i love blog friends

Posted: September 22, 2010 at 1:00 pm

How goes it? Did you have a good night last night with your fall TV? A good day so far? Remember, you make the most of your days! Make the decision to live fully. And for the record, my little “only do what you can today because God has plans for your future” message I’ve been thinking has really helped my mood. You should give it a shot! And check out today's 30 Days post if you haven't already. 😉

Guess what I had for breakfast this morning? If you guessed more pumpkin, you would be right. If you guessed another bowl of oats, you would be right.

IMGP7079

If you think the above bowl simply copies yesterday’s bowl, you would be wrong. Today’s bowl included a special addition.

IMGP7064

A huge thanks to my lady Janetha for sending me this special gift. It was a total surprise (and totally delicious!). The card it came with now hangs on my fridge to give me a smile.

IMGP7066 IMGP7068

I love blog friends! They really know how to make this girl smile. From special surprises to your everyday visits and comments. You all seriously make my world a happier place. 😀

I continued a fabulous morning by feeling strong. I hit up Group Power class to lift some weights. I almost skipped thanks to some pain in my ankle. The thought of putting on shoes scared me. Why? Because another one of my dirty little secrets is I am extremely clumsy. Yesterday I tripped over one of M’s toys and somehow scraped up the entire front side of my foot and funked up my ankle in the process.

IMGP7086

You can’t really see much detail in the picture, but trust me when I say it’s not too pretty. And it hurts. Putting pressure on it didn’t hurt as bad this morning and, as long as I had the sock pulled up high enough, the shoe didn’t rub any tender spots. So I went for it. I wouldn’t have gone for a walk or done kickboxing on it, but lifting was doable. So I did and it felt good.

After the gym, I had great intentions to hit up a local farmer’s market. The only ones I’ve ever heard about are not too close and on Saturdays, which are hard for us to make it to on a regular basis. So when Peter let me know a farmer’s market was now open on Wednesday mornings at the local fair grounds I had to go. I went. I searched. I drove around for a good 10 minutes like a creeper. I could not find it! Bummer! I really looked forward to it!

  • Do you feel blog friends are “real” friends? I certainly do! They cheer me up and cheer me on. They obviously care and show it on a regular basis.
  • How do you deem if you’re good to work out or not? If I’m sick, I always give my body a break. If it’s an injured area, I mimic some of the moves to see how it feels and go from there. I always adjust as needed during the workout too.

  1. OUCH!! That looks painful!!

And yes, some bloggers I feel like are my “friends”, even though Hubbs picks on me for referring to them as such… haha! 🙂

    • Tina says:

I always talk about bloggers to Peter like they are my friends. Peter half the time is like “I don’t even KNOW who you’re talking about”. LOL

  2. rachael says:

Oww! Your ankle looks painful, you poor thing! Hope you feel better soon!

  3. Camille says:

Oh man, how great was Glee!? 🙂 I’m listening to the music right now (as I have been all morning!)

    • Tina says:

I haven’t had the chance to watch it yet. I’ve heard such good things though. I can’t wait to catch it on the DVR tonight. 🙂

  4. oh my gosh Tina! your ankle looks sick…hahaha…but i’m glad you showed it b/c it’s cool 🙂

and i totally consider blog friends real friends 🙂

  5. Ha. My husband gets so mad at me when I refer to them as my “pretend” friends. But, there are a couple I talk to a lot and not just stalk!

    • Tina says:

You can definitely build relationships through the internet and talk to outside of blogs. I think my husband finally got it after meeting one of my closest friends now. Her, her husband, and her little girl who is 3 weeks older than M came to stay with us last Labor Day. He thought we were crazy, but now we make a point to visit each other at least once a year. LOL

  6. Considering that I probably know just as much if not more about some of the blog ladies I read on a regular basis, I totally count it as “friends”.

Although it still is a little weird when I may be talking about a specific person’s blog and when asked how I met this person, it sounds funny to say “uh… online…”

  7. Emily says:

Yikes! That ankle does look sore! Take care of it!!

I haven’t picked up any pumpkin yet but it is most definitely time. Your breakfast looks awesome.

  8. Lisa says:

pumpkin with maple almond butter! What a great idea! I have to buy some of that stuff! I didn’t know it existed! =)

  9. Oh no… I hope your ankle heels soon!

I love blog friends! I wish I had more though.

I always listen to my body when it comes to working out. If I’m too sick and not up for it, I’ll rest.

