Look & Listen

Posted: March 12, 2010 at 5:42 pm

Hey lovelies! How are you all today? I'm doing great! I mean, it is Friday! Fun Fact Friday time. You knew it was coming...so figure out the truth.

1. I only have one kidney from a complication I had at birth. It was removed when I was 5 days old.

2. I have a long scar across my left butt cheek. And it will itch like crazy sometimes. Attractive, right?

Are we ready to Look & Listen now? I have had two chance to really look and listen today. First came this morning, when a certain visitor finally arrived this month if you catch my drift. And I immediately was fine with it, all that purging helped I guess. I also immediately looked at the positive. My body is still functioning properly and this is a sign of health. Boo-yah for that!

I decided to honor that health by hitting up the gym for some lifting fun in a Group Power class. 'Twas a fantastic one today. My butt already hurts a bit. Even more awesome was having the instructor see me with Makenzie on the way out and say "Wow! You have a baby? You look really really great. That is an inspiration." And then to Makenzie - "your mommy works super hard in my classes. She is awesome." How nice was that?! And instead of doing the typical thing we women do, try to play the compliment down or think in my head "Well, I used to be in better shape" or anything negative, I just listened. I thanked her and took it to heart. I chose to believe it and feel good about it. Heck, yea. I am doing pretty good for myself fitness wise. I'm healthy. That's all I think anyone can care to be. Of course, all from listening to my body. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now for some fun!!! Some things for your looking and listening pleasure ๐Ÿ˜€

Look! The trailer for Eclipse is out now. I am a total Twilight fan (mainly because I love the books so much it leads me to enjoy the movies), so I was excited to see this. And of course share with any other lovers out there.

Listen! This is a song that I have liked a lot for awhile now. And it fits perfectly with things going on for me now too. I think it is a beautiful song and I hope you get the chance to listen to it as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • What great things have you seen or heard recently?
  • Do you like Twilight? The books or the movies? I love the books! I didn't think the movie Twilight was too great, but New Moon was done much better. I'm excited to see how they do Eclipse since the 3rd and 4th books were by far the best in the series.

Great things I have seen: My kids playing well together!
Great things I have heard– I love when I hear that my kids are cute (duh! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) But what really warms my soul is when I hear that they are caring, compassionate, kind and well behaved. People also call Amara an “old soul” — she is 5.

I have only seen Twlight so far and did enjoy it. I plan on watching it again before I see New Moon.
I am currently reading Breaking Dawn and can’t wait to read what happens next. Bella is about to get married ( or is she?!?! haha!)

  2. I can’t really get into Twilight, I think because I watched True Blood first, and it just made me feel like Twilight was so young. I loooove True Blood.

  3. Mellissa says:

#2 is the true one. I liked the Twilight books but really didn’t care for the first movie and I have not seen the 2nd one yet. Like Jessica I am much more of a fan of True Blood.

  4. Krista says:

My random guess is #2. The other seems too far fetched, LOL! Watch me be wrong.

I love your instructor, I wish more ladies would encourage other ladies like that! I know I often skip on opportunities to compliment strangers and it’s something I want to start doing more instead of just thinking it in my head. I know that can make my day so I would love to do the same for someone else. Enjoy your weekend!

  5. lisaou11 says:

Ah the listening part is hard. I love when you just accepted her complimenet, realized it was true and just moved forward with it instead of thinking “i used to be in better shape, or you shouldve seen me 6 months ago”. B/c shes right–you are in great shape and you DO work hard! Love it!

I loved your comment on my post last night. I would love love loooove to meet you someday. I totally look up to you and how you view life and how honest you are with it and it would be such a treat to get to meet you!

  6. Does looking at Johnny Depp in Alice in Wonderland count as something I’ve seen recently?? LOL. I have only managed to read the 1st 2 Twilight books. They’re ok, nothing awe inspiring. If someone gives me the rest of the series, I’ll read them. But, I’m not likely to make an effort to rush out and purchase them.

  7. Sarah says:

I LOVE that compliment from the instructor- and I love that you took it in!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve found that since I’ve had a baby I’m more open to compliments. I mean, if someone tells me how cute my kid is, I would never point out one of his flaws to deflect the compliment, right? Maybe having a baby makes us a little more open to really hearing the nice things people have to say?
All that being said- you do look amazing (&not just for having a baby)!!

  8. lindsayruns says:

Ok so that preview was the first time I’ve really wanted to read the books. I mean I work in a middle school so you know I discuss this book series with tweens EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. And look at the sweatshirts/bags/binders. While a lot of teachers have read them, I have refused so far…but that preview is intriguing.

I’m gonna vote for #2 because I want to hear the story behind it. (and your thought string was behind the fake one too… seriously, you have a great imagination either way!)

  9. eatmovelove says:

This is great!! I am a Twilight fan as well…after reading the books – which were soooo “high school”…but sooooo addictive ;)….y’know I haven’t seen the second movie yet though! I know – blasphemy! It’s coming out on video in a couple of weeks though woohoo ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. GAHHHH you are my new favorite person for posting the Eclipse trailer!! And I feel like a horrible fan for not seeing it yet, hahahah ๐Ÿ˜›

  11. I think its number 1.

I like Twilight. For some reason I’m more of a fan of the movies than the books. Rare, I know!

  12. Jenn N. says:

I can’t get into Twilight. I’m so behind in pop culture it’s ridiculous! However, my hubby bought the soundtrack and it has some cool bands on it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Haha I love the Eclipse trailer! Yea I think I like the movies more only because I watched them first. But I’m definitely Team Jacob all the way!

  14. Nelly says:

You need to read The purpose of man by Tozer. I cannot get enough of it!

I understand your hopes for the Positive test BUT God is in control and his timing is best ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Heather says:

OMG I can’t wait for the movie to come out! I read all the books which made me love the movies too.

  16. kbwood says:

AHH I AM DYING TO SEE THAT MOVIE!!
girl, praying for you. keep up the faith, you are such a great testimony of Gods perseverance

  17. Girl, thank you so much for sharing that song!! I heard it on the radio the other day and it literally gave me tingles because it relates so much to what I’m going through too with my stress fracture. And i’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!!
P.S. thanks for the shout out! but my name is Jessica, not Lauren ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Tina says:

Oh my goodness!!! So sorry. I don’t know what I was thinking. Too much on my mind and blonde in my hair. Please forgive me ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. thanks for the comment you left me re finding friends, online friends turning into real life friends and meeting up with a long-known online friend finally in real life…that’s awesome!

your scar and your kidney..wow girl, that’s total honesty and i admire that!

and re what you shared to me, I am praying for you guys and wishing you the best ๐Ÿ™‚
    xoxo

I love the “look and listen” concept, very cool. And good for you for taking that compliment! That is something I’ve been battling myself – always brushing off compliments vs. just accepting them gracefully. I mean, we work hard for these results, why are we downplaying them, right??
