A Special Appearance By…

Posted: October 12, 2011 at 7:23 am

Hi! Do you know who I am? I sure hope so because I think I’m something special.

My mommy told me that some of her friends wanted to hear about the things I eat. Then I heard you all play some weird What I Ate Wednesday game.

Peas and Crayons

I like games. I like food. I like being like Mommy.

IMGP0219

I guess I can play along and tell you what I eat. It was a yummy day. Smile

For breakfast, I always have to have my favorite meal. Unless Daddy makes pancakes. Then, I want pancakes. But on a normal day I want a bowl of oatmeal, half a banana, and a cup of milk. It’s my favorite!

IMGP2031-1

Mommy will even put some pumpkin in my oatmeal so I can be just like her.

After breakfast I either go to school or stay at home to torture play with my little brother. I like to pretend I’m his mommy, which is tiring. I get hungry for a snack.

IMGP2037-1

Yesterday I was at home. At school I get goldfish or pretzels or other things for snack. I like it a lot, but I like my snacks from Mommy too.

IMGP1840-1

Yesterday, I wanted a bar just like mommy. My mommy’s friend, Chelsey , gave her two sunbutter bars. We each had one. I like Chelsey. She gave me green Halloween socks. Mommy & I both ate our bars and agreed we liked them. Although I don’t think it tasted like the sun??? It wasn’t hot! Confused smile

After a couple more hours, I wanted my lunch. I was sooooo excited for lunch! Mommy told me we had leftover crushed tomatoes, so that meant we could have pizza for lunch! Yipee! I like pizza. I like pizza a lot. Almost as much as I like cake!

IMGP2060-1

I had some apple slices with my pizza. It was the best. It gave me a nice and full belly so I could sleep nicely. I decided to help Mommy out and take a three hour nap. She says she gets work done during my naps. I think she just plays with my toys. Or naps too. I like to make mommy very tired.

When I wake up, I’m hungry again. Oh, goody! Mommy is making some green smoothies. I love love love green smoothies.

IMGP1757-1

They are the perfect snack! Or yogurt. I like yogurt for snack too. Maybe I will have both! No. Mommy says I can’t spoil my dinner. She knows me too well.

By dinner I try to tell Mommy I don’t like vegetables. She says I had vegetables already in my smoothie. Hold up! WHAT?!

Okay. I guess vegetables can be yummy. I always eat what Mommy makes for dinner. She won’t make me a special dinner, unless it’s the weekend. If Mommy or Daddy get Subway or make a pizza for them, then I get macaroni and cheese! The bunny kind is the best! If only they made a DUCK kind. In love

I’m kind of obsessed with ducks. All I want for my birthday is a purple light-up bouncy one I found at the store. I told Mommy to be happy it’s a $2 present.

What was I talking about again? Oh, dinner! This blogging thing is hard. For dinner I had a beef sandwich like mommy and some green beans. Not as good as macaroni and cheese but it will do.

I hope you liked reading what I eat. Now, I must go back to being a princess. Princess

  • Oh, wait. Mommy says I need to ask a question. Sooooo…what was YOUR favorite thing to eat as a kid? And tell me if you know where to find duck shaped macaroni and cheese!

  1. What a little ham – I love that last picture of her smiling.

Glad you liked the bar, M! 🙂

My favorite thing to eat as a kid was kind of gross – my sister and I used to top pieces of salami with cheese and microwave it. Disgusting.

  2. haha that was very cute! my favorite food to eat as a kid was pastina 🙂 (the little star shaped pasta)

  3. Tina,

This was by far the cutest WIAW ever 🙂 Makenzie has a wonderful blogging voice, just like her Mommy!

When I was a kid, I secretly loved when we ran out of milk for cereal, because it meant I would “have” to have toast with pb and honey!

  4. Alexandra says:

Oh my goodness this is beyond adorable!! 😀 heck I love all these eats haha Chicken nuggets were by far my favorite food as a kidx that’s all I would ever order at restaurants. I’m surprised I didn’t turn into one! 😀

  5. SO cute!! Best WIAW I’ve ever read 🙂 And tell M I’m with her on the pretzel and goldfish snack – yum!

  6. Khushboo says:

Ahh best post ever..she is SO adorable!! Is it weird that I read this post in my head in a baby voice?? As a kid, my fave thing was pizza too- if only I ate like your gorgeous daughter when I was growing uP! On a serious note, I love that it is possible to feed children healthy food and make them accustomed to actually enjoying it…gives me hope when I have my own munchkins!

  7. Kelly says:

HAHA!!! so cute! My favorite thing as a kid was peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. That hasn’t really changed much! ha!

