Argh, Matey!

Posted: September 10, 2011 at 5:54 pm

It feels so nice to finally be at the winding down part of the day. Today has been mad hectic. Running ten miles on the treadmill wore me out, of course, but that doesn’t stop life from happening. We had some fun on our schedule today. A birthday party extravaganza for one of Makenzie’s friends!

This party wasn’t the standard affair. My friend hosted her son’s party at a place called Glazed and Fired – a really neat paint your own pottery and art studio.

Makenzie and her friends each got to pick out their own special apron and paints to do some pirate ship painting. Argh, matey!

My little ar-teest. Smile

After getting on with our artistic selves, the time came for lunch, cake, and three cheers all around for the birthday boy. Which, he was SO adorable today in a little pirate costume. I fear Makenzie will insist on dressing as Belle for her birthday party next month after seeing E dressed up in his pirate garb. If there’s one thing she loves more than ducks, it is all things princess. And Belle in particular. I’m partial to Ariel myself, but whatever. Back to the food!

I filled up on a plate with pasta salad and fruit.

I love it when parties feature lighter meal options! That way I can have more room in my belly for things like this…

Now, that is a piece of birthday cake! Check out that pile of frosting on top and the thick frosting layer in the center. Publix – they know birthday cake! Birthday cake

Now, it’s that time of the week again. A look at my favorite posts from the past 7 days. Hope you enjoy any you may have missed!

Since im in my last semester of art school i better hope im artistic;););)

Pottery places are awesome for parties!! Way better then Chuck-E-Cheese!

  2. My mom and older sister studied art in school, and are incredible! I however did NOT pick up that gene. I like to think I am artistic with my food though! Haha 🙂

  3. Most fun last week? Putting down the deposit for my push present — waahoooo!

  4. Rebecca says:

Not as artsy as some, at least when it comes to drawing and painting and stuff. I write though, which some people consider kind of artsy.

Most fun thing this week? Hmmm… Maybe watching Pirates 4 last night with a bunch of school people?

  5. Thanks for all the great links – oughta keep me busy for a while 😉 The most fun thing I did this week was celebrated my birthday! And the celebrations continue tonight with sushi with 20 of my favorite people!!! Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  6. katie says:

How fun that party would be! I think that is such a great idea for a kids party instead of blowing money at chuck e cheeses, when the kids dont even get anything with all those tickets!

Ok I decided, we need that birthday cake and cake vodka ; )

    Perfect match if !

  7. Charissa says:

Awww, you’re SOOO sweet! Totally made my day! Thanks girlfriend!

  8. Emily says:

What a cute party, looks like M had fun 🙂 Love the arts and crafts stuff for kids, they feel so special and accomplished when they’re done!

  9. Lee says:

I have a degree in Art, but I sort of lost all my artistic motivation since I graduated. I mean, I guess my job is artistic.

  10. Khushboo says:

I am the least artistic person you will ever meet- drawing stick men is the height of my creativity!

  11. Heather says:

What a fun bday idea!!! Your daughter is so adorable!

Most fun thing of my week? Cirque du soleil opened a new show in our city “Ovo” – so good. I love Cirque! Have you ever been?

Artistic? Not really – although I did make a fall wreath this week.

  12. What a fun birthday party… think they would let a 25 year old have the same one? Pirates are my favorite! Highlight of my weekend so far was helping cater a 50th wedding anniversary.

  13. I wanted to drop out of college to become an interior designer. It’s a good thing I didn’t, because although I’m creative, I’m not all that artistic. Not sure that anyone would understand my design boards, what with all the rectangles that should be sofas, beds, etc.

Most fun this week? I’d have to say last night’s date night! 🙂

  14. wow what a creative birthday party. it’s nice that they have healthy food for kids to enjoy 🙂 maybe i should think of a party like that for my niece and nephew’s party 🙂

  15. That looks like a lot of fun! We have a similar place here called Claytime Pottery and I remember going there for a friend’s birthday when I was younger. As far as being artistic, I think I’m lacking in that area. haha. My oldest sister has always been the artist of the family!
