just WOW!!!

Posted: September 1, 2010 at 4:00 pm

The only title that suits this post is “Just WOW!!” I feel like that right now and wonder how I’m going to form words for you to read tonight. You all need to know just how much your comments, posts, tweets, emails, etc, etc, etc today mean to me.

I even leaked some tears quite a few times. No joke or exaggeration. Many happy tears for the joy and confidence I could feel from your posts, but also a few sad tears for things some of you turned to me for. My prayers reside with each one of you in hopes that this brings the positive changes I know it has the power to conceive. I cannot convey my thanks to each of you enough. Now let’s continue this self-love fest tomorrow and for the remainder of September. We need to keep this spark lit in order to see it reach its fullest potential working in our hearts and lives.

I don’t quite know how to segue my way from that awesomeness into my normal day to day living. I have no super witty or fun post today mainly because my mind is still shell-shocked by this morning and seeing something I feel so strongly about accepted so openly. I still have stuff I can share though so here we go.

Boys. They are quite the different species, huh? Love the men in my life dearly, including little man B in my belly, but dear goodness they require some special care.

I watched my 2 nephews for a few hours yesterday and about went insane. Little M plays so calmly and sweetly. Then, her little cousin enlightened her on how to cause a raucous. That may be an understatement. The non stop running back and forth, climbing on tables, screeching as a pretend car, and so much more left me blinking in that 3 year old’s dust. “Ohhhhh boy!!!” ran through my head on repeat.

Keeping with today’s confidence theme– I know I am a good and loving mom, so I will make parenting two work…but it’s going to be different than just hanging with this little face.

On top of that, yesterday M discovered how to climb out of her crib. In the morning she greeted me at 6 am with a “Hi mommy! Awake!” proclamation. She had to tell me just in case the thunk overhead from her jumping out of the crib didn’t give me the hint.

So I guess you could say yesterday was a long one. I ended it nicely though. We made some Almost Meatless Sloppy Joes for dinner. This recipe never fails! So easy and delicious. Thank you Katie for posting it awhile ago!

I also had kale chips for the first time. I really liked them. I think next time I need to cut them into smaller “chips” and bake a bit longer since some parts were a bit chewy instead of crunchy. Overall, I will definitely have them again. I don’t know why I take so long to try things sometimes.

Now I must relax my body from the kick, spin, and Power classes I’ve done this week. Yay for a rest day tomorrow! I need it. `

  • What food have you tried that was inspired by bloggers? Did you like It?
  • When do you take your rest days? Mine are Thursday and Sunday. I love them!
  • If you posted about the 30 Days on your blog or shared it in some way today please let me know with a comment. I meant to keep a running list to post as a thank you but got a bit overwhelmed with everything and lost track. I don’t want to leave anyone out who shared! Thanks.

WOW Tina. I just came back to see how many comments your last post generated – unbelievable!! A clear sign that this 30 days was definitely something we’ve ALL been in need of for far too long! I’m so looking forward to the rest of the month 🙂

    • Tina says:

Yea. I was stunned. It truly moves me to see others care so much for something I really believe in. I badly want this to reach people and help them even the smallest bit.

  2. That picture of M is too cute. She really is beautiful. I don’t think I could ever say “no” to that face. I feel that I’m in trouble some day when I have kids… 🙂

    • Tina says:

Haha! It is hard saying no to her cute face. Although she helps because usually when I say no she tries to get her way by pouting and crying. I can always so no to THAT face. LOL

  3. I told you not to worry 😉 I made sloppy joes for the first time Mon and was quite pleased with myself LOL. Had to laugh about M learning to cause a raucous! Oh just wait until that baby brother comes along. I usually take my rest days on Fridays, but if I need one sooner, then I take it. I learned the hard way that rest days should be flexible.

  4. omg baby M!!! i cant wait to ‘meet’ baby #2! he is going to be the most adorable baby boy!!!

I have tried some crazy foods from blogworld, some like, some don’t but I love trying new things in general so why not! I love nooch and would have never discovered it otherwise, also some other flavored protein powders and banana soft serve! my love for nut butter has also skyrocketed!!

I tried tempeh for the first time when reading blogs and did NOT like! bleh just not for me!
rest days are usually Sundays but if not then saturdays!

    • Tina says:

I will not try tempeh. I don’t think I could handle the texture. Even looking at it gets me weirded out since I’m such a huge texture eater.

  5. Jolene says:

Awesome!! This is so cool, I love to see it. And though rest days are REALLY hard for me sometimes to take, to force myself into, I kinda dig them on Sundays lately since I’ve been doing long runs on Saturdays that tire me out.

  6. I haven’t tried any yet but there was one bacon cheese muffins I want to try (make it as healthy as possible)

My rest day is usually sunday. Sometimes I will add another day in the week..I just try and see how my body is feeling that week!

I haven’t mentioned the 30 day on my blog…but will be soon!

You are awesome! keep it up!

  7. Great Job Tina! I love your post on HTP today too! You are an inspiration to new moms (like myself!)! Keep it up!!
    🙂

    • Tina says:

Thanks! And there is so much learning as a new mom. We just have to take each day as it comes and do our best – for ourselves and the kiddos. 🙂

  8. MIndy says:

“I also had kale chips for the first time.”

That’s really funny! I just had those today and thoroughly enjoyed them. (I hadn’t read your post yet.)

It’s funny how out of the loop you feel after trying something new. It’s like everyone else knew and enjoyed it and kept it a secret.