  10. Bree says:

I wish I could round up all my blog/online/forum friends into one place! It would be so fun to hang out with everyone 🙂

    • Tina says:

I know some of us have said that it would be so cool to have an island for us all to live on together.

And I am determined to go to some blogging conferences next year to connect more with this awesome community.

  11. Ela says:

Ooh, please take care of that foot – looks _painful_!

Sorry you didn’t find the farmer’s market – they’re such joyous events.

I love my blog friends – I have dreams about them, etc, just like real life friends. Wish I could meet more of them.

Will post later with my blog on forgiveness.
    thanks so much to you!
    love
    Ela

  12. Rachel says:

You mean Blends? I’ve only met one blogger and that was Jenna from That Wife. I felt like it was a celebrity sighting! Haha.

It doesn’t take much for me to not work out. I usually work out a TON so if I’m feeling remotely off, I usually skip that day. And I don’t feel bad about it.

  13. i can definitely tell from the pic that theres a MAJOR BOO BOO on your ankle/foot. 🙁 🙁
bloggie friends are good for cheering you up too, which u definitely need right now 🙂

    xoxo

  14. Ouch girl. That looks like it seriously hurts! I’m very accident prone as well so I feel ya. I would have definitely been worried to do any cardio and possible anything with legs like alternating lunges or step ups. I definitely feel like some of my blogger pals truly are friends. There are some I feel like are better friends than some of my in real life friends even. I think part of it is connecting on common interests and then all the sharing we do – we share a lot 😉

    • Tina says:

I feel the same way. There are a few ladies from blogging that I will turn to when I’m upset about something before calling up some of my other friends. It probably helps that its generally easier access to each other and each others’ lives when we’re sharing so much, so regularly here.

  15. Oh wow– that ankle looks like it hurts something wicked 🙁

Good thing you have some delicious nut butter to cheer yourself up with 🙂

  16. My experience with the blogging community has been really great, so many inspirations and great healthy food. Women who are passionate with living a healthy lifestyle and helping others on their journey.

I would consider my blog readers as well as the blog authors my friends 🙂 I consider you my friend Tina even though we haven’t met. Hopefully all of us can meet someday.

    • Tina says:

And you better believe I think of you as a friend too! Any person who has ever commented here and that we have shared support and fun insights into each others’ lives with = my friend. 🙂 Love this community!

  17. Your poor ankle! Youch that looks painful! I am very clumsy too — my legs are covered in bruises 🙁

Yes I have blog friends who are real friends — some of them I haven’t met face to face, but they are still my friends! I’m amazed at how many friendships I have made so far!

    I love Janetha’s handwriting!

  18. Mellissa says:

Make sure that ankle isn’t broken!! That looks nasty.

Here I am all worried about you 🙂 All of my blog friends are real friend, that is what I love about blogging so much.

  19. Holly says:

Tina! That looks incredibly painful! I hope it feels better soon….foot/ankle pain is so horrible. 🙁

  20. OMG! My mom’s cards! And Sean’s painting! WHOOHOO. I get so excited when I see those out there. Glad it’s hanging on your friends. When you see it, not only think of Janetha but think of me bc I love you that much too.

I think some of my blog friends are closer to me than real life friends and I am perfectly fine with that.

and dang girl, get that ankle better. looks viscious.

  21. Oh no Tina, I hope your ankle feels better! I am the worst with tripping over everything and running into walls that have been in the same place forever!

I do feel like blog friends are real friends. I feel like, in a lot of ways, blog friends know me better than my “real” friends. I think this is just a different way of being pen pals…more updated anyway. I hope you have a great afternoon!

  22. Oh your poor ankle!! That looks so painful! I hope its feeling better. My goodness!

I definitely consider my blog friends real friends. Theyre always there to lend support, encouragement and inspiration. What else could I possibly ask for?

  23. OUCH Tina! That looks painful 🙁 Oh I hope it gets better soon, dear.

I love blog friends! Love it more when you actually get to meet each other in person. I’ve definitely met some really sweet bloggers in the blogosphere!

If I’m sick, I just want to let my body rest and recuperate. If I’m injured, I do the same as you.

  24. I absolutely consider blog friends to be real friends. Like others have mentioned, I feel like some of my blog friends know me better than my real friends! And sometimes, blog friends actually BECOME real friends. For example, Gabriela from Une Vie Saine and I have hung out in person so much that I sometimes forget we met via blogging 🙂

  25. Oh goodness, girl!

    Your ankle!

