwards. I remember also having a padded bike seat that time. There was no padded seat today. There was also no air conditioning. There was only me…and the bike.

I totally asked a random fellow spinner to take that picture. Blurry shot is what you get!

And lots of sweat. Spinning in basically a sauna is no joke. I took the photo below after having the chance to air out for about 20 minutes.

Ick. Luckily, I had another first time moment that worked perfectly to cool me off.

That, my friends would be banana soft serve. You can pick your jaws up off the ground now. I know I waited way, way, way too long to try this. Honestly, I just kept forgetting to freeze bananas! It only took me a year to remember. And I have to say, I don’t think I will forget to freeze bananas anymore.

Banana soft serve with a sprinkle of honey + a chocolate vitatop = a great snack.

Banana soft serve + Makenzie = a happy kid with “ice cream” = a happy mommy!

Anything else I need you all to smack me upside the head to finally try? I promise I’ll return the favor to get you into spin class. I survived today, after all. Hip-hip-hooha-ray!

Question of the Evening – Is there anyone else out there yet to try banana soft serve? For the many of you who have…what’s your favorite “mix-in” or topping?

So glad that there’s another adult out there who eats out of take n’ toss containers, too! I think that’s my favorite ice cream bowl!!

    • Tina says:

They’re the perfect size for so many things! And I love that you recognized it too. Gotta love motherhood. 🙂

  2. Mary says:

I haven’t tried it before because I’m too lazy to clean the food processor afterwards. Yes, that is a terrible excuse.

Also, you look fantastic! (and very happy :))

  3. YAY for spin!! I haven’t been in awhile and am taking a class on Thursday morning. I can imagine it would be scary after giving birth though!!

  4. Yay for spin class – it’s my favorite workout every week! And can I just say that I’m totally jealous that your studio has the new LeMonde bikes?! My gym has the old version & we’re hoping for an upgrade this year!

I haven’t tried banana soft serve yet… I guess I need to get a food processor so I can!

  5. If it’s anything I miss about having a gym membership, it is SPIN!!! I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Spin!!! And miss it dearly!! =( It’s a TOUGH workout and I always feel GREAT afterwards! I am jealous but also happy for you!!!

OMG! Ive never heard of this banana soft serve you speak of! I Must try this NOW!!

(Oh, got your email reply too. THANKS! gonna try to get back to you today ive been so busy)!

  6. Kim says:

I’m heading straight to the freezer with bananas so I can try this. It looks delicious and you look great – kudos for getting your random spinning partner to take your pic!

  7. AmyLauren says:

Banana soft serve is really yummy- and so ironic, because I actually put a banana that was going to go bad soon into my freezer last night so that I can have it today or tomorrow, haha :). It’s basically like banana ice cream and really good with Greek yogurt or PB :).

  8. Stacy says:

I have still yet to try banana soft serve but I have been plotting my first attempt for the past couple of days. Now that I see you took the plunge, I guess I should go for it too! Congrats on getting back to spin! And your arms look great and toned in that pic!

  9. erin says:

Ooh – that is a great snack for Makenzie. I have to try with my boys.

And I also have to get the nerve to ask a fellow gym goer to snap my picture. LOL! That’s funny!

  10. Banana soft serve rules!! I love to plop in a spoonful of peanut butter or a little cacao powder (or both!) 😀

  11. Emily says:

I really, really hope I look like you one day (a looong time from now 🙂 ) after having a baby. You definitely motivate me already to stay in shape and take care of myself! Also…nice guns.

  12. side note: your arms look amazing.

  13. Sarah says:

Mmm…banana soft serve. My favorite mix-in is peanut butter.

  14. Mandy says:

I actually have a banana freezing right now for my dessert tonight! It will be my first time making it! I have some choco chips to add in-I can’t wait!
I also tried Chobani vanilla yogurt for the first time today! I added in a 1/4 cup of Fiber Once cereal and it was amazing and filling! I love it! Now if I didn’t have to drive an hour away to get it:(

  15. Kelly says:

Two things…both about pictures that you posted. First, the picture on the bike is awesome…check out those arms…FABULOUS! Second, the picture of M licking the banana soft serve makes me want children…like yesterday!

  16. I LOVE banana soft serve! My first mix-in was a tablespoon of coarsely chopped walnuts … yum.

But my fave is a little peanut butter and cocoa powder. Pure heaven.

  17. Coco says:

So you just purée frozen sliced bananas? Do you newd to add milk or yogurt? I may never make banana bread from aging bananas again!

My first reaction to your spin picture was how great your arms look. Then I wondered who took the picture. 😉

    • Tina says:

I didn’t have to add anything to mine at all. It turned out perfectly too. I think you can add some yogurt or other fruits and things for different flavro though. 🙂

  18. Mmm, haven’t had banana soft serve since the summer – I need to make some soon!

Congrats on making it to spin. 🙂

  19. Anna says:

My favorite mix-in is frozen cherries with just a sprinkling of chocolate chips (not too many). I’m not even much of a cherry person in general, but I think it works really well withe the bananas. Strawberries (my favorite fruit) tend to be too weak of a flavor and just get lost in the banana-ness of it all.