  8. M is too cute! Looks like a tasty day to me! We ate crazy food when I was little. My favorites were always things like stir fries and sushi. Don’t get me wrong, I loved pizza too, but if I had a choice, I would go with Japanese flavors every time!

  9. Amy Lauren says:

This was so cute. I always liked that boxed mac and cheese too hehe.

  10. Kara says:

Man, she knows to work it for the camera! What a cutie 🙂

    • Tina says:

Yep. She knows the camera. You just wait. Faith will too. LOL

It’s funny because whenever I get out the camera she knows to smile and other parents are always asking how I get her to do that. I tell them she is a blogger’s daughter.

  11. Aww, how cute! And interesting! Thanks for the guest post, little M! 😉
As a kid I loved fried noodles with ham and eggs. And lots of ketchup! I had to dump ketchup on everything.

  12. Heather says:

What a cutie! I think my favorite was mac-n-cheese, too. My dad always made it for me and my sister when my mom was gone for the night! 🙂

  13. Brittany says:

This is beyond adorable!! Such a cute idea, I loved reading 😀

  14. not sure on the duck-shaped mac and cheese, but that’s definitely one of my favorite meals as a kid! that and lentil soup…we used to always go play at the park and then eat lentil soup and sandwiches before naptime 🙂

  15. Katie says:

Oh gosh! She is SO adorable! She is little mini you!!!

How sweet, love that she eats so well!

And the duck shaped mac n cheese, never seen! Im sorry, no help on that : p

  16. First of all, I am absolutely inspired and obsessed with your blog! You’re so funny, and your body after baby posts totally keep me motivated to lose a bit more weight 🙂

But most importantly, I am so impressed by what you feed your children. As a fellow health and food lover (I’m a vegan) I believe strongly in proper nutrition. I worked as a camp counselor this summer and was horrified by the awful snacks people were putting in their kids lunches. You are such an amazing example that you can feed your kids healthy food and they will eat it! Thank you for being such a positive role model for women, and moms. YOU ROCK!!

  17. Hands down the best WIAW post ever. Too cute!

Oh, and I got Runner’s World subscription using a twitter promo so it was quite a bit less than normal price. So you might follow them on twitter/facebook.

  18. M is adorable – that little grin …seems kinda mischeivous! 🙂
Fav. kid food? grilled cheese…dipped in tomato soup.

  19. Mellissa says:

So cute! And I love that she eats healthy things and not just crap food. Teaching your kids those habits now will pay off in the long run.

Favorite kid food? Mac and cheese. I still love it!

  20. Errign says:

Ahhhh adorable. My favorite thing as a kid was LOBSTER, followed closely by wagon wheel pasta with milk & sprinkly cheese, usually because my mom made it fun colors with food coloring. Oh, and broccoli. How weird was I?

  21. What a cute post! She looks just like you 🙂

  22. Cuuuuuute 🙂 And it also makes me exhausted just to think about when the little orange in my belly is going to be that age 🙂

  23. Jess says:

    Cutest post EVER!!

My favorite childhood snack growing up? Ants on a log!!!

  24. Cutest WIAW post ever! I love the “hold up, WHAT?!” part..haha! It’s so encouraging to see a kid eating healthy! It’s funny how submersed in this healthy living community you (I) can be and then you go out in public in “normal” life and see the tell-tale American fast food, processed food, sugar laden stuff people eagerly feed their children. I ride past a McDonald’s from my house to the bike trail and yesterday as I was biking by it on my way home after 20 miles around 6pm, all I could see was SUV after SUV filled with families in the drive through. It literally made me so sad and angry at the same time.
This is quite the tangent from a cute WIAW post, but just wanted to say awesome job 🙂 It’s got to be hard sometimes to make the extra effort to provide healthy food to children but it’s so worth it when you see someone Makenzie’s age eating green smoothies and oatmeal!

  25. By far the cutest WIAW ever! I think my favorite thing to eat as a kid was bagels – my first word was ‘bagel’! Or sour cream, apparently I ate it by the spoonful…

  26. I was a freakish child. My favorite afterschool snacks (1st grade-ish) were: Cucumbers and dip, creamed spinach, or lettuce with thousand island dressing. Weirdo.

  27. Jessica S. says:

This post was so adorable! I love how she’s so open to eating smoothies with vegetables blended in. So great that she’s learning such healthy habits at an early age.

  28. Kat says:

this is too cute! I love the shot of M drinking the green smoothie 🙂 I’m hoping my little one will too!

