Inspiration Coffee

Posted: June 21, 2011 at 9:01 am

A couple weeks ago, Becca from Love Grown Foods granola contacted me about visiting over coffee while the Love Grown crew visits and does some business in Atlanta. I loved the idea and couldn’t wait to meet some of the faces behind a company I believe in and wholeheartedly support. I suggested we visit one of the three Land of 1000 Hills coffee house locations in the metro area.

Land of 1000 Hills serves fabulous coffee that is also fair-trade and focuses on helping build and invest in communities around the world with their coffee business. I couldn’t pick a better place to have coffee with two other individuals who represent a business that cares so much about providing quality to its consumers as well.

I spent a little over an hour yesterday sipping an iced coffee and chatting with Becca and Jason about a wide variety of things – their travels in the Love Grown Foods bus this year, the background of the company, how I got into blogging, my vacation, things to do in and around Atlanta, Makenzie’s antics, and more. I like to think any outsider could see us as a passionate crew as we shared all about our different ventures and interests. Without a doubt, our conversations had me sparked with a good energy and vibe.

For example, the way Love Grown Foods has developed and grown in just around a year amazes me. They went from being offered in one store, to just under 100 stores, to now over 1000 stores across the nation and they’re still spreading like wildfire! Stories like that inspire me that if you put out a good product, the opportunities and rewards will come.

I think that is all any of us can hope to do with any of our goals, hopes, and dreams. We simply must put in the effort to give our best, open ourselves to opportunities, and then trust the process to work out. For me, I strive to share genuinely and honestly here in order to hopefully provide realness and quality to FFF. For my future ventures in personal training and consulting, I will focus on working hard to provide quality training programs/support/etc and I have to trust that will bring positive results for my goal. Even with my fitness endeavors, I can only take each day one at a time and recognize that my choices add up to how I progress. Yesterday emphasized to me that it all boils down to believing in goals, putting in the effort, remaining true to your values, and keeping a kind heart.

Yes, my simple coffee date left me with such detailed thoughts. It also left me with a lot of granola love!

Becca and Jason fed my addiction. So what else was there to do than immediately bust some out for yesterday’s pre-workout green smoothie?

IMGP0381

A green smoothie topped with the Simple Oats granola makes perfect pre-workout fuel. And for the record, it’s quite the challenge capturing a photo like above before all the granola sinks. Nevertheless, it got me going for a great strength training workout followed up with sweating it out in a spinning class.

Move Reps Weight
push-ups on toes 15, 15, 10 bodyweight
hanging leg raises 15, 15, 15 bodyweight
leg press 12, 10, 10 140 # total
dumbbell bench press 12, 10, 10 30 # per hand
alternating overhead shoulder press 8, 8, 8 15 # per hand
glute lifts on stability ball 15, 15, 15 bodyweight
cable crossover 12, 12, 12 15 # per hand
triceps dips 15, 15, 15 bodyweight

Ahhhh. It felt so good to be back. Now time to make today as good as yesterday. Have a good one, friends!

  • Is there a certain company you love for what they stand for?
  • Do simple things ever lead to in-depth tangents in your mind?

  1. I LOVED their granola that they sent me!! I ate the chocolate granola in like, two days. And how cute are they!? Fun!

  2. Angela says:

What a fun coffee date!! Lululemon is a company that I think has a great mission and values, and I think everyone could do with taking to heart any or all of the items on the company manifesto. I’m also loving Love Grown Foods now, especially after this post! Thanks for the info Tina! 🙂

  3. I love those little single serving packages! Where can I get those? I absolutely love lululemon and their inspirational mantras and the fact that simply wearing their clothing gives me the motivation to exercise.

    • Tina says:

I don’t think I have seen the single serve packages in stores yet, but their granola is worth the big bag. Plus – you can always preportion it out with a measuring cup if you need.

  4. Awesome you got to meet with Love Grown Foods! I want to try their granola!!

  5. Simple things almost ALWAYS lead to in-depth tangents in my mind – especially when I’m running!

I need to find a store that sells Love Grown Foods (OR just order it online!) because they sound amazing.

That looks like a super intense workout! Especially before spinning. You go girl!

  6. Samantha says:

I want to try this granola! I’ve seen it on a few blogs but haven’t been able to find it in stores anywhere around here.

  7. Sarah R says:

I love Love Grown granola. Seriously the best I’ve had. It sounds like you had such a wonderful/inspiring time!

  8. Alisha says:

I’m pretty loyal to Kashi, BabyGanics, Whole Foods, and Dutch Monkey. I will definitely pay a premium to support a business that is doing things for the right reason.

BTW, did you notice someone using the “it’s a marathon, not a sprint” mantra on The Bachelorette last night??

