Breakfast All Day

Catching up from the weekend?

I don’t know why, but the past few weekends have been very chill. Typically our weekends zoom by with so much to do. I like having a full plate of fun activities, but I admit it has felt nice to have some low-key time recently. This weekend was perfect for it, too! Our forecast looked like this basically the entire weekend…

weather

Cloudy. Rainy. Chilly. Dreary. We did just what that type of weather entails.

On Saturday, after my intense workout, we spent the day visiting my parents. It included lots of snuggles on the couch while my mom continues to get adjusted to her new treatments for Multiple Sclerosis. I don’t like seeing her not feel well. I think a couple cuties helped cheer her up, though.

mom&b mom&m

Saturday night we all hit the hay early. At 9 pm I wanted bed. Then, we all slept until about 8:30 (well, besides the 3am feeding). Not quite sure how that happened, but I’ll take it. You would think with the extra sleep we would set out for a productive morning.

oats&sausage

I fueled properly with 1/3 cup oats, 1/2 container Peach Chobani, a dollop of melted peanut butter, and an apple chicken sausage. Then, proceeded to plop on the couch.

beauty&beast

Watching Beauty & The Beast cuddled up on the couch together felt like a better idea than anything deemed “productive”. I have to say – nothing compares to the Disney classics. I now want a marathon Disney day with Aladdin, Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Bambi, and Dumbo.

I did finally manage to peel myself out of my PJs for lunch.

pbbmuffin

I had an english muffin with peanut butter and banana. Something about icky weather makes me crave simple, breakfast food so I went with it. Plus, it makes for a good pre-run meal if I give it enough time to digest fully. I had to run on the treadmill because I didn’t feel like braving the chill or chance of rain. I did some intervals to keep the boredom from setting in.

Minutes Speed
0-5 6.0
5-10 6.5
10-15 7.0
15-20 6.0
20-25 6.5
25-30 7.0
30-35 6.0
35-40 6.5
40-45 7.0

In the end, I covered 4.86 miles in my 45 minutes for an average pace of 9:15.

After that I came home craving MORE breakfast food! If I want breakfast three times a day and then a big stir-fry for dinner, so be it.

scramble cereal

This time I went for a small bowl of cheerios with strawberries, almonds, & almond milk and a repeat of that tasty egg scramble on the side. I foresee a new obsession with these combos. Quite satisfying.

To end out my weekend, I deemed the run worthy productivity and then curled up with my kiddos again. This time, with some books. I think that’s the best productivity out there anyways. ;)

Questions of the Day –

  • What is your favorite classic Disney movie?
  • What things do you crave on cloudy, chilly, rainy days?

Sumo Fashion Show?

Peter had to travel to New York this weekend for his grandmother’s funeral. The kids and I stayed back because financially (3 plane tickets @ $600/piece? NO!) and logistically (driving 14+ hours with a 6 week old? NO!) all of us traveling didn’t really work. Before he left for the weekend we headed out for a family night out.

Yet again, we had a Groupon to use. Somehow we always end up waiting until the last minute with these things. We headed out to Tin Drum Asia Cafe.

They specialize in a variety of noodle, curry, and fried rice bowls. And apparently special fashion shows. Perhaps we wouldn’t have body image issues if these were the standard for fashion shows? 😉

sumo fashion show

I went before, to the restaurant – not the fashion show - and tried a curry bowl. This time, I went for a noodle bowl since I would have to share with miss M. I ordered the Lo Men which included shrimp, mushrooms, carrots, onions, green onions, bok choy, and of course the noodles in a light sauce.

It was good, but I’m glad we had the Groupon. I don’t know if its worth the full price. What is worth the full price? Frozen yogurt. Always. A Yogli Mogli sits across the street from the Tin Drum and I had my eye on going there from the beginning. What can I say? I always have a hankering for dessert!

I somehow managed to feast on that creation and still not feel 100% full. Eat like that and still fit in jeans 6 weeks post partum that took you months to fit into post-Makenzie? Gotta love nursing! ;)

Question of the Day – Which would you order: Noodle, Curry, Rice? Sumo fashion show – intriguing or scary?
