Argh, Matey!

I am loving this Saturday! It has been a whirlwind of fun and good things from the get-go. Peter had a nice surprise for me in the morning (get your thoughts out of the gutter!) and then I had a quick cardio session at the gym. Normally I do some sort of class on Saturdays, but today I knew I had to get done early and instead did a mix of different machines. I brought my Harlan Coben book along to keep me company for about 45 minutes of light cardio mixed between walking on the treadmill and going nice and steady on the stepmill. It felt great!

After that, I headed home to shower and pack up things for the busy day ahead. We had three fun things on plan for the day and I was ready to get going. We left around 11:00 am to take the 45 minute drive south of Atlanta to have some Medieval fun. At the Renaissance Festival!

I haven’t been to the Renaissance Festival in at least 15 years. It was a lot of fun though. We got to see many interesting things. Like some horse performances, a woman performing on stilts and a trapeze, and a bird show.

And what would a Renaissance Festival be without some jousting shows. Although, we didn’t really catch any pictures of the actual jousting since we had to leave.

You know what though? None of that is even what brought us to the Renaissance Festival in the first place. We came to see my pirate sister. Yep, she is a pirate! This totally fits her personality.

And because I took way too many pictures today…I have many more for you to look at. Some cute ones of Makenzie checking everything out; random shots; and family photo ops. Enjoy!

4 Miles of Fun

Could you stay indoors if it looked like this outside??

I didn't think so. And neither could we. We knew we had to head out to do something fun. And Sawnee Mountain trail, a four mile moderate trail not too far from our house, was the perfect destination.

We packed up some water, snacks, and the dollface to hit the trails.

Well, we had to have a little photoshoot before getting started as well. Who doesn't take a few minutes to snap some family photos before a hike?

she thinks she's all that and she is

And during?? Addicted to the camera much? 😀

Not all of the pictures were random, however. We did get some fabulous shots of the view at the top. This area is called the Indian Seats and it used to be a lookout point. Just breathtaking...

We also took the time to stop for a snack while up there. I munched an almond granola bar that satisfied me quite well.

Then, it was time to head back down the trail to complete the 4 miles. There was sill more fun to be had when we came to a playground close to the parking area.

After numerous trips down the slide...

...battles to get her to climb the stairs (little chicken)...

notice her sad face

...and fun being tossed by daddy...

...we finally headed home. My kind of Sunday! How was yours? What is your favorite part of a hike? The climb, the views, the workout, the company? I definitely think mine is to spend time with my family and have a 2 hour uninterrupted conversation with the man I love. But also, to pause and be able to look at God's created beauty. Which also makes me consider that I am part of God's creation and am beautiful to Him, so should be to myself. After all, my body is strong enough to walk the entire hike easily...with 30 lbs on my back. I guess you could say I love it all!

It’s kind of funny. I become a certified personal trainer and the first workouts I turn to this week come from someone else. The book came in for me at the library last week and, after flipping through it, I couldn’t wait to give the circuits a go. Making The Cut includes a lot of […]