    • Tina says:

I haven’t watched last night’s episode yet! But oh how fitting that I overlap The Bachelorette again. It’s such a guilty pleasure. LOL

  9. I just got samples of this granola in the mail and ate it for breakfast this morning! So good! I love that the sugar content is LOW! It tastes healthy and whole! So inspriing about their company! haha

  10. What a neat opportunity!! Very cool. I love several companies and feel loyal to them for who they are and what they believe in (Cabot, Fage, Nike, AutoTrader, Lowe’s, Macy’s, etc.).

    Another great workout, girl!

  11. That sounds like such a fun coffee date! I love walking away feeling inspired, and it sounds like you’re just that!

  12. I love their story! I love supporting a company that is about good food and that is formed out of care for others.

  13. brandi says:

how fun! their company seems so awesome -I’m hoping to find some to try nearby.

  14. I adore love grown…and their granola is 100% the best out there! So flavorful and perfectly crunchy!

  15. I really want to try Love Grown granola. Seen it on many blogs but yet to find it in a store around me.
PS- I hate when the toppings sink too!

  16. Avery says:

I looooove LoveGrownGranola! I was lucky enough to win a giveaway with 3 big bags and lots of individual packs. I downed them in like 2 weeks. No joke.

Not only is it really good but I love knowing exactly what’s in (and not in!) their granola as well as what they stand for as a company 🙂 So fun you got to meet with them!

  17. Let’s put it this way, simple things usually lead to tangents in my mind. haha!

  18. Julie says:

I’m a big fan of buying stuff for my kids on Etsy. I know it seems sort of silly – but when it comes to supporting home-grown business, Etsy rules. I also a company called Jillian’s Drawers because of the way they have chosen to educate the world about the benefits of cloth diapering!

  19. How fun! Looks like you had a wonderful trip AND yummy indulgences. Thrilled to have found your blog!

    • Tina says:

Thanks! And I just checked out your blog. Looks great. Love the raw food lover interviews and the videos you share. 🙂

  20. Mrs. Fish says:

Coffee and granola, what a perfect combination!

  21. Sarah says:

I have yet to try Love Grown granola. I do love the Toms company. They don’t produce food, but for everything piece sold, someone in need gets one, as well. How cool is that?!

    • Tina says:

That is REALLY cool! It actually makes me want to buy some Toms shoes. <--- I'm assuming those are the same Toms company you're talking about?

  22. Mmmmm granola! I try not to keep it in the house because it’s such a trigger food for me!

  23. Sounds like you had a great day! I’m super envious of your granola…I’ve tried reaching out a few times to Love Grown, but no dice. 🙁

  24. Katie says:

How fun! Lululemon I had a follow up interview there today hoping to have a job there soon! I think hard every day I’ve changed so much in the last few years grown up a lot. Somedays I just get hit by how much I truly have and how far I’ve come. Definitely have conversations that just make me think and those are the best kind.

  25. Like the workout!

As for companies I really like, I think Ben & Jerry’s is a great brand/company. Their brand is built upon delicious ice cream AND important causes. I love how the cause aspect is an intricate part of B&J’s identity.

  26. Kara says:

They just sent me some granola to review too and I LOVE that chocolate kind. I’m not even normally a granola person either!

  27. […] The below was taken directly from the blog FAITH FITNESS FUN: […]

  29. What an awesome coffee date! I love hearing about companies who live by their missions and turn out great products. Your photo turned out great, too!

  30. I still haven’t tried love grown granola, but I’ve heard amazing things! So inspiring to hear about a company growing for the right reasons 🙂

  31. hanna says:

Omg, I went to Land of 1000 Hills on Saturday!
I didn’t get the coffee but I heard it was really good. The tea I got was super delicious as well!

  32. vivoir says:

Aww you lucky lucky thing! I LOVE homemade-style granolas. Rude Health etc. I’ve never tried Lovegrown as I can’t get it here 🙁

Also loving your workout 🙂 Full body, and tighty tight ab feeling afterwards!!

  33. Oh yum, I need to try that stuff! There are definitely simple things that lead to in-depth tangents in my mind…and it’s usually during a workout and then I think it through the whole time 🙂

    • Tina says:

Workouts would be either a scary or motivating time to see what goes on in my head. All kinds of randomness! LOL

  34. Dorry says:

I feel the same way about Love Grown Foods! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with Maddie twice in the past several months, and I really adore her. I agree it’s so inspiring to see someone’s business and dreams grow so quickly. It’s a reminder that passion and hard work pay off. 🙂

  35. Lovegrown is so so generous! I for real love their company and all they stand for!

  36. I’ve been wanting to sample Love Grown granola ever since it began appearing on blogs a few months ago. I love supporting companies that maintain high ethical and environmentally conscious standards. So glad you had the opportunity to meet Jason and Becca!
