Not Pregnant

Posted: June 8, 2011 at 5:46 pm

I spent today feeling fatigued, dizzy, and nauseous. It appears something has hit me hard and suddenly. Peter’s feeling a watered down version of the same random headache, nauseous sensations so perhaps we ate something bad? If I didn’t know better, I would think I’m pregnant. But I’m not. So whatever has caused this, I hope it passes quickly. I have things to do!

Like packing for our upcoming beach trip.

IMGP9905

I can hardly believe we leave this Saturday. I can also hardly believe the vast amount of stuff we will need to fit in my trunk – beach tent, pack & play, toys, suitcases, baby junk, baby junk, baby junk.  Did I mention baby junk?

I had hoped to get started on my massive pre-vacation to-do list today. You know – cleaning, laundry, setting aside things to pack, errands for last minute items, etc. Instead, I spent the day laying around to keep from passing out. Every time I stood up, I felt like I would collapse from dizziness. Thank goodness Peter works from home on Wednesdays to help take care of me. And feed me french toast.

IMGP9903

Whenever I get sick I crave french toast like my mom used to make - cooked up plain and then sprinkled with a spoonful of powdered sugar. I added a banana and peanut butter on the side to help fill me up. Despite the nausea, I felt very hungry. Like I said, I would think I’m pregnant. And no, I’m truly not pregnant.

Besides french toast to hopefully help me feel better, I also managed a green smoothie later in the day because greens can’t hurt.

Fact: drinking a green smoothie from a wine glass gives them extra powers. Or at the very least, makes them more fun. Fact # 2: my wine glasses see more green smoothie action than wine action. I would say I should change that and pour myself a glass right now, but in all honesty, I just want my bed and a book. And more french toast for dinner. And a maid. And a tan for the beach. And a professional packer for all the baby junk. Yea…I can’t be pregnant. We have no room in my trunk for that.

  4. SHOES take up the most room. And I don’t even have big feet, so what’s up with that? 😉

Feel better — the sun and beach will do you good!

  5. Kristi says:

I’m going to drink my green smoothie out of a wine glass for those extra powers 🙂

  6. LOL @ “my wine glasses see more green smoothie action than wine action.”

    You need to rectify that!!

  7. i always bring too many clothes.. you never know what you need!! i eat yogurt parfaits out of my martini glass and kombucha from wine glass, so i agree that it definitely makes a huge difference 🙂

  12. Are you sure you’re not pregnant?! 🙂 Whenever I feel slightly nauseous or tired, I always grab my chest and ask myself, “do the girls hurt?” If not, I’m good. 🙂

    sending get well vibes!

  14. Oh no…feel better Tina! I need to get on the green smoothie action. I’m thinking lots of lake time will make me crave them. Get some rest tonight and hopefully you will wake up brand new!

  15. Michelle says:

Sorry you are sick! Feel better soon!

  16. Alisha says:

Weird…two weeks ago I had the same issue. I kept telling Ken that it was like being pregnant again. I had no appetite, my stomach never growled like it was hungry and wanting food. I just felt nauseated for over a week and ended up losing almost 5 pounds. Ken felt yucky for a couple of days. I thought it was just stress or something but it was very odd.

  17. Sarah says:

I think it’s the heat…I’ve had the same thing this week and couldn’t sleep one night thinking I was pregnant..but I’m not either…thank goodness! We too already have a full house!

  18. I hope you feel better!!! Def shoes for me, I feel the need to pack all different styles and colors!! Have fun on your trip!!

  19. I always have trouble with shoes and purses while traveling.

    Hope you feel better, hun!

  20. Jolene says:

yikes, that sounds awful! I hope you feel better…your greens look tasty!

  21. Sarah says:

Mmm..french toast. I love making it for my husband. It’s been a while since I’ve done that!
    Hm:-).
I hope the french toast (and that smoothie) has you feeling better soon! I want you enjoying that beach trip as much as you can!

  22. Aw, I hope you feel better! Nothing worse than feeling nauseous all day.

  23. Haha…I got a kick out of your title. Simply because A. I think I am. and B. In the past two months, more friends of mine have become pregnant or had babies than I ever thought imaginable…and then all the bloggers out there, too!!! It’s insane!

Anyways, like you…kids stuff. More toys, extra clothes for when poop strikes, and kid necessities than you’d like to bring. And then there’s drinks. Snacks. Movies. AH!