  9. I just had kale chips for the first time this weekend! YUM!

  10. Best food I’ve had that was inspired by bloggers (so far….!) has been oatmeal. I’ve had oatmeal plenty of times before, but bloggers inspired me to pile a bunch of awesome stuff on top of it. Just finished a bowl topped with fresh peach chunks, almond butter, cinnamon, sucanat and brown rice cereal!
Your M is sooooo cute!!! <3

    • Tina says:

Okay this is my breakfast in the morning. I always do the nut butter and cinnamon…and have fresh peaches for me on the counter. I already want breakfast and its 11 hours away. LOL

  11. I was inspired to make roasted chickpeas after seeing them on a few blogs. They are now my biggest craving. I have to keep some made at all times in the fridge and eat them now on a daily basis. I guess it just kind of goes with the theme of the one big craving I had in my first pregnancy HUMMUS.

  12. Nicole, RD says:

I love this 30 day mission to love ourselves! Love, love, love! Great idea, Tina! And I can’t believe it’s taken you that long to try kale chips, either! What a shame! 😉 Now you know what you were missing 😉

    • Tina says:

Yea, I’m a nut like that. I always hate jumping on the bandwagon just bec its there….and then kick myself for not doing so sooner bec its always good. Bloggers know their food.

  13. To much success…you deserve it all!!!!

  14. words can’t express how excited i am that this has gone so well! i had a little mention at the bottom of my post this morning, but like i told you: Saturday’s going to be the big day!

and p.s. i just love you too 🙂

  15. Penny Lane says:

I was inspired to try peanut butter fries (what peanut butter on sweet potatos, crazy talk) They were delicious! That is probably the one that was most shocking to me, but I loved them and ate them everyday for a week.

  16. eatmovelove says:

Just wanted to say that you had a great post at HTP.

I was curious – do you family and friends all know about your blog? I.e – talking about your past troubling father relationship, fitness, food, etc…

I feel I could never be that open about any of that with anyone who knows me – I would never be looked at the same. My friends – and coworkers and old acquaintances would think there’s something wrong with me ;)…totally surprised..I don’t know…

    • Tina says:

They do. They don’t read it very much but they know its there and support it. They know I share things like pictures, personal stories, etc as well. My dad knows everything I have shared since a turning point in us relating to each other better was when I finally poured it all out to him. None of it would come as a surprise to him. My family and friends know I’m an open book and understand that I believe its necessary to be a light and support to others. I always appreciate that about them.

  17. That M story is soooo cute! I love how she announced her status. I’m going to do that to my boyfriend tomorrow. Nudge. Nudge. Nudge. AWAKE!

  18. It was GREAT to see that you were featured on HTP today. I love reading your blog and am so excited for the 30 day challenge!!!

  19. Tina I’m glad there is so much support for your 30 DRSL — I absolutely love it. I loved your post on HTP today! You are such an inspiration.

I don’t have kids, but my sister has 2, and I remember she had those same feelings when she was pregnant with baby #2: she didn’t think she’d be able to balance her time between the 2 kids. But you know what? She prays about it, talks to her husband about it and they make it work. I know she loves those kids so much and does her very best. That is all you can do really!

  20. I love kale chips! My husband was not a fan of the smell or the flavor. I ate the entire pan by myself in one sitting.

Yeah, two is a handful! My second is way more to handle than my first. Good grief.

My rest days are Saturday and Sunday. I hate them. I feel like working out gets me going. We did our walk on Sunday and I felt so much more energized after walking.

I am so glad your day went well! I loved your post on Caitlin’s site. You are incredible! Thank you for sharing yourself!

  21. Dorry says:

I’ve loved some of the veggie burger recipes from various bloggers and not too original but banana soft serve! It changed my life when I stopped eating dairy.

My rest days vary each week based on what’s going on. Lately, it seems to fall on Sunday and one day during the week. 🙂

  22. of course your a good mama, your a fantastic mama, never need to doubt that <3
can i steal her gorgeous blonde hair tho, please lol 🙂

  23. Bethany says:

I had never tried (or heard of) a green monster smoothie before reading Caitlin’s HTP blog. Now that I know about them (and love them) I see everyone posting about them.

I was pointed to your blog today from HTP….so I’ve never been here before….but I LOVE it. I plan to continue reading.

  24. Your 30 day challenge is awesome! I’ll definitely be checking back. Something tells me you’ve got plenty of messages I could use to hear. Glad I found your blog!

  25. Penny Lane says:

I posted in regards to the Confidence reflection from this morning. 🙂 Thank you!

  26. Gina says:

I tried to make kale chips for the first time the other day as well and had the opposite problem as you- mine were burnt to a crisp!! My favorite blog inspired recipe was parsnip fries form Angela at Oh She Glows. By the way I posted about your 30 DLSR on my blog ginaeatsbeans.wordpress.com. Can’t wait to see what you talk about tomorrow.

  27. Kristy says:

I just got a deep craving for kale chips (at 8AM?), yum!

  28. Tina, you shouldn’t be surprised about the number of people joining you on this! Why? Because when someone’s passionate about a great cause, there are followers. Inspiration and love are truly contagious.

Second, I have to say that I absolutely LOVE pictures of little M. She has the cutest nose ever. 🙂 And that curly blonde hair is to die for!!! Love her! I can’t wait to see what your little BOY will look like!

  29. Nichole says:

That sloppy joe sounds perfect. Messy and tasty!

I typically use Sunday as my rest and regroup day, get in a nice relaxing weekend.

  30. Hey, I’ve been thinking about making sloppy joes (meatless) and use sandwich thins, too! I guess great minds think alike, except now I need to get a-crackin’.

  31. I got inspired of stir frys recently!

  32. meghan says:

Quinoa, barley, greek yogurt, almond butter, but im interested in more like the kale chips that made me perk up when i read it. I went through the day yesterday repeating “confidence” when I had a quiet moment.
