3 Reasons I’m Jealous Of My Kids

Posted: May 24, 2011 at 7:08 pm

Because you can be jealous of your children, right? I mean, come on…

My kids have meals prepared and served to them by simply saying “please”.

I would like my plate of cantaloupe, strawberries, egg, and cheese served up on a silver platter as well. Although, let’s make my order a giant flavorful salad with a side of cheesecake.

My kids have mad talent. Talent way better than my “I can eat a surprising amount of dessert” talent.

Do you see M’s fantastic art skills? I’m quite impressed that my 2 year old drew herself with no help whatsoever and it actually looks like a person. And Braedon? Well he has a super knack for looking cute.

And the number one reason? My kids get naps.

Oh the irony that the ones who drain my energy sources are the ones who get the break.

  • What is something you wish you could have/do that kids have/do?

  1. I wish I could nap whenever I want to as well!

  2. Erica says:

hehe – this post is too cute 🙂 I just wish I could have that almost completely care free attitude back!

  3. Kathleen says:

I could definitely go for a chef and nap right about now :-).

  4. Michelle says:

I’m definitely jealous of the naps — and the SUPER DUPER fast metabolism. Eat whatever I want (within reason) and not have a care in the world? Sign me up please!

  5. Tina, nap when they nap 🙂

I love kids innocence.. they know no wrong in the world.

    PS. MISS YOU!

    • Tina says:

I laugh at the idea of napping when they nap. Only because any time I try that they end up waking up…and then I want to cry. 😉

      Miss you too!!!!

  6. Definitely nap time. I didn’t appreciate it back in the day. 😉

  7. Now I’m jealous of your kids too, Tina! I want to take naps! 😉

  8. Definitely serve me food and drive me around! This was so spot on Tina!

  9. Maria says:

    Haha. I love it.

I used to babysit kids and would be jealous of them all the time! When I’d desperately need a nap, they would fight one with everything they had.

I’m also jealous of kids’ energy. I’d like bottle it up and take it to the gym with me.

  10. i LOVED those etch a sketch things!!! they were so fun!!! is skip it still around?! oh man I lived for skip it! kept me busy for so long!

kids really do have the life…. 😉

  11. I wish all I had to do was go to school and not have cleaning or bills to worry about.

  12. Love this. I wish I had the total abandon kids can have when it comes to just having a darn good time!

  13. I really feel that adults should get naps too 😉 Precious babies you have.

  14. Alisha says:

Ha ha…so true! I’m jealous of their energy and pure joy about every little thing they see that’s new!

  15. Parita says:

You’re kids are so freakin’ cute! And for me the #1 thing I want to do that I did as a kid is nap — during the day at work. Let me tell you, not.going.to.happen!

  16. lindsay says:

food and naps, oh to be a kid again. If only they knew….
    hehe.

  17. I wish I could be carried / pushed around in a stroller when I get tired! That was my favorite part of being tiny 🙂

  18. I’m jealous of no responsibilities and the only thing on the agenda? Play, play, play. 🙂

  19. Lauren says:

Oh my, napping whenever I wanted to would be glorious. Now I’m jealous of them too! 🙂

  20. Kids live IN the moment, no questions asked. And they laugh a lot more….I am working on doing both more regularly and with gusto!!

  21. I so wish I took naps during the day! And I wish I could cry and have someone wait on me hand and foot trying to figure out why I am crying 🙂

  22. erica says:

    NAPS!!!
i’m so jealous kids get nap time!
    adults need nap time too!

  23. Lee says:

    Naps for sure!

  24. Stacy says:

Ha! So cute! I wish I still got daily naps too. And that my imagination was as wild as it once was.

  25. Hahahaha Tina, I love how you put that, the kids drain our energy then they get to take a nap. So true!!!

I love his pudgy little arm. Makes me want to go upstairs and stare at my sleeping baby.

  26. I wish I had the energy I had as a kid. I remember playing non-stop all day. I can’t imagine eating enough to expend all those calories now, and even properly fueled I don’t think I could be that active!

  27. Melie says:

I wish I could be taken care of again. And that magic ability of the house to be cleaned without effort is also amazing! 🙂

  28. I wish I could be cooked for and have nap time too! I also wish I had all the abundant free time.. Also, when you’re a kid, time goes by slower. I hate how fast life is passing by!

  29. I’m with you…I’d love to have my son’s 2.5 hour nap everyday!

  30. Colleen says:

All three of those sound great to me! Sometimes I wish I could whine about having to take a shower or bath. 🙂

    • Tina says:

Haha! I do that every day anyways. I hate the time it takes to shower, get dressed, dry hair. Hence my sitting in my stinky post run clothes as I type. 😉

  31. Kelly says:

When I was a kid my Dad used to blow dry my hair every night when I got out of the shower. I would love to have someone blow dry my hair for me now!

  32. Ugh, I hear you on the food issue. My mom used to set my breakfast on the table next to my bed so it would be there when I woke up. When I got in high school, she added a hot cup of coffee to go with it. I would consider criminal activity for someone to leave a bowl of cereal with some hot coffee by my bed so it would be all ready for me when I woke up.

    • Tina says:

That is some serious special treatment from the momma. I love that she did that for you. So sweet!

  33. oh how i miss nap time! and also having someone do my laundry for me! (sigh)

  34. My kids have energy at night when I am falling asleep. My kids only eat when they are hungry and have metabolisms that I can only dream of!

  35. Kat @ Living Like the Kings says:

Everything!!! I want someone to take care of me, feed me, buy me cute clothes, entertain me, give lots of naps, and hug an kiss me all day.

    • Tina says:

The buying clothes thing would be SO nice! I could use some shopping…but instead I will have to shop for diapers.

  36. Cara says:

What an adorable post! Kids sure do have it good!
The joys of still being a college kid, is that nap time can still exist 🙂

  37. Robyn says:

I recently wrote a post called Nap Time! How ironic! You will have to go check it out. Tina, you always have such cute kid picts.

  38. hahaha so cute! I’m jealous that kids can do almost about anything looking goofy and “strange” and everyone will think it’s cute, including myself. 😛 Now if I ACT like that all the time ( I only do it half of the time you know?) then I get weird stares!

  39. Elaine says:

The naps for sure! But I am also jealous of the fact my baby thinks everything is so funny!

  40. I’m jealous that time seems to stand still for them. The older I get, the faster the days go by. And also the lack of responsibility that kids have. When you’re adult, you HAVE TO do a lot of things you don’t want to do; when you’re a kid, all you’re responsible for is playing & obeying mom & dad. Ah, to have the simple slow life again. 😉