  24. BTW: Nauseous? And drinking green monsters while feeling so?

    You’re my hero.

  25. I hope you feel better!

I like drinking out of a wine glass period — whether it is wine, a smoothie, lemonade, water, etc.

We just pack too much — too many clothes, shoes, toiletries, etc. Sometimes if it is a car trip we bring our humidifier. No I’m not kidding — and the one we have is huge, it takes up 1/2 the back seat, but some hotels have really dry air!

  26. Brittany says:

Try lying down on your right side 🙂 Does wonders! And my shoes take up so much space! I’m SUCH an overpacker 🙂

  27. Karen says:

Hope you feel better soon. My go-to meal when I’m sick is cinnamon-sugar toast. My mom used to make it for us when we were kids and it always make me feel a little better (even if it’s all in my head).

Good luck with the packing! I use lists to keep myself organized too.

  28. Dorry says:

I love my green smoothies in wine glasses! I have to tell you – I’ve been nauseous the past 3 days and the only thing that sounds good is cereal. So bizarre. And no, I’m not pregnant either. 🙂

I’ve gotten pretty good at minimal packing, but I know that changes significantly with kiddos!

  29. For the past week and a half I’ve been nauseous, dizzy, and headachey, with the added bonus of a stomach ache. It definitely made me think I was pregnant! I hope you feel better very soon! 🙂

  30. Bathing suits. Takes up practically a whole suitcase when we travel! Hope you feel better and quick!

  31. Beth says:

That french toast looked YUM. Can you share your recipe for the green smoothie??

    • Tina says:

Sure! I tend to do the basic green smoothie: 1-1/2 cups vanilla almond milk, 1 frozen banana, 2 handfuls fresh spinach, and blend until smooth. 🙂 Sometimes I will add extra fruit like berries or mango but I usually prefer the basic one.

  32. Aw, I hope you feel 10 X better before the beach. Being sick on vacation or holidays are the absolute worst. My clothes and toiletries usually take up all of the space. I believe in being prepared for every situation. 🙂

  33. Drinking a Kombucha always help me fend off sickness 😉

  34. Priyanka says:

Hope you feel better soon girl. I am an efficient packer so i never over or underpack. Need some help ?? 🙂

  35. My wine glasses get used for mocktails and smoothies more than anything else too. It’s a sad fact.

  36. mmmmm that french toast would make me feel better! When I get sick, I crave cereal or saltines and jelly 🙂 I like to put my smoothies in wine glasses too!

  37. I hope you feel better soon!!! I HATE feeling sick right before a vacation!

  38. Em says:

If you got pregnant again I would be so happy lol. You make cute babies and your body after baby is so MOTIVATING!!

  39. I hope you feel better soon!! Get as much rest as you can before your trip!

When I pack I think my toiletries, hair stuff and makeup take up a lot of space!

  40. Mandy says:

hope you feel better soon! xoxo

  41. I hope you’re feeling better today!! I’ve actually never tried drinking smoothies from a wine glass, but it would make it extra fun…

  42. Whitney says:

Have fun on vaca! Remember me emailing you telling me I was very dizzy and still get that way for about a month now?? Worst feeling ever! It could either be Vertigo or dehydration. I never drink enough water so maybe that is my problem. 🙁 Anyway, have a super time! We leave next week and I need to start packing too!

  43. My mom has warned me about how much more difficult packing for vacation is once you have children!!!!

  44. So sorry you’re not feeling well 🙁 I do hope you feel right as rain soon and that your preparations go smoothly! 🙂

  45. Ah, I am SO GLAD you are drinking your smoothie from a wine glass! I did that the other day and my hubby totally made fun of me. I told him it made drinking them more fun!! 🙂

  46. emily says:

French toast! Now I’m totally craving it, along with frozen yogurt and french fries. If I ate everything I craved when I craved it, I’d weigh a ton 🙂

  47. I’m sorry you aren’t feeling well when you need to be packing! I hope you feel better soon! Maybe you can lay on the bed and point to things and Peter can pack them? 🙂

And love the idea of drinking a smoothie out of a wine glass- it just seems so much more glamorous! But I don’t think my wine glasses are big enough… guess I need to invest in some bigger ones for smoothie and wine drinking 😉

  48. Robby says:

    dehydration headache…