  29. Oh my gosh I love this!!! I love that she likes green smoothies!! Favorite childhood snack and still an adult fav pb on saltines

  30. adorable! love that she eats what you eat.
I was so so picky as a kid, I dont think I ate vegetables til I was 20.

  31. hahahah i loved this!! so adorable. my favorite was grilled cheese for lunch. actually anything with melted cheese…

growing up we (my brothers and I) ate oatmeal every monday, tuesday and thursday. wednesday and fridays we would eat cereal for breakfast. always some toast with butter on the side. it was the routine from basically kindergarden to my senior year of high school. sometimes it was rolled oats, buckwheat, or cream of wheat. and for lunch it was always a sandwich + apple at school- i never bought a school lunch once! and sometimes my dad would stuff the apple with PB- that was a treat. haha 🙂

  32. This post made my morning! I’m still smiling! So great that you expose your lil munchkins to healthy food and are not in the habit of making her something different than what you are having. That’s how to not have picky eaters!!!

My niece was addicted to hummus and pita at that age, she loved pretty much anything she could dip into something else 🙂

I don’t remember my fave foods as a kid, but I do remember stealing a jar of pickles from the fridge and eating them all…

  33. Possibly the cutest WIAW ever, she looks SOOOO much like you. I am not sure I could recall any of the food because her face is so adorable, what a great spin.

  34. LOVE this post Tina!! So cool to see what Mackenzie eats, and I love that you have instilled your healthy eating habits with her too. She’s so darling!

  35. Too cute! I think Mommy does a great job at preparing your meals! I’m sure you will grow up to be fit + healthy just like her! 😉

  36. THIS is the best wiaw yet. 😉

aand my favorite meal as a kid (besides brownie batter.. looks like I never grew outta that one..) was “girled” cheese.

    on white bread.
    lightly toasted.
    with white american cheese. 😉

    ..and tomato soup!

I wasn’t hard to please at all.

  37. Haha Aw! This is adorable, Tina! You’ve got quite the cutie over there 🙂
(I might just steal that crushed tomato pizza idea)

  38. so cute! i loved eating cheese sandwiches w/ mayo on white bread when i was a kid. gross. and it wasn’t even real cheese- just kraft american singles. sick.

as for duck pasta, maybe try googling it. probably ridiculously expensive online but could be a fun treat for her birthday or something. 🙂

  39. What a cute idea! I love seeing what M eats! How old was she when you started introducing solids?

    • Tina says:

5 months for pureed solids? 9-10 months for easy to chew or disolvable solids. The more of our food in tiny tiny pieces around a year old. 🙂

  40. Tina says:

She is too cute! My favorite thing to eat as a kid had to be peanut butter sandwiches, no jelly. This was the only sandwich I brought for lunch for years!

  41. Gah! This was just too cute!! Love it 😀

  42. Love the special appearance. I should have my boys make a special appearance too. Oh, shoot, as a kid…….. I loved coorn dogs. Weird. Good thing I don’t love them anymore. Mackenzie’s eats look mighty delish.

  43. What a doll 🙂

I think me and M eat a lot of similar meals!

As a teen I loved bagel bites! After school I’d eat a whole box!

  44. It was fun seeing M’s food for a day. My favorite food as a kid was PB&J sandwiches and I’ve totally passed that on to Meghan. She loooooves her PB&J.

  45. Oh my goodness, she sure is CUTE. She’s so lucky to have you to show her how good healthy food can be. I didn’t learn that until I was much older! 🙂

  46. This post is so adorable! And she is so adorable! I can just imagine her telling you all those things to write down. So cute.

I love how she likes healthy foods. I hope I’m able to be as good an example to my future kids as you have been with her.

  47. This was so adorable and she is so cute! The entire time I was reading this I had this little girl’s voice in my head that was really high and squeaky, but went perfect to reading this!

My favorite food as a kid was salsa. I had salsa with anything and everything. My mom told me I was about 14 months old when they bought some salsa and gave me a spoonful and my eyes got huge. My mom thought the salsa was too spicy and she freaked out. But here’s the funny part. My high chair was one of those that attached to the table, so I was able to crawl out onto the table, get to the salsa jar, and I started spooning salsa into my mouth. I know, 14 month old with a spoon? I was weird as a baby and hated eating with my fingers so by the time I was about 11 months I could eat with a fork and spoon just fine. My love affair with salsa continues to this day. I’ve even started using it in pasta when I don’t have any other kind of tomato base, and it’s delicious!

  48. Stop, Tina! I’m hysterical and you’re hurting me with all of this cuteness! I love the post!

  49. Very cute post! I loved popcorn as a kid:) and apples—I used to steal them from the fridge as a baby.
