More Than You Think

From your comments, you all seem to notice the happiness consuming me right now. It’s true. I’m happy! Happy happy happy! I do still have some pain (don’t read the next sentence if can’t handle TMI). My milk has arrived and makes my chest hurt like crazy. I also suffered a 2nd degree tear “down there” during delivery. Despite the pain, and the adjustment, things are so much better than I could have ever anticipated.

It could have something to do with Braedon being such a sweetheart of a baby. I have not had a single issue nursing him. He sleeps very well. He doesn’t fuss a ton.

It could have something to do with this being our second child. Knowing what to expect makes it feel a lot more manageable. We can figure out his needs and problem solve situations MUCH quicker than we did with a brand new baby M.

It could have something to do with being surrounded by such supportive family and friends. Having people show their love for you always feels good.

In reality, each of those things plays a very significant role in my chipper mood. Something else does as well. The blog.

After giving birth to Makenzie things were hard. Very hard. I teeter-tottered on borderline post-partum depression. I questioned if I was really ready to be a mom and if I had made some sort of massive error. I cried with thoughts that I had nothing left of me. I swung back and forth from extreme highs to very, very extreme lows. Things got better after a couple weeks, but I still felt a bit off and unlike myself.

Taking around 30-45 mins a couple times a day to sit, write, express myself, and put energy into something all my own truly helps. It helps me be a better mom. It helps me be a less emotional and crazy wife. It helps me reflect on the beauty of my life and the overabundance of blessings filling it right now. It helps me keep perspective and not to forget that I matter too. For that reason, I am forever thankful for this space and for you all. It helps more than you can imagine. I do it for me, but I also do it for my family. I do it for me, but I also do it for you. I do it because I love it and can really see the difference it makes. Thank goodness for FFF and its supporters is all I have to say!

Question of the Day – Do you have an activity you really make an effort to have time for yourself? How does it help you?

It Feels So Nice…

It feels so nice…to have family to visit.

My parents are here for a couple of days to help us out. My sister-in-law, Marie, stopped by as well. She has helped us out so much with Makenzie. You can even say hello to her on her brand new blog!

It feels so nice…to get the chance to sleep on my stomach again. Not sure if the milk vehicles will allow it tonight, but I enjoyed every moment last night.

It feels so nice…to get a clean bill of health. We made it to the pediatrician appointment and everything still looks wonderful with Braedon.

It feels so nice…to feel pretty normal. Life just keeps on. I’ve even managed to get some laundry done.

It feels so nice…to have a real meal! My dad cooked up some chicken cacciatore with mashed potatoes and green beans. Yum!

It feels so nice…to have a small glass of red wine. I still had to time it so it wasn’t too close to B’s feeding time, but enjoyable nevertheless.

It feels so nice…to know life is just as it should be.

Question of the Evening – What “feels so nice” for you right now? And are you a stomach, side, or back sleeper?

Where The Change Happens

Posted: November 16, 2011 at 7:54 am

It’s kind of funny. I become a certified personal trainer and the first workouts I turn to this week come from someone else. The book came in for me at the library last week and, after flipping through it, I couldn’t wait to give the circuits a go. Making The Cut includes a lot of […]
