Tidbits

These are totally random and will truly reflect the scattered brain that inhabits my skull, but who knows? Maybe you will learn something. Or at least get a good laugh in. ๐Ÿ˜‰

1. Don't ever buy any current or future children this toy.

That thing is as evil as it comes. It used to reside in Makenzie's play room and then one night she carried it up to bed with her. I figured I would let her sleep with it. Well, it turned my previous angel of a sleeper who asks for "night night" and sleeps straight through 12 hours every night with no fuss into a little ball of fear for at least an hour every night since sleeping with it. The only thing I can fathom is that since it lights up, she now realizes she doesn't like the dark. So, she turns it on, starts falling asleep, but then it cuts off just as she starts to fall asleep, she freaks out, screams, and the cycle continues. I hid that dern thing today, bought a nightlight, and a lullaby CD so hopefully those keep the sudden nighttime heebie jeebies at bay. This gal needs her sleep! And that gal is me...not the bundle of energy that is Makenzie.

2. Interval workouts are awesome! I've talked about this before, but I just love an interval workout. And I have recently realized that the length and intensity of the intervals can easily be adapted for my current fitness needs. Plus, they go by fast and aren't so long that your coffee + oatmeal breakfast combo have time to take affect mid-run. Catch my drift? Here is what I did today after Power. It rocked!

3. Mangoes are a pain to cut up!

But at least they make a lovely addition to lunch. Mango, leftover brussels, and an avocado/turkey/spinach/onion/pepperjack wrap.

4. I have more willpower than I previously imagined. I only ate that ONE Newman-O to taste test. Peter worked from home today and he wanted some. I couldn't avoid having one. It was VERY good. Way better than a normal Oreo because the creme is more creamy and more like icing. Mmmm. But I kept it to one, because I was satisfied with my lunch and really listened to if I felt the need for more. I didn't so I left it at that. Knowing that they are there if I want any later makes it easier to not want to eat them all at once.

AND I actually left Target with just the things on my list. Now, you all know that takes serious willpower.

5. You all want some Amazing Grass!!! Hmmm??? Should I have saved this stuff for myself? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  1. Love the tidbits. Sometimes it’s nice just to read fun little general bits and pieces. My random tidbit of the day would be that I can indeed run faster than I suspected and my lungs will not in fact explode.

  2. Kelly says:

I love your tidbits! I totally remember those glow worms…I had one and yes I will admit that I actually slept with a nightlight until middle school! Isn’t that awful?!?

  3. Heather says:

how adorable is this ๐Ÿ™‚ i don’t know if i have a fun tidbit…other than i can’t wait to do yoga when i get home!

  4. I agree, mango is a pain to cut but sooo tasty! It makes a great salsa for tilapia or tacos..

Oh and I wanted to thank you for your post on my blog. I definitely agree that I would like some days off from macro counting. Right now I do take Sundays off, but I’m still new to even keeping track of protein and such, so I think I will stick with it until I can get in the flow of which foods work for me. Also I suck at estimating portions! LOL

  5. I peel my mango with a knife and then cut it around the pit. I dont know if youve tried that method- but I find its easier to eat/cut but not as pretty (and can be slippery!).

  6. Mama Pea says:

I think every parent has at least three toys that they pray runs out of batteries or breaks immediately. We have a toy electric guitar. Need I say more?

  7. homecookedem says:

Hehe, you are so funny! ๐Ÿ™‚ Want to hear something creepy?? I had a battery powered doll that “talked” and my mom hated it and finally took out the batteries and one night it was just sitting there and it randomly started talking!!!!!! AHHHH!! So scary and still gives me chillbumps just thinking about it!! Haha!!

And I agree, mangos are so yummy, but such a pain!!

  8. Sarah says:

I enjoyed reading your random tidbits. Mine? I’ve been enjoying using a little stevia again since I’ve become more relaxed about this whole pregnancy thing.

  9. nice tid bits!!!

i LOVE fresh mango! they are such a pain to cut up but after you do, its always worth it!

  10. I tried an ugli fruit. It was pretty random!

  11. Molly says:

What an adorable baby. That is no good about that darn toy.. glad you finally hid it. Here’s to a quiet no crying nights sleep!

  12. ahhh that crazy toy!! The little one I babysit for has that glow worm thing and it drives me nuts. I didn’t think anyone else even knew what it was!! I hope the nightlight works for you and M.

  13. sophia says:

lol! Duly noted. I won’t ever have kids, but I’ll let my bro know.

Also, I must warn him NEVER to buy his daughters Barbie dolls. Horrid D-cup sized anorexic dolls.

  14. Vee says:

๐Ÿ™‚ I am with you on the mango cutting – what a pain! I always have to wait till it gets a bit softer as I almost chopped one of my fingers off when cutting one of the ‘not so soft ones’.

  15. lessonstolearn says:

I’m making a mental note about the glow worm ๐Ÿ™‚ I had a doll growing up that went everywhere with me. My aunt liked to take me on “adventures” and she would curse the doll because I couldn’t climb rocks or swing from trees with the doll in one hand. I still have that doll ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Wow…between the trip to Target and the Newman-O’s – you do have some serious will power! I would love to get to that point with cookies (or any sweet, really). I like what you said about knowing that they’re there if you would want anymore.

  17. That’s so sad about the toy! I used to have a “glow worm” I loved

  18. I love interval training too! I’ve only been doing it for a few weeks and I noticed a major difference in my stamina when I ran outside over the weekend! I’ve been doing the HIIT method, its great! ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. I have a dr.’s appointment tonight. Does that count as random?

  20. Haha wow, I can’t go into Target and come out without things that I DIDN’T need, so go you!! Woo!
    The wrap looks delicious!

  21. cardiopizza says:

Oranges are very messy to peel at work!

  22. Krystal says:

Jordan has slept with that very seahorse since the night he came home from the hospital! Sometimes when he wakes up in the middle of the night, he turns it on and it helps him go back to sleep. They DO need to make it play, like, 10 minutes longer, though. We don’t turn that on for him anymore when we put him down. We use the Fisher-Price Rainforest Music lullaby CD, which is AWESOME. Jordan almost always falls asleep during song No. 4. I even enjoy the soothing music. I highly recommend it.

    • Tina says:

Yea, I think if she was used to it from the beginning it would be better. She slept great without it last night though. Thank goodness! I think she just likes the music and little bit of light.

  23. April says:

Nice workout! I may steal it ๐Ÿ˜‰

  24. Anna says:

The first thing I saw was the glow worm, and so before I even read the rest of your post I went “awww, glow worm, they still make those, I LOVED mine.” Of course mine was old school and literally had a flashlight inside it (as I got older I started taking it apart).
Then I read your post… hehe – sorry it’s becoming a problem. But they are adorable creatures.
