Stoked

Posted: April 16, 2010 at 4:20 pm

Just a real quick post to say that I was stoked this afternoon. This arrived in the mail for me...

I have been dying to try Newman's Own Organics products! Due to living on one income and a stricter budget, I have a hard time justifying buying items that are more expensive if I don't know I love them. So, having the chance to try these goods that I have been eying for awhile makes me one happy lady. So many great things to try to!

Dried Fruits

Soy Crisps + Pretzel Snacks

Hermits, Fig Newmans, Newman-O's Cookies

Alphabet Cookies for M, Espresso Choc Chip for Me

Various Chocolates

Assortment of Mints

It will probably take me awhile to get through it all. I already tried out some of the Dried Apricots and Protein Pretzels with my lunch today. Perfect timing, UPS man. 😀

I love the ingredients of these products because they are recognizable.

Fun packaging is always a plus, too!

A Little Joke

A Cute Story

Not that any of that is needed since the products themselves were great. I have a feeling quite a few of these things will make it onto our "more expensive but worth it" list. Along with things like Greek yogurt, buying certain produce organic, almond milk, my favorite bars (Luna/Lara/Gnu), etc. Thank you so much Sally and Newman's Own Organics. I really appreciate it and look forward to giving more detailed reviews of these products.

  • Since it's Friday, any fun weekend plans?
  • What are things you buy that are more $$$, but worth it to you?

  1. You are going to love that stash…I received one and it was a lifesaver for me.

    This:
Due to living on one income and a stricter budget, I have a hard time justifying buying items that are more expensive if I don’t know I love them.”

ME TOO! When it was 2 incomes, no kid. Life was alot diff. Now 3 people, 1 income = budget.

What’s worth it to me…stevia, nooch, sun warrior, a few things are must haves though!

You scored big time!! I’ve heard of those protein pretzels and want to find some. They sound great b/c I love pretzels, but just never buy them b/c they’re empty calories and I end up eating way too many. But if they have protein in ’em, somehow I can justify that a little more, plus maybe they’ll satisfy my hunger better than regular pretzels do. Enjoy your treats!! 🙂

  3. What a stash! It will be interesting to hear what your favs are!

worth it to me: fresh fruits & veggies, nutritional yeast, nuts

  4. wow, that’s awesome…i didn’t even know that newman’s made all of that stuff! i would definitely say that meat and veggies are things we pay a little extra for…but it balances out with pasta, rice, and legumes that are SUPER cheap!

this weekend we’re doing some kid portraits and just relaxing! should be fun 🙂

  5. Woooo…enjoy sampling those products!!! I LOOOVE Newman’s Own products. Their salad dressings are my favorite 🙂

I have a hard time buying Kombucha juice frequently cause it’s so pricy but I love it! 🙂 I use it as a “treat” after a hard workout 🙂

    Have a great weekend!

  6. Tina, I did a review on all of this stuff as they sent me the same thing. I was so surprised at how much of it I liked. The fig newtons were AWESOME and the cookies. All of it really. Helped me pack on some lbs teee heee!

  7. we’re also on a strict budget, so I really have to watch my spending. We completely cut out eating at restaurants and I cut my starbucks habit cold turkey. I think we save hundreds by cooking every single meal instead of eating out. The best part is that I don’t even miss it. I typically find I could make healthier and tastier meals at home for less $$

    • Tina says:

We did the same sort of thing. We try to limit going out to a restaurant to 1-2x/month. We used to go 1-2x/weekend. That was definintely the easiest way to save a little.

  8. I can’t wait to hear what you think of the Newman’s Own products! I haven’t tried any, for the same reason…although I do justify certain things that are $$ because i love them so much, and they’re good for you! I spend more on greek yogurt, Larabars, and almond butter….but I definitely get my money’s worth, I think!

Hope you have a great weekend!

  9. Jessie says:

Looks like you hit the jackpot! I can’t wait to see what you think of some of those delicious-looking foods. I definitely have my priorities about what’s worth it to splurge on and what I cut back on. Right now, I spend more for Greek yogurt and organic pink lady apples, and cut back elsewhere because those are so worth it!

Rain here this weekend, so not too much going on 🙁 I hope you have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

  10. Wow, I am SO incredibly jealous of you!

  11. april says:

Oh man, it looks like Christmas!! LOL. I love dried prunes.. they are like natures candy!

My protein powder is semi-expensive, but it’s totally worth it! I like natural ones so of course those tend to cost extra!

  12. Simply Life says:

I received a package from them months ago and am still enjoying their products!!

  13. jqlee says:

OMG, be careful ALL those newman things are amazingly delicious and addictive 🙂 but allll so good!! enjoy!

I will buy greek yogurt no matter what. It’s tooooo good.