    NO FUN…

Take care of yourself (and treat yourself to something nice….when we are down we deserve pampering)

  26. Oh no! That looks BRUTAL. Gotta love the toys lying around. I’ve done some creative falling over monster trucks while holding a baby. 🙂

  27. kate says:

Perfect example of blog love! Makes my day just reading about it 🙂

  28. Megan says:

I love pumpkin in my oats!!!! Hope your ankle gets better!

  29. Ameena says:

I am extremely clumsy so I know where you are coming from. I hope your ankle feels better soon!

Some of my blog friends are nicer than my real friends. Sad, but true!

  30. I’m LOVING having TV back in my life! hehe

I’m not too clumsy… should I knock on wood for saying that?!

LOVE blog friends – think they’re just like “real” friends but WAY easier to keep up with! 🙂

  31. Wow that ankle looks PAINFUL! I hope it gets better quick!

  32. I love the friends I’ve met in Bloggerland. I just wish everyone lived closer!!!!

Hope your foot feels better soon! Ouch!

    XOXOX,

    Laur

  33. Omg your foot looks so painful, hang in there hon!!

I defi consider blog friends real friends. It’s crazy, but true!

  34. I give you a lot of credit for working out with that ankle! Ouch! I’m currently looking at a room full of toys on the floor, so I know how easily that can happen 🙂
I’m having the workout / not workout dilemma right now, due to lack of sleep. Usually, I’m pretty good at listening to my body and taking a break if I need to. Can’t decide if I should go to yoga!
Thanks for checking out my blog 🙂 I’m enjoying reading through yours! I love new blog friends 🙂

  35. Sava says:

That question is like when people ask if I count my World of Warcraft buddies as real friends.

    Of course I do!
Real people having real conversations with you = real friends 🙂

  36. Almond butter rocks, and the card your friend sent is awesome!
OUCH – that food looks painful! Take care of yourself!

  37. Wow that ankle looks PAINFUL. Props to you for working out on it. I would think the lunges track may have hurt.

I definitely do have blog friends who are real friends!

    • Tina says:

Its really only scraped up so it didnt hurt too bad. The lunges was the only track that kind of hurt. But not bad. More like a little sting.

  38. oh gosh hope you’re doing ok! 🙁

i <3 bloggy friends. especially after meeting them in person, it makes the blog world so much more amazing!

  39. homecookedem says:

🙁 Oh no!! So sorry to hear about your ankle!! That is the same foot I hurt 2 months ago. My foot feels better, but the swelling is still there. Take care of that foot and get plenty of rest for it!!!!!!!

How sweet is Janetha!!!!! Yes, blog friends are most definitely my real friends!!!!! Like YOU of course!! 🙂 Actually, I feel like yall are the ones who understand me the most and “get me.” We are such a unique and supportive group of women. I don’t always get that same support from my other friends. Don’t get me wrong, they’re great of course, but they don’t always seem to know just what I need to hear like my blog friends do.

    • Tina says:

I hear you on this. We do relate to each other on so many things. Like, I can more openly share about binging here than with some of my friends from church. I would be open about it to them as well, but I wouldn’t necessarily initiate that topic. Know what I mean? And then the love of all things food and fitness – its nice to share that with people. LOL

  40. I definitely think of my blog friends as real friends. I was so fortunate to meet a bunch of people in DC and have made some great friends that way. I also think that some bloggers that I have never met know me better than some of my class mates. They are always there to support you, help lift your spirits when theyre down. Its really an amazing community.

  41. Karen says:

I’m pretty new to blogging, still finding my way through it all. But I am really enjoying myself so far! I look forward to thinking of other bloggers in the community as friends:)

Boy, that ankle looks painful! Hope you heal up fast!

I love nut butters. But I am wishing someone would make pecan butter! I love the combo of pumpkin and pecan. I actually tried making my own before, but it wasn’t very good!
If anyone has seen pecan butter out there, let me know!

  42. […] all! Thanks so much for all your concern about my ankle. It’s mainly scraped up and bruised on the top. Thankfully, not twisted or swollen in any way. […]

  43. janetha g. says:

your ankle looks GNARLY. dude. get better.

i am glad you got the goods! i mean, after you left such a funny comment about the nut butter awhile back, i HAD to send you some 😉

    love you, tina!!
