Hard Core And Old School

Posted: March 4, 2011 at 8:29 pm

Apparently this week I have been on a group fitness class kick. I woke up this morning and all I wanted to do for my workout was spin. So, I did. The class was KILLER. I have two favorite spin instructors. One is highly goofy, tells crazy stories, and gets you pumped up to sing and “dance” along to the music. The other is hard-core, tells it like its, and screams at you like a drill sergeant. Spin instructor #2 whooped my butt today. And I loved every hard core minute.

Afterwards, I had some organizing to do. I needed to go ahead and store all the clothes I found for B + M at consignment sales.

 consignment clothes

I always buy more than enough because then each item gets less overall wear so I can re-sell it down the line in nicer condition. I got all of those clothes for around $200 and will easily be able to make close to that back when I consign them later. Win-win.

While organizing, I also had to find a place to put some things my mom brought over for me this week. So weird to look back on these things. I didn’t even know I still had them! Then again, it doesn’t surprise me. My mom keeps everything.

Old cheerleading uniforms…

Old painted t-shirts to wear to football games for spirit…

My first homecoming/prom dress…

 homecoming dress

I loved that dress! And still do. I know I won’t be able to bring myself to sell it or donate it. Although I had fun at the numerous dances I went to, I don’t keep it for any sentimental value. Heck no! It’s just so pretty! Maybe M can wear it one day? She does love dresses!

Lastly, a quick question. Has my blog been giving you problems? My site’s server has been giving me a headache with my blog not loading properly a lot of the time. Sometimes only half the page loads. Comments get cut off. Pictures, ads, subscription options, etc don’t show up on the sidebars. It takes forever to open the dang thing. Annoying. I apologize if you have noticed the same.

Question of the Evening – What style of gym instructor do you like? And do you have anything from your high school days?

  1. I go back and forth with what kind of instructor I like – sometimes I like one that yells at me and other times I just want someone to make me excited for the workout. Either way it’s a win win!!

Your site hasn’t been giving me any problems at all!

  2. I haven’t had any problems with your site at all. I like a hard-core instructor, although I don’t really like group exercise classes all that much.

  3. Helen says:

Depending on my mood depends on what type of instructor I want.

Love the idea with the clothes. I love consignment shopping 🙂

  4. I think the only thing I have from high school is a long sleeved Pearl Jam shirt. Oh, and a pair of Doc Martens!

I haven’t taken many group classes, so I have no input on that particular subject 🙂

  5. I still have my prom dresses at my parents’ house. Funny thing is I may be using one for a pub crawl that is in the works in the future… 😉

  6. Cute prom dress! I can see that your favorite color was still green back then! =) My prom dress was blue. I’m totally not sure if I’d wear it again… bad memories, lol.

  7. I like the instructor who will push you but isn’t too mean. Like Bob from the Biggest Loser although I’d love someone to kick my butt every now and again.

I still have my prom dress at my mom’s. I don’t know what to do with it.

You site does load really slow for me.

  8. I don’t really enjoy instructors who yell, but I love the ones who challenge you and help you achieve something you didn’t think you were even capable of achieving.

  9. I am on a spin kick lately too! And as long as the instructor doesn’t “woo!!!” into the mic, I can overlook the rest 🙂

  10. Becca says:

No problems with the site for me!

Since I graduated two years ago… I still have a LOT of stuff from high school. I haven’t grown much, just added some clothes to the closet. 🙂 I still have my graduation gown someplace… even though I’ll probably never use it again…

  11. ahhh i’m glad you’re keeping the dress! absolute worst case scenario — pillows for M’s room someday! hehe — who doesnt love mint green and sparkle!? <3

omg girl my spin instructor is like a DRILL SARGENT! actually… its on a USMC base… she may actually be one! yowza!

  12. Hahahahah I found some old painted homecoming shirts last year!! I tossed em, but it was funny to reminisce about the old days! 🙂

  13. Danica says:

I love an instructor that is bossy and pushes you to your hard-working limits-best motivator!

  14. I love the bubbly, high energy, goofy instructor. I have a step instructor who is like that and I look forward to seeing her every Sunday morning. She is still bouncing and shaking her booty after an hour of step – she makes me laugh, which makes me keep wanting to go!

  15. Rach says:

Aww, I totally hold onto dresses that I love. That’s why I have princess parties twice a year – just so I have an excuse to get all dressed up again! 😀

  16. I’ve never had a fitness instructor, but I hope they would be down-to-earth and like good music. 🙂

  17. haha I’m 23 and not married yet so I have plentyyyy of stuff from H.s.! 😀 And I looooooooooove no nonsense kick my rear instructors (who hopefully don’t yell unnecessarily) who aren’t lenient. lol. I sound workout suicidal 😛

  18. i had that EXACT same cheerleading uniform – just in red, gold and white instead 🙂

  19. Anne Marie says:

I’m so sentimental about all that stuff too!! Hubby made me donate some of the bridesmaids dresses. It’s hard to part with memories like that!!

  20. I’m IN LOVE with my senior prom dress. I don’t think I’ll ever give it up. IN fact, sometimes I try it on. Just for kicks. hahah

Have a fantastic Saturday, love 🙂

  21. Sarah R says:

I still have my senior prom dress. I’m not sure I’ll ever let it go. I also realized the other day that I still have t-shirts and sweatshirts from my high school days. Yikes!

  22. I still have yet to go to a spin class but everytime I read your thoughts on it I want to go! I need to find one in my area to try out. Have a great Saturday, Tina!

  23. Jennifer Rahn says:

I love the pic of M in the shoes. That is just beyond precious. What a happy girl you make her!
